Zel stretched, wearing slightly warmer workout clothing as he prepped himself for the spar that he was about to commence. He'd sent a text off to Zaire's boil - Jory. It was strange texting him directly without using Zaire as a proxy, but he chided himself and hoped the other boil wouldn't take offense that it was short and to the point.

This was more business than pleasure after all.

Once he was limber enough, he kept himself moving, trying to keep his limbs warm as he waited to see if the other boil would show. He didn't blame him if he didn't. It was nerve wracking going up against someone you didn't know too well.

The message had been expected in that he had given Zel his number for this very reason, but that didn't keep the afanc boil from looking down at it with a grim expression. A spar. It was something he'd managed to avoid so far in the process of his training, but it seemed that was no longer an option. If Jory turned the demon down he was fairly certain Zaire would be annoyed with hin, and that was the last thing the smaller boil wanted.

Still, there was a certain amount of apprehension involved in heading to the gym, knowing his opponent was going to be Zel. Zel, who was considerably larger then the monster boil.

Jory arrived on the scene in a pair of shorts and a sleeveless hoodie, his fingers twisted together anxiously, and thin shoulders hunched. He was a shy thing. Zaire's presence had a noticeable bolstering effect on his confidence, but he had a tendency to revert back to the social awkward boil he'd been before the mahamba had gotten a hold of him. Ezpecially now, with the promise of a fight in front of him. Maybe not a serious fight, but still.

"Um." His voice was hesitant. Zel was nice, they'd had a good time at the hot springs. It didn't matter, Jory was still nervous. "Hi."

Once Jory showed, Zel stopped his warmup and smiled at the smaller boil. He was glad he'd dressed light - since they were going to probably work up a good sweat in the fight. He had already decided he was NOT going to hold back on him. It just wouldn't be fair.

He did however, offer a hand to Jory with a small smile. "Hey, it's good to see you again." He could see that he was still a bit hesitant about this whole thing so he kept the smile and continued.

"As far as the fight goes - I'm not going to push you too hard - you can yield if you feel like things are getting too rough and I'll stop."

He would give him that small out at least.

A obvious aura of do not want! radiated off the smaller boil, but he returned that smile, took Zel's hand and offered a shake. Possibly not the most firm, but in light of the situation perhaps the demon wouldn't judge him too harshly.

He was torn with conflicting desires. On the one hand he really wanted Zaire there as well, because the mahamba made him feel better, more secure. On the other hand, if he did badly today, he didn't want his boilfriend to witness it. It would be embarrassing, and worst, disappointing. Jory never wanted to disappoint Zaire.

"O-okay, that sounds fair. Thank you." When he took his hand back his fingers had knotted together again, and his head turned to take in their surroundings. It was all open, just them. Nowhere to duck behind, no where to hide.

"How do we do this?" Baby blues flicked back up to Zel's face.

Zel smiled trying to get the other boil to feel more at ease. "Well it's pretty straight forward... we just kinda throw ourselves at each other and first to cry uncle loses."

With that, he ready himself into an attack stance and declared.

"Ready or not, here I come!"

Then he charged the other boil, head-on, wings flared, claws outstretched, a blood-thirsty grin plastered on his face.

Fight time now.

He slashed at the other boil with both claws as he completed his charge, hopping that he could get Jory to understand that this wasn't going to be a walk in the park.

There was a certain undeniable simplicity to Zel's methods, but they were certainly not comforting. Jory looked pale, and this time it had nothing to do with blushing and everything to do with mounting anxiety. Wide eyed, he looked like a pathling caught in headlights as Zel sank into a ready crouch before his bellow and charge had the much smaller oil yelping in surprise.

Nope! He did not like this.

The claws stung as they hit the arms her threw up to protect himself, and it pulled a pained hiss from the afanc as he backpedaled rapidly away from the demon.

But he couldn't just retreat. He needed to learn how to fight back, even if he had no Jacking idea what he was doing here. So, on panicked impulse, he pivoted, tail coming up as he turned to aim a heavy hit at the taller boil's face.

The tail-slap to the face had come out of left field, and Zel had to give Jory props for using what he had at his disposal. The effect was pretty much akin to running headfirst into a streetlamp.

Zel staggered for a moment, stumbling back and lashing out blindly with his own tail, but pretty much unable to make any headway in his counterattack.

