[1vs1] Extra Credit (Li Shou vs Popo)

Poppy was not opposed to a brawl now and then. If she wanted something bad enough, she'd fight for it with her own claws. Be that as it may, passing classes was usually not attainable by threatening bodily harm to the teachers in charge.

She could, however, earn credits she needed by way of spars.

This was one such spar.

Popo was dressed in her best, as usual. A delicate lady looking ill-suited to combat, were it not for the devilish smile creeping up on her lips. Why such a smile?

Her opponent just walked into the gym.

Popo wasn't the only one who dressed her best in a situation that didn't call for it.

Li Shou, who had been wise enough to leave a certain plush at home, marched into the gym with his chest puffed out in a sad, sorry attempt to look tough. It was hard to be menacing when you were so fluffy and adorable.

The teachers had been none too thrilled with his philosophies which included, but were not limited to, the idea that his lower income classmates should be the ones doing his homework, not him.

Which was why he was earning him some extra credit.

Was he scared? Not exactly? Should he be? Oh hell yes. Or, at least, that would've been the case... Had his opponent not been a familiar face.

"Pffft, haha! YOU? You're my opponent?!" The boil held his stomach as he broke out into a laughing fit.

Oh that boil would regret laughing at Penelope Pippa Petkewich. So much regret. She once went up against a third year! She lost... but she fought damn well!

Poppy sneered, flipping Li Shou off before making a flame erupt from her middle finger.

She flicked said flame towards the kitty cat, watching in fury as it fizzled out before it reached him.

Li Shou stopped laughing as a blaze caught his attention from the corner of his eye. He stood up straight, too late to leap back or attempt a dodge when... It just fizzled.

Oh.

"... HAHAHAHAHA!" It was hard to hold back his laughter, but he tried as he balled up a fist and ran at her.

It was painfully clear that Li Shou had little to no sparring practice, because his fist didn't even come close to connecting.

Popo's red skin glowed redder as he laughed. How dare he! That insolent welp! He came at her, and she side stepped, readying her hand to judo chop this brat's neck.

But he'd already passed and her hand hit nothing.

For the first few moments, it looked light the fight would go absolutely nowhere. Just two kids convincingly play fighting.

Until Li Shou managed to wheel himself around and throw a kick at her.

The laughing stopped. He seemed more shocked than anything. The boil couldn't recall a time when he had actually managed to land a hit on... Anything really.

Woah.

Poppy yelped, skidding to the floor as she was struck with a kick. How dare he! Poppy got back her her feet, and body checked the boil with what little weight she had to throw around.

Between all the shock and awe, Li Shou almost didn't process she was coming back at him and made no attempt at dodging her next attack, which left him tumbling to the ground.

Little beads of tears filled his eyes as he pushed himself up, his hand grasping at her leg fruitlessly to pull her down with him.

Popo sneered, kicking Li off of her leg as he tried to climb back to his feet. "No touchy!" She griped with a hiss.

The kick was what Li Shou had needed to inspire him on. This time, as he leaped to his feet, the boil aimed his head at her gut with the force he could muster from pushing himself up. Good thing his crown had fallen off. Ouch.

Air temporarily was unattainable, as all of it had been cast out from the sudden head butt to her gut. She grabbed his head and forced a knee into his nose.

"AH!" The boil shouted in surprise and pulled back, holding his nose as he felt warm liquid gushing forth from it.

"Foul creature!" He shouted at her, Aiming a punch to her nose so he could pay her back for the damage.

Poppy screeched, holding her nose as tears automatically welled up in her eyes and blocked her vision. That hurt! It stung!

It looked like Li Shou had somehow managed to gain the upper hand. She was distracted, as she should be.

A small part of him felt bad for continuing while she was distracted by her bleeding nose, but... The boil assumed that no sympathy would be shown to him if the shoe was on the other foot.

So he shoved her.

"You give up?" He asked, his voice slightly more nasally now that his nose was filled with blood.

Popo let go of her nose after she was shoved, staring back at the boil with her eyes aflame. "In your dreams!"

She summoned a fire ball and hurled it at his hair.
