After seeing something about the Deepfall Aquatics club, Zaire felt the urge to swim. And who best to drag along with him to the pool than another water monster? Slowly making his way down the dorm hall, he yawned and stretched. Pausing at a newly familiar dorm door he knocked loudly, a bored look sprawling across his face as he waited.

Hopefully the boil wasn't busy he mused only now as a hand went to bare hip. Standing he yawned, tail going up to curl around his waist. Playing with the towel around his shoulders he knocked one more time for good measure and waited impatiently.

The door opened a crack and a bright blue eye peered out at the one who had knocked it. Then, seeing Zaire, the eye disappeared and the door twitched as if it might just close again. It didn't, instead Jory opened it after a second of hesitation. "H-hey. What's up? he asked while eyeing the swim trunks and towel.

Seeing the hesitation he smirked but the expression quickly faded in favor of a yawn. Funny boil he was. On a step back Zaire's tail swung out to the cracked door and sat in the opening. "Hey..." A tip of his head was given before his mouth opened again, "let's go swimming?" There you go, he invited him and followed it up by eyeing Jory intently as he awaited his answer.

"Ah, sorry." Fingers twitched, shoulders rising in the subtle start of a hunch. He shouldn't have even considered closing the door, but he still didn't really know Zaire that well, and he was perpetually nervous around new creeple. Still, it had been rude.

"S-swimming?" Baby blues blinked, and then the boil actually seemed to perk up. The subtle slouch of his posture straightened, and his hands drifted down to his sides. He liked swimming. He liked it very much. In fact it was the only place he really felt at home, comfortable, capable. His lips twitched, not quite a smile, but close. "Okay. Um. Give me a second to change?" He pointed unnecessarily behind him, then paused, looking momentarily torn. "Do you wanna come in to wait?"

He had a bathroom he could change in, wasn't like Zaire would try peeping. RIght?

"Eh," Zaire shrugged for the apology, not really getting why one was given in the first place to care. The stammer in repeat though had his sharp pearly whites peeking from behind his thin lips as his head nodded to confirm. Jory was an interesting boil, mildly interesting, but interesting none the less. While the posture shift had gone unnoticed the change of features had not, the torn look gaining a snort and a lift of brow.

Claws dug into the plush fabric of his towel for a moment then released as his hands shifted to rest at his side. He didn't like going into other creeples dorms, mostly because walking in them was more work but also because he liked his own space to not be invaded and figured the same of others.

Lazily, silently the Mahamba took a step closer to Jory and the door, tail swinging back behind him as he went. Intending on making his way past the other to wait in side as offered. "....Ok. Don't have anything weird in here right?...Or delicious minipets.." His tone was casual, though he was teasing, kind of. .

Got a moment Jory hovered rather anxiously near the door after Zaire had taken him up on his offer, then he stepped back towards his room. "Just, um. Wait here, I'll be ready in a minute." The question was an odd one, and the afanc wasn't sure if the other boil was joking or not, but he'd seen the sharp teeth when Zaire yawned. "No minis," he admitted, giving the other a wary eye as he slipped into his room to grab a pair of swim trunks.

Then it was straight into the bathroom. Jory changed quickly, and was back in the main room with a towel slung over his shoulders, more or less hiding a thin chest and a narrow waist.

Incredibly self-conscious(even around Natalia), he avoided the other boil's gaze, not at all in any hurry to see what might be there. Judgement, that was his first guess. Grip on his towel tightening, Jory led the way out and back down the hall. "Are we going to the lake? Or the pool?" He hadn't been to the pool yet." He'd preferred the lake, because that was what he knew. Pools were something he'd never seen before.

Zaire still couldn't figure it out, Jory had to be the most nervous acting boil he had met here. Funny. Maybe he was scared of him Zaire mused knowing that a good deal of creeple seemed to be, Helki had even been frightened of him when they first met now he clinged like the plague to him. On a slow nod he agreed silently to stay put, though as soon as the other fled to dress his eyes roamed the area out of curiosity.

No minis? Ah well those things were annoying as it was but to bad he would miss out on a snack, maybe he could go to the creepatera after their swim. Thoughts on food Zaire lazily found his way into a sitting position on the floor, hand on his leg and head laying on his palm as Jory arrived back into the main room. A glance over the other and he yawned softly before lumbering back into a standing position. It had always amused him how different creeple looked when less clothing was involved, not that he cared to linger long on the others slightly ghouly form.

