My students. Dear lord in heaven. They're all spoonfed in elementary school. They have NO idea how to function as individual students. Or how to work in groups with me holding their hands. Or how to do research. OR HOW TO FUNCTION IN GENERAL.
This brick wall keeps getting closer and closer.

I don't think I did any sort of schoolwork that was completely independent until 8th grade or so. And even then, it was only stuff like "pick an event in history and write about it" or "pick things that represent what happened in this book and present them to the class", so that sounds about right to me. What is it they're supposed to be doing?
