The ten-foot tall, rust-covered robots used for Amityville Academy's waste collection were... overkill, to say the least. Hethel watched them lumber toward the facility in an imposing, catankerous din, leaving in their wake a scent strong enough for even her nearly nonexistent smelling ability to pick it up. It was definitely nothing like the natural and beneficial rot of a forest, decomposing organic matter into nutrients for the soil; it was a wasteful, corrosive fester, growing and unsalvageable; the ugly side of lifestyles heavy on consumption. Hethel found a sort of symbolism in the Trashbot Waste Disposal Units's monstrous appearance. Yet... they were overkill, weren't they?
"In a place where everything is questionable, nothing is questionable." She muttered to herself in the usual flat tones. The mass of feathers regarded her 'class notes', instructions from a janitor who was also a professor (if she had indeed been telling the truth, and Trashology 101 was a legitimate course.) Hethel found it difficult enough to disregard this prominent feature of the campus to wish for a better understanding, however, and so decided to give it a try.
She had followed the directions to the waste processing facility, where she and another student were supposed to enter together. As her classmate had not yet arrived, the owl spirit stood in wait, gaze fixed on the towering TWDU's.

Hethel stared in disbelief at the meal-creature bounding toward her with such enthusiasm. Even in humanoid form, she was clearly... a rodent, wasn't she? There was no time to debate her senses, however, as the smaller ghoul was lifted off her legs by the trashbot. Fresh prey running about on the ground may have confused the machines, as well. Not one to waste food, the spirit's arms disappeared into her cowl; thick sleeves emerged and shifted into a more rigid shape of wings. She took off in a series of heavy flaps before entering a curved glide toward the captive student. Swooping at the robot's arm, she swung forward her umber legs and perched on her feet, feathers settling back down into their original shape while the TWDU continued walking into the warehouse. The entrance was feet away- and through it, one could see many more such machines at work.
"I don't think these robots will listen to our commands," Hethel stated matter-of-factly. "Let us cut your tail then- ah." The monotonous proposal was interrupted by a sudden jerking motion- another of the gigantic robots in the warehouse had grabbed onto the tail of her cowl and tugged, pulling her clear off of Camilla's. She twirled in the air, similarly dangled and surprised.