Jory would probably be soft for snuggling though he thought as the other turned to leave, no rigid looking places on him at least. Too bad he was a spaz when it came to touch.

As the other took off he followed content, head turning here and there as they walked along to read things on the wall. At the question he blinked forgetting himself honestly since the other had taken the lead he had figure he had a preference. "...Whichever.." The response was delivered with a shrug, then an additional comment, "the pools closer." Though he wouldn't mind walking to the lake since they would likely have that nearly alone. "Water's water for me...why don't you pick?" Blues settled over the other and he waited, arms folded over his chest and feet stilling so no extra steps were wasted.

The lake had been a place of comfort many times over for the boil since his arrival at the school. Something to remind him of home, a place he could go to find peace and quiet, to let go of his insecurities and just be. He liked the lake, but he'd never been in a pool, and he had to admit, his curiosity was piqued. "Let's go to the pool then."

Proximity didn't mean anything to the fish boil, but it seemed to for Zaire, so the pool had the added benefit of killing two birds with one stone.

For a minute or two they walked along in silence, and it was companionable, probably, but Jory never did get the knack of reading a situation. He could be fairly oblivious at times, and now was one of them. "So, how have you been?" Useless small talk, but it was polite, right?

Nodding when Jory made up their minds he followed along silently. Zaire liked peace, or well liked it when he wasn't feeling feisty which today wasn't the case. The atmosphere was nice and calming as they walked along together and he liked that, though as the other boil seemed to crack under the pressure of silence he grinned.

What kind of question was that anyways, did creeple still do small talk? If they did he hadn't ran into any of the ones that did lately. Or maybe he had and just hadn't paid as much attention to them, either way, Zaire shrugged at his own thoughts and snorted softly.

Smelling the chemicals of the pool as they rounded the corner a soft of purr rumbled from his throat with his reply, "...fine.." He casually left out the part about starving to death and working out, because it wasn't Jory's business. "Do you..always ask weird questions?" A toothy smile was flashed before it faded to his signature bored look, tail swinging up to open a door for them both as they moved along. "..How are ..your grades?" Pale glowing blues flickered playfully for a moment to the other boil, curious about whomever he had been wishing for before.

The moment the words had spilled out his mouth, the boil wished he could redact them. Zaire's silence, and the following shrug, made it more than obvious that he just should have let the quiet stand. It hadn't been strained, there had been no reason for him to fill it with awkward, generalized questions. He gave a very slight wince, biting down on an apology that wanted to slip out.

It was a relief when they reached the pool, and an even bigger relief with Zaire asked some questions of his own, though the first had the boil shuffling from bare foot to bare foot, with bright baby blues twitching off and away. "Sometimes." His fingers tightened on the towel slung over his shoulders. "I just, um. I get nervous when it's quiet, like if something isn't going on the person will get bored with me and just leave." Blue skin went suddenly very white as he realized just how much he'd just admitted to, and he pressed his towel up into his face, shoulders hunching, to avoid looking at the other boil.

He did still answer the second question, though his voice came out muffled. "My grades are good." It was about the only thing he could boast about, good grades. For a second it seemed as if the boil had completely forgotten about the mall, and the fountain, and the wish, then the tips of his ears dropped, his shoulder's slumped, and he lifted his head from the towel to shoot his companion a narrow-eyed look that fizzled out into something of a more defeated nature.

Zaire knew what he'd wished for, he wasn't stupid, and it would have been rude to continue the charade. "She um.. She's away, on a trip to her home to visit family. I dunno how long she'll be gone for, but a while.." He sighed, then straightened up. "She said I shouldn't just sit around moping and waiting around. " It had made him pretty sad at the time, he really liked Natalia, but with her time away so indefinite, it was also kind of a relief. When she came back, whenever that was, they'd talk again and figure things out. Until then? Well, Jory was gunna play it by ear.

Zaire hadn't noticed Jory's following awkwardness, considering to him the boil was already overly awkward. Keeping his eyes ahead, his shoulders rolled and he gave off a soft sound for a pop that came with the motion. Pulling his towel free of his shoulders as they reached the pool he finally turned. Taking in Jory as the other seemed to internally combust for his questions. Get bored and just leave? Well...he had been guilty of that but at the moment Jory was more than amusing, more so now since he was brave enough to just blurt out how he truly felt.

