We went to the French Quarter today by way of the Algiers ferry. When we got back at 6:30 PM the ferry had closed for the evening. OK checked and the Chalmette ferry runs till 8:30. We tried to cycle down there and went 3 miles out of the 7 miles to the ferry. It was 7:00, getting dark, one of us was very tired, we were on bikes and in the lower 9th ward. (this is sort of like being in Dracula's back yard after dark with no garlic) We spotted a bus going back down town with bike racks so we took it and transferred to the bus going across the river to Algiers. Took us till 9:45 to get home.

We would have taken the Algiers bus first but did not know where the bus stop was.

But the good news is we lived through it.
