[1v1] Training Montage (Nim and Quillan)

After so many classes, Nim figured she should focus on something else today. The first thing that came to mind was working out and training. She was supposed to be able to fight and defend herself, right? So she should get to work on making that happen!

But she needed to find someone to fight. She dressed herself, put a sweat band around each of Cirrus's legs and her own wrists, and made it all the way down to the gym before she realized she had someone she could text.

To Quillan:[color=white]

Come train with me? Pleeeeaaase?"

Quillan woke up to the ringing of his phone. He checked it and saw Nim’s text. Although it was a bit early, he wanted to train too and with no one else in the gym, they would have it all to themselves! Plus, he needed to train, so he was grateful that Nim had asked him.

To Nim:[color=white]

Sure! I'll be down in a bit.

He grabbed his bag, shoved his phone in it, and ran to the gym.

By the time Quillan made it down, Nim had started to entertain herself. She'd already worked three small braids into her familiar's long hair and was working on a fourth. When the doors opened she looked up and grinned.

"Yay you made it! Quillan, meet my familiar Cirrus. Cirrus, Quillan." She hoped up and bounced lightly on her toes. "I've never sparred before. I hope that's okay."

Quillan found the reaper and walked over to her. She had with her a small pony that she didn't have back when they were in class. The ink demon gave the familiar a small pat on the head after Nim had introduced them to each other and said "Nice to meet you!" He then turned to Nim and said, "That's fine! I've only been in a few spars and I can't say that I'm any good."

Cirrus snorted crossly, but didn't say anything as he was patted on the head. He squinted at Quillan and then retreated to behind Nim - well out of the way of any more pats.

Nim didn't seem to notice, she just kept smiling. "Well that's okay. Maybe we'll be on even ground then." She lifted up her fists liked she'd seen fighters in movies do. "Let's get to it!"

Quillan hadn't been paying attention when Cirrus snorted and hidden behind Nim (which probably meant more pats for Cirrus in the future because Quillan can't take hints). He got up, stood opposite to Nim, and mirrored Nim's stance. "Ready when you are!" he said.

The was a small pause while Nim waited for something to happen.

"...Oh am I supposed to attack now?"

Afraid of wasting anymore time, Nim struck out quickly. Her fist sparked with tiny bits of lightning as it connected with his flesh and she immediately danced away after.

She was going to be quick and fierce!

Quillan had only fought hand - to - hand combat before, and although the reaper ghoul had used her fists, Quillan didn't know how to react with the addition of lightning. He never thought about using ink before because that would just result in messes like slipping on the gym floor because of ink puddles and no one would ever want to fight with him again because their clothes would be ruined. After deciding to stick with just normal kicks and punches, he launched a punch towards Nim.

Oh! That kind of hurt. Nim frowned and rubbed at the spot he'd heat, trying to make the dull ache go away. Maybe she didn't actually know what she was getting into.

She focused on Quillan again and tried to kick him, but her kick didn't go up high enough to do anything. Embarrassing.

Quillan realized he might have a slight upper hand having been in three or four spars before. He wasn't going to go any easier on her though because he was bound to mess, and whenever he messed up, he messed up big time, and that would give Nim plenty of chances to make it up. He followed up Nim's kick with a somewhat gentle punch to her shoulder.

"Ouch!" Nim laughed, because at least she knew to expect the pain this time. She didn't dodge back from the hit, but barreled through it instead. Her fist lit up with electricity again and she punched him right in the gut. Because she was a jerk.

Wow, Nim was improving vastly over such a short period of time because that punch hurt. He was going to strike again but ... was the room spinning? And why are the five Nim's? He aimed for one of them and completely missed all five somehow.

Quillan didn't look so good. "Hey, are you okay?"

Being concerned didn't stop her from trying to fight, though. She punched him again, but this time with less force. She was a little worried she'd actually hurt him.

"Y-yeah I'll be fine, don't worry about it." he said, stumbling around as Nim punched him again. He was still feeling dizzy from that first hit but it should go away soon ... he hoped.
