[1v1] Coffee and Tea (Gene / Edel)

It felt... weird being back in the real world after being in a dream that involved a lot of battling for so long. The ghoul stared at the ice polearm she had crafted and shifted it from hand to hand, testing out a few moves she had developed while in the dream land. It felt familiar, yes, but at the same time, she preferred something else now that she could use her normal abilities again.

The polearm was reforged into a small ice dragon sculpture, whereupon a tap of her finger would bring it to life.

What. It was a much cuter way to battle.

Gene needed to unload and decompress after that bit of a stressful tour group. While she knew all parties involved were well intentioned, she hadn't accounted for the fact that she'd basically be babysitting the two visitors.

She'd wrapped her hands as usual, changed into her gym gear, and was about to begin wailing on one of the punching bags she'd shown to the pair earlier when she notice an icy looking ghoul playing with a little dragon.

"Hey, what're you doing up there?"

The frost demon smiled at the ghoul and let the dragon do the talking, landing it near Gene's feet where it tottered towards the doppelgänger with a little screech.

Yes, succumb to its cuteness. Make love not war.

Gene, like a majority of creeple with hearts (not Shun), had an affinity for small animals. So of course she squealed a teeny tiny bit before picking the dragon up, cooing as she pet its head.

While looking at cute animals was a good form of stress relief, the ghoul still felt the need to do something physical. She enjoyed training, after all, plus she'd had one too many croissants the previous night. "This is adorable, sweetie, but this isn't a petting zoo." She let the dragon go back to its creator, a hand resting on her hip as she tried to make conversation. "Unless you have more tricks you'd like to show me?"

The ghoul raised an eyebrow at the comment, processing it as a challenge. Still smiling and not saying anything, the tiny dragon shifted into something slightly bigger, sporting dangerous looking spikes and looking decidedly less adorable. The screech became a small roar, and the dragon bore its sharp teeth at the ghoul. Not so friendly now was it?

A playful grin crept across the doppelganger's face as she crouched into a defensive position, spikes and scales popping up along her spine, knuckles, and cheeks. Her challenge had obviously been accepted.

Edel was a little surprised to see the other ghoul mimic the look of her ice dragon. A doppelgänger perhaps? The frost demon nodded in greeting, before sending the dragon straight at her, wrapping the ghoul in a spiky embrace.

It still loves you, Gene.

The dragon many have still loved her, but Gene did not love it any longer. After its icy embrace and spiky love, the ghoul phased through it and floated up to Edel. "Honey, honey. You can't fight a ghost with constructs, you know." She teased with a coy smile before delivering a kick to the ice demon.

Ah, so she could do that too? The ghoul watched Gene phase through the dragon, a little surprised.

Well, the kick surprised her too.

"Mm", she nodded, just as the dragon came flying straight into Gene's back.

"Oof." She grunted, slamming into a wall. Alright, the ghoul was good. No need to be cocky.

She cracked her knuckles and her neck, and rolled her shoulders. Now the fight was really happening. She charged in toward the ghoul with a left hook, growling.

Ah, she really didn't want to get punched. There was one bad memory enough of that already. The ice dragon sailed in to take the impact of the swing, shattering into ice shards that sprayed in all directions.

But mostly at herself.

Blocking the ice crystals to the best of her ability, the Doppel decided to try and heal herself after a few shards ripped through her skin. A blue pulse formed around her hand, but when she went to apply the salve, it broke.

And she was open. Crap.

The other ghoul had stopped attacking for a moment to ... heal herself? It didn't seem to work, unfortunately, prompting the frost demon to offer her an ice pack.

"I suppose introductions are due," she smiled, handing the ice block over, "I'm Edel, pleased to meet you-"

Ah, why did the ghoul look familiar? Right. She had been in Danny's group during the horsemen trials. Well.

Perplexed but grateful, Gene held out a healed hand to shake the ghoul's own. "Genevieve, though I prefer Gene. Lovely to meet you as well, Edel." She chirped as silver eyes scrutinized the demon. Was she... ah, right. From the Horsement Trials.

"You...I know you from somewhere. Horsemen trials? Opposing team?" She quizzed, tapping her chin. "Right! You and Danny are rivals!"

"Hello Gene," she greeted, taking the other ghoul's hand.

"It is more of a one-sided, indiscriminate dislike actually," the frost demon was quick to clarify, "Inexplicable, really, except that fire and ice just don't mesh."

...

"And certainly not over Rikki." She remembered him being on the same team for those trials. The topic of Danny certainly compelled her to clarify everything.