Zel staggering caught Jory completely by surprise, as did the wild slash of claws, but the boil was able to jerk back and away from them before they could connect. Apparently his reaction time was getting better, which he supposed wasn't as surprising, given how much effort he'd been putting into working out and endurance training lately.

Maybe he could get lucky again.

Not at all happy about it, the boil went on the offensive, moving forward to take a quick swipe at the other boil's arm. It wasn't amazingly powerful, but he did manage to hit his mark.

The continued assault from the other boil threw Zel completely off balance. For someone who didn't really know how to fight, Jory was sure able to hold his own pretty good.

He could not manage to get a good foot hold or find a decent space for a counter attack, all of his attempts, including an attempt to gore the other boil with his long horns, pretty much amounted to nil.

Was he off his game?

Maybe all the practicing, the training, the prep. Maybe it really was making a difference. Every hit Jory landed resulted in a stunned look from the boil, clearly shocked that he had, in fact, managed to hit his mark.

He continued on the offensive, despite it feeling incredibly foreign to him. Advancing, and looking as uncomfortable as he felt doing so. Another swipe, but the tips of his claws barely connected with the larger boil.

Still, he wasn't doing as poorly as he would have thought. Zaire would be proud of him, right?

Zel slid back farther and farther under the onslaught by the other boil, and finally he'd reached a point of desperation. His eyes were a bit wild as he put some space between him and the afanc - only some of it was play acting he was actually starting to wonder if Zaire had put him up to this as some kind of sick joke.

Was he being hustled?

Even if he was, it was moot at this point. He'd made a promise and he kept them.

But now the fight was going to kick it up a notch.

Pointing his finger at Jory, he called forth his fear and shot forth the lighting bolt that would hopefully make the boil think twice about attacking him.

Instead it just fizzled harmlessly into a nearby light-pole, causing it to overload and the bulb to POP with a loud explosion of glass and debris.

"Oh, Jack me..."

Unfortunately, Zel was not being hustled. It was as much a shock to Jory as it was to the demon boil, and likely Zaire himself when he heard about this little tussle later. Granted, the afanc had always been quick, and likely that didn't his chances this time around. Now that he had a better idea how to use that speed a lot of his reactions were coming darn near second nature now.

Though he did skid to a sudden halt as the winged boil brought up a hand to point at him, brows arched up and features set in alarm. He heard the crackle, felt the buzz of static along his skin, and as lightning shot from his opponent's hand it frightened a scream from the smaller boil that was far from manly.

He flinched, ducking away from the blast, and only when he heard the bursting of the bulb did he look up again, baffled.

It hadn't hit him, Zel had missed. Jory jerked around to stare in horrified awe at the ruined lamp before turning slowly back to face the demon. "Really?" He sounded a little squeaky.

It could be said his next attack was mostly retaliatory. Jory didn't have much of a temper, he folded under pressure and high strain situations, but occasionally a good scare could trigger the fight instinct rather than the flight.

Zel knew that Jory had every right to be aggressive and pissed off at that moment. He had after all - thrown lightning at an aquatic creature. He had basically extended the rudest gesture he probably could have to the other boil.

Oh well.

He was still having trouble getting a good foothold though, he could not for the life of him get the momentum he'd had back.

This fight was going downhill for him. Fast.

Jory wasn't exactly pissed. He was startled, alarmed, completely out of his depth in this situation. Pale features were set in a perpetual state of alarm, boarding on distress. It was a mark to the boil's dedication to this, to Zaire, that he hadn't just forfeit after the first landing strike.

Really, he just wanted it to be over.

And perhaps that was the thought that fueled his next strike. Fear gathered(not that he was fully aware of it), he rushed at the other boil, and when he fit this time it was with considerably more force than anything other he'd managed to land so far against the demon.

Nope, nope.

Yeah, NOPE!

He was done. The next fear fueled hit sent him reeling back with a loud grunt and a string of curses, landing flat on his back and twisting his wings in a very uncomfortable way. Sitting up slowly, he held up a hand.

"I think we're good," Zel laughed then, shakily getting to his feet, his head spinning a bit. "Jack... you hit almost as hard as Zaire, Jory. You sure you really needed my help?"

He tested his wings a moment to make sure nothing was broken, and finding they were fine, he smiled and bowed slightly.

"This is the part where I offer you a meal or drink of your choosing. Loser pays after all."
