WE ARE HALLOWEEN
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL CLASS:

NAME OF CLASS: BEEN FIGHTING HONEY BADGERS ON THE DESERT MOUNTAIN.
PROFESSOR NAME Malcolm

General information: If you thought fighting bears was bad, Malcolm had apparently found something much, much worse than just bears... Honey Badgers. Unlike bears, Honey Badgers don't care - they don't care about pain, they don't care about fighting back, and they most certainly don't care about you, stupid.

These Honey Badgers live on the other side of the Garowl Mountains; the family of three bears do their best to avoid the Honey Badgers.

Prerequisites:
- Must be Y2
- Must have finished BEEN FIGHTING BEARS ON THE MOUNTAIN.

The Course:
The Garowl Mountains, located just 5 minutes' walk away from the school. Yes, this mountain had always been there; don't question it.

Mechanics:

Phase 1
Although the side of the mountain used in Professor Malcolm's first class was freezing cold, the side of the mountain that had been claimed by the Honey Badgers was totally different... In fact, the whole side of the mountain was a traditional desert - dry, sandy, and scorching hot. It was not your typical mountain, and it would not be an easy hike for most students.

Especially since you have to look for the Honey Badger.

Note: If your student is fire/heat-based or is used to living is extreme heat or a desert setting, you may skip this phrase and move onto phrase 2! Just leo strut your way around, and rp spotting a Honey Badger!
Note 2: If your student is water/ice/cold-based, you will use 1d8.
Note 3: Everyone else will use a 1d10!

1 : It's so hot... And dry... And you have no water with you/finished all the water you had on you... After getting lost in the desert with no sign of the Honey Badger, you collapsed in the sand; in the evening, Malcolm would find you, and carry you to Nurse Cricket's office. This is wall of shame worthy. Major fail!
2-5 : You thought you spotted a Honey Badger, but before you could give chase, a sandstorm forced you into seeking shelter in a burrow. By the time the sandstorm settled, the Honey Badger was gone, and you were forced to return to school. Fail!
6-10 : A Honey Badger! You couldn't believe your luck! After wandering around for what seemed like forever, you finally found the creature you were looking for! Without hesitation, you raced towards the Honey Badger, catching up to it. Pass!

Phrase 2
As you neared the Honey Badger, it growled at you, showing how much it did not care. Tied around its neck was a piece of paper; judging by the Amityville logo printed on it, you figured that you'll have to wrestle it from the Honey Badger... It looked ready to tear into you in order to rip out your Fear Core.

Note: Roll 2d10 to fight!
-> First dice = Your strength | Second dice = Honey Badger's strength
-> To pass: Value of First Dice > Value of Second dice

-> If you failed, the Honey Badger managed to overpower you, and you had to run back to school with your (imaginary or otherwise) tail behind you.
-> If you passed, you managed to wrestle the piece of paper from the Honey Badger. However, in the process, you had received quite a few scratch and bite marks from the disgruntled creature.

Phrase 3
The note had been enchanted, and you could hear Malcolm say something about how you had done well by getting so far, and that your real test is just about to begin... Wait, what? What real test? You then realized that the Honey Badger you had earlier wrestled with was just a baby Honey Badger.

Meanwhile, mommy Honey Badger's looking at you like it wants you for lunch... Not that it cares about its baby. Honey Badger don't care. It just wants to bring you pain, stupid.

Note: Roll 2d12 to fight!
-> Do this twice!
--> You have to pass both rolls to move on to the Final Phase; if you fail even one of the rolls, you've failed!

-> First dice = Your strength | Second dice = Honey Badger's strength
-> To pass: Value of First Dice > Value of Second dice

Final phrase
After you won the wrestling match against mommy Honey Badger, you expected the daddy Honey Badger to turn up - after all, that's what happened with the bears. However, you forgot something very important - daddy Honey Badger don't care, stupid. For a moment, you felt happy to have completed your training...

And then you realized that both baby and mommy Honey Badgers are ready to attack you, and tear you into shreds. It was time to prove that you're a REAL MAN. To prove that you have what it takes to tame bears and defeat Honey Badgers into caring.

It was time to intimidate.

-> You would have finished "BEEN FIGHTING BEARS ON THE MOUNTAIN." and gotten the 'Beginner Battle Aura' ability in order to do this Open Class. To refresh your memory, the mechanics for Beginner Battle Aura had been copied over:

Quote:
Beginner Battle Aura
Difficulty level: Beginner
Pre-requisites: N/A
Battle Effect: This is an ADD on effect! You cannot use it with your Fear. Once per battle, by using this effect (please state so), instead of rolling your usual 2d6/8/10, you will roll THREE dice.
- The first two dice behave as normal, simply add up the damage and subtract 6.
- THE LAST DICE, if even, is the additional damage you do DIVIDED BY TWO. If your last dice is odd, you do all of the damage of the THREE DICE ROLLS (the third roll amount divided by two) to yourself
Non-battle Effect: A character acquires the ability to create a menacing aura, perhaps enough to lightly startle others.