Something about boldness and honesty always got him, it was rare where he was from and maybe it had everything to do with the fact he couldn't properly expression himself.

As Jory paled he stepped into his personal space and a clawed hand went for the towel hiding the other boils face, though it stopped just before tugging. The color trick was noted, like last time, only he was still slow to connect the dots with why the others skin behaved this way. As Jory came from within the confines to glare at him, he bent to get eye level and smirked slowly teeth flashing. The defeated look was kind of curious though, as the other continued speaking though he got it loud and clear.

On a shrug of shoulders and a low snort he attempted to force a one-armed hug on the other boil before swaying his tail up for a tail bump. "Ghouls..what can you do hm?..." He had met one recently that left him in less of a defeated state and more of a puzzled one. Tossing his towel to the far side of the pools wall so it wouldn't get wet he stepped away from Jory, if the other hadn't already from him, and towards the pool. "Her loss right?...And don't worry about silence..sometimes its better besides.." Glowing eyes flickered back to Jory and he smiled with a single corner of his mouth, "you're interesting enough..." Then the monster boil was gone, doing a backflip into the water.

Jory's towel remained on his shoulders, and his grip on hit tightened when he noticed Zaire's hand coming towards it, though since it was not actively tugging at him, he let it be and didn't comment on it. They weren't strangers anymore, a little casual touching was okay. He just didn't like it so much when he didn't know the individual laying hands on him.

"Well I don't think she wanted to go, but didn't have much of a choice?" They'd talked about it, kind of, before getting distracted, but the boil was still a little foggy on the details, understandably. Whenever Natalia was around, her attention on him as well as those lovely, elegant hands, his brain tended to shut down.

Thinking about it had him drawing in a long breath and letting it go in a sigh, but she stood a little straighter. Zaire was actually pretty nice, and Jory flashed a small smile at the boil as he tossed his towel away and moved towards the water.

The compliment caught him off guard, they usually did, and he was blinking towards the rippling surface of the water where Zaire had back-flipped in. He'd called the fish boil interesting. It wasn't the first time he'd heard that, and though it was still hard to believe, he found himself smiling anyways as he set his own towel down and headed towards the edge of the pool. Instead of a flip, he went for something a little less showy, a simple dive, but his body broke the surfaces with hardly a ripple.

The coolness of the water hit him immediately, and he lingered under, making leisurely strokes with arms and tail to move him in lazy laps.

He noted the rest of Jory's comments on the ghoul, but it wasn't his business outside of curiosity so he let it drop. Besides no reason he saw to bring up bad business when he wanted to enjoy the water. While lazy he might have been on land, water was a different story. Glowing eyes opened under the water to catch Jory as he entered, he could see perfectly and loved the view of things underwater best of all.

A swaying tail propelled him forward and around the other boil. His blue locks went black with the water, swirling around him like spilled ink as he moved to keep from sinking to the bottom of the pool. Towel dropped you could tell Jory was really a boil, he thought with a wiggle of fin and slow smirk.

A glance to the opposite end of the pool was given before a brief and challenging look was slid to the other boil. Would he race, Zaire was curious of how fast he could swim but not for any particular reason, though he wouldn't deny feeling ten times more predator like underwater.

Submerged, Jory let himself hang in the water a moment, eyes tracking the movements of the other boil as he swam circles around him before a flick of his head issued a challenge.

Usually Jory would have been adverse to competition, but underwater? Here he thrived. An usually confident smile traced over pale lips as he gave a small nod, accepting Zaire's challenge.

One thing could be said of the pool, the clarity of the water was something rarely seen in natural bodies of water.

A flick of his tail sent the afanc back in a slow drift towards the wall, and he waited there, the toes of one foot resting lightly on the tile, ready for a kick off.

Zaire's eyes blinked lazily though keeping their stare on the other boil. Watching and waiting. Tick, tock....though surprisingly it didn't take as long as he figured it might.

Maybe Jory was worth more than passing interest.

The smile was all he needed, meeting Jory at the wall his lips opened to mouth a count down. On three he went, feet kicking off the tile as well and large tail swaying behind him for extra speed. A little competition never hurt, this one in particular was making the Mahamba smile toothily as its thrill shook his body.