-> In order to pass Phase 3, you have to roll a successful Beginner Battle Aura + defeat the Honey Badgers! Remember that you can only use Battle Aura once per battle!
--> This means that you should use it on your first battle post; once per battle means that a miss = a fail!
--> Your HP/attack values depends on your current level; so for example, Year 1 will be 30HP/2d6-6, Year 2 will be 40HP/2d8-6, and so on!

-> HONEY BADGERS HAVE 30HP!
-> Every time you roll, you take 4 damage from the boss, even if you missed.

-> If you hit 0HP before the Honey Badgers, you have FAILED!
-> If you miss your Beginner Battle Aura roll, you have FAILED!
--> Failure = The Honey Badgers beat you up pretty badly, and sent you running home (possibly while crying for your mommy).

IF YOU PASSED PHASE 3
The Honey Badgers seemed to hesitate before retreating, the baby following behind its mommy. You've done it. You've defeated the Honey Badgers. Your hair is messy, you're all bloodied, your clothing would probably have to be tossed out after this, and you're pumpkin-sunburnt from being out in the desert for so long but it was all (probably) worth it.

You're one step closer to being a REAL MAN now.

Stupid.

Quote:
Bonus Mechanics:
Demons: Once in this open class attempt, you can reroll your dice roll to try again!
Monsters: If you are KO'ed you can restart at half your health instead of dying!
Ghosts: Add +2 to all your attack powers for the entire battle
Undead: Take -2 damage to you for the entire battle.
Reapers: Choose any ability above, but you can only choose one!

He was going insane. That was it. He had chosen to go up a mountain again so soon. Why? Because he thought it would help. Hopefully.

And it was working to some degree, he felt stronger. No matter how much the last one sucked he was stronger for it. It was just a little, tiny bit but worth it. Of course once he arrived he found out one thing. It was hot. Gloriously, blissfully hot. He was comfortable. Perhaps even a bit warm from the way his tail set it's self ablaze, carefully keeping his body temperature at normal.

He stared up, wondering if Olivia was around. Probably not he decided. She defiantly should not come here, he decided. Absolutly no... ever.

To Olivia

Going to fight badgers, don't follow it's scorching hot.

There. That would keep her safe. He stared up the mountain and prepared himself.

She was.

Not intentionally, or at least not at first. Olivia had actually been trying to give Andrew a little bit of space despite her disposition of their relationship and had been trying to figure out how to be better about being around him - a few dead ends really, and more of distractions as she fell back into old habits. The ghoul simply had not been seeking him out as she usually was, and no one for that matter. Just simply watching as the student body moved along. And she had been going to class. Simple as that.

But she noticed him one day, this particular day and found herself being a shadow to the flame demon. Totally not realizing where he was going and how it was going to turn out to be just a terrible idea.

Because it was just so very hot even up a very tall mountain - this clearly wasn't the other one with the bears. "Oh....." Yes, a very bad idea. But she still just kept following him.

And totally didn't notice her phone going off.

Maybe he had subconsciously seen her.

Maybe. But it wasn't until he was already on the mountain that he officially spotted the ghoul. He had missed her. But he could not tell her that. Not after what he did. He wouldn't tell her that.

Instead he simply stared wondering if she had read the text and followed on purpose. Really the text was just a future warning. It was Hot. He was comfortable.

And she was very stubborn. "It's too hot for you. You are going to dry out, or melt."

There was resistance, warning signals going off in her head - it even sounded like her natural abilities were sputtering to keep up with the heat - but Olivia was still stubborn enough to keep going. She had managed to navigate through a forge after all and maintained herself through Andrew's room.

It didn't help that Andrew did turn around and notice her, making her smile simply grow and a twinkle in her eyes appear. "I will be alright." She told him cheerfully, "I have never heard any of us melting before." Yes, that just seemed silly. She was a creature of colder nature for sure, but she wasn't made of ice or anything. Could create a little bit of it. (Well, not now).

Drying out though. No, that also didn't seem right. And even still, she felt very determined to follow Andrew up this very interesting mountain - maybe it would also have bears or some fun traps to set.

She wouldn't find out though. Well, not today.

Her natural abilities apparently couldn't handle the heat very much of the desert coupled with the very nice sunny summery day of heated conditions with the pumpkin sun beating down upon them. She made it two more steps before it just got so very overwhelming. Olivia simply stopped moving and neatly fell down into the sand with a soft thud.

He was pretty sure she would melt. He had seen flesh melt in Lava before and while it wasn't that hot, she probably wouldn't have a bit of liquid in her within minutes.

Did she even have liquid? She didn't have blood. Still he walked at a slow pace as now she was fallowing him and well, What he suspected would happen happened.

She simply stopped, he would dare say she passed out. There was no way he would leave her there, alone all night. Andrew thought about it a long moment, he could go get a teacher, but what if she dissipated first? No, he could not wait.

Instead he tried to pick her up and found he could. She wasn't that heavy. He was careful to make sure he didn't touch skin, not a hard task considering she was in her usual gear. As long as she didn't try to escape he carried her back down to the dorms. It seemed there would be no fighting badgers for him today.

When she finally stirred, Olivia found herself in the cooler airs of the Undead common room on one of the many couches. No one seemed to be around and no one had seemed to have attempted to move her or awaken her. How she got there, she was unsure but the thought passed her mind when she realized she still had a good amount of sand in her shoes, in odd places of her clothing and her cheek felt a little scorched - where she had fallen on the desert sands and partly where her head had lulled into Andrew.

Her hand pressed to her cheek as she sat up and fished out her phone; mostly to check the time but that was also when she noticed the flame demon's message along with a few others - none terribly concerning. But still, there had been that one that had been trying to steer her away.

phantompanther13
text to Andrew:
Oh. I just found your message. Did you fight them? Was it fun?

Oddly enough, she kind of wanted to try it again. And thusly, she pulled herself from her seat, scattering sand across the ground, and made for the door to do just that.

Andrew had left for his dorm to brood. Why did she follow him? It was far too hot up there for her. (The same question of why he went up the bear mountain could be asked of him.)

He was still brooding the next day when he was walking back to the mountain, wondering if Olivia was alright. (Not that he cared. They weren't friends.) But then he got a text, and he was relived. Just got his message?

chirigami

Text to Olivia:
No. You passed out. I made sure you got home.

And kind of just left her there. He figured it was better than her drying out in the desert.

Text to Andrew:
That was so nice of you!

She sent back. Anyone around her might have heard a very happy little sound and possibly could be puzzled why she suddenly broke out into just about the biggest smile ever. And he said they weren't friends! Silly Andrew!

phantompanther13
Text to Andrew:
Would you like to try it again? I would like to try it again.

Came a second message, even as she was already on her way to the very hot mountain. Olivia had the same basic logic going in her mind; is he went up the very cold one as she had, she could just as well go up the very hot one as he would.

Andrew had been searching for some badgers now settle to know that Olivia was alright when he got the next set of texts.

At first he just nodded not planing to give a response. Nice... yeah he would defiantly leave out the part about carrying her.

And then What?!

chirigami

To Olivia:

It's hot.

Oh hell, this ghoul was stubborn. Why? gonk He looked around knowing she was coming. There was nothing he could do to stop the ghoul. The least he could do was make sure she survived.

It would have been interesting news to find out he had carried her, so many questions would have been asked - it would also explain, maybe, her face but that still was mostly due to falling head first into the sand. Knowing he had risked what he did would also just give her more reason to believe they were still friends despite what he told her. (Because they totally were!)

Once again, she ignored his text message but this time had actually looked at it. It was hot, so obviously so just like the last time she had followed him. But this time, she didn't see him at first when she wandered upon the desert.

This time she noticed a honey badger first. And followed that instead. OuO

Andrew may have spotted a honey badger or two but he was more intent upon finding Olivia instead of fighting at the moment. Just knowing she was probably, most likely on the mountain sank his stomach in a knot of worry. Not that he cared. but he needed to know she was safe. What if she passed out like last time. What if it was so hot she just spontaneously combusted. (Could zombies do that?)

The air would be faster. He might have spotted the honey badger she was fallowing but Andrew didn't care. He landed near her kicking up some sand in a small puff of dust. "You are stubborn." Nothing could hide his frustration at the moment.

There was a small distance between the two of them, the honey badger and Olivia but she kept following him despite her body protesting staying in so very hot environment. What Andrew would tell her was very much true - be it tasks or with other creeple, it was hard for her to give up unwillingly. The thought never crossed her mind.

She only stopped when she felt the sand rustle about her and heard the beat of wings so very close. "Oh, hello Andrew! You are here." She chirped happily before turning her attention back to where she had seen the little creature - which seemed to be joined by a few others. "Did you see? It has something around its neck." The ghoul stated, pointing out in its direction before she resumed her chase.

Maybe she had to tackle it, she wondered, it seemed to not want to stop or come close. Always seemed to slip past her fingers by the time she caught up.

So, the wight lunged forward and indeed tackled it, badger and ghoul rolling for some distance while it flailed and bit at her a little. But in the end, she won out and retrieved the paper. Aha!

He sighed following the ghoul. At least she had been able to find the Badgers. Maybe if she completed the class, she would go down and not suffer from heat stroke, or whatever it was that Zombies suffered from.

"It does." Humm Andrew went and pounced on another badger. It bit his arm but he pinned that sucker to the ground tail burning high.

"Huh mine says something about a real test." It was then that he noticed the mother badgers near by. Oh Jack.

"Oh, that sounds fun!" Olivia exclaimed as she finally released the baby honey badger from her clutches - he was very tempting to keep, though finding permission might have been difficult. Well, that was what she figured at first until she realized that there was indeed a much larger creature not too far from them.

Perhaps that was the real test the papers spoke of!

Without hesitation, Olivia made her way towards the mama honey badger and tried her luck. Which apparently wasn't all too much, as she found herself easily bested by the beast. She pushed hard but was easily flipped over and sent crashing to the ground with a nice large swipe to her chest. "Oh, that didn't go well." She stated as she ran a hand through the small tears of her shirt.
