The Order of Celestial Light were, originally, started by Amaterasu's father in the lands of Nippon, far, far East from the Kawani lands. When Amaterasu had grown into maturity, she left Nippon to blaze her own trail in life, intending on creating her own sect of the Celestial Light when she found a new land to settle in. Enter the the shadow beast Anju: A monstrous soquil of the likes Amaterasu had never seen before. She was young and naive, and the beast tricked her, resulting in three foals born of their meeting. Amaterasu had guarded the baskets to the best of her abilities, but having gone through childbirth with only her familiar companion Issun at her side, she was no match when Anju struck again. She escaped, but in the scuffle and the pouring rain in the night, the baskets were lost. Amaterasu felt immense shame in her failure to protect her children; they may have been fathered by a monster, but she would have raised them to be good, pure souls. Now, she wouldn't even have the chance to see them grow.

But time heals -- or at least mends -- all wounds. Amaterasu spent a year of self-exile away from the Kawani lands, lost in a haze of depression over her failure to protect her children and to recognize Anju as the true evil he was.

UNCER CONSTRUCTION.

The main goal of the Order of Celestial Light is to eradicate evil from the world, and their number one enemy are the Walkers, followed closely by Kalona. However, the Order exists to bring peace to everyone in all its forms. They offer protection, yes, but they work to settle disputes between herds and individuals, to aid the lost and hungry, to heal the ill and injured. If one needs help, all they need to do is call upon the Celestial Warriors. Their members are called warriors, but not every problem needs to be resolved with violence -- and, in fact, is to be avoided whenever possible.

  • Rid the world of walkers. This is the only instance in which violence is encouraged, because there can be no mercy shown to these beasts. They cannot be cured of their evil and seek only to destroy and kill all that is good. The only solution in dealing with walkers is death. It is believed that the area in which a walker makes their home becomes tainted and needs to be purified, but not only by just killing or driving away the walker that lives there. To purify the area, incense must be burned at the lair of the beast, and drawings of Yomigami, the god of restoration, must be spread out across the territory. Warriors will pray to Yomigami to bless and cleanse the territory of evil to allow life to return to the cursed area.

  • Kalona and other evil soquili, similarly, must be destroyed. However, it is known to the Warriors that some can be reasoned with. If it is possible to resolve the conflict without violence, it's encouraged to do so, but of course that will not always be the case and in some instances, agreements of peace may have been lies. Warriors are to remain in the area until it is certain the enemy is no longer a threat.

  • Some evils cannot be resolved by talks of peace or the elimination of enemies. Issues like this include such things as starvation, injury, lack of shelter, the lost, or even desecrated shrines. Warriors are to help these struggling soquili or familiars resolve their problems in any way they can, as Warriors are not only taught how to fight, but how to find and prepare medicinal herbs, gather and dry out food to last longer, and many other survivalist skills. They can also use their teachings to help cleanse areas that are believed to be cursed.

  • Deities - The Order worships the Celestial Gods, who are represented by constellations in the night sky. It is believed that these beings give those who seek to bring peace to the world the power and blessings to do so. There are twelve gods in total, each with their own meanings and abilities. Although represented by a variety of different animals in the night sky, the Order believes these gods to be pure Angeni if they were to appear in their true forms. Each god also has their own month in which they are believed to be at their strongest, and any soquili born in a certain month are said to be blessed by that month's god. Some of the Celestial Gods will accept offerings of bones, skins, and blood -- but these things must never be taken involuntarily. Bones and skins must be scavenged from animals who have already lived their full lives or died by other means, and blood typically comes from the Celestial Warrior who is making the offering. The Celestial Gods never take living sacrifices -- unless they are walkers.

    • Itegami (January) - Represented by a constellation in the shape of an ox, Itegami is the god of ice.
      • Common Offerings:

    • Gekigami (February) - Represented by a constellation in the shape of a tiger, Gekigami is the god of thunder and storms.

    • Yumigami (March) - Represented by a constellation in the shape of a rabbit, Yumigami is the goddess of the moon.
      • Common Offerings:

      • Common Offerings: Feathers, bird skulls

    • Kasugami (July) - Represented by a constellation in the shape of a sheep, Kasugami is the goddess of mist and hidden things.
      • Common Offerings: Secrets, riddles, books, alcohol

    • Hanagami (August) - Represented by a constellation in the shape of a monkey, Hanagami is the god of flora and nature.

    • Kabegami (October) - Represented by a constellation in the shape of a cat, Kabegami is the goddess of walls.
      • Common Offerings: Rocks, stones
      • Blessings from Kabegami are often sought before dealing with a difficult or seemingly impossible obstacle, when one feels stuck in their life or blocked from reaching their goals. She will grant the Celestial Warrior the strength and wisdom needed to push through the difficulties at hand, often by taking a step back and viewing the issue from a distance to take in the full picture.

    • Bakugami (November) - Represented by a constellation in the shape of a boar, Bakugami is the god of explosive force.
      • Common Offerings:

    • Tachigami (December) - Represented by a constellation in the shape of a rat, Tachigami is the god of warriors.
      • Common Offerings: A drop of blood from the warrior seeking a blessing, walker pelts

  • Celestial Envoys - Familiars of Soquili who are members of the Order are known as Celestial Envoys. They are seen as imperative members of the herd, as it is through their work that not only do the Celestial Warriors keep in contact with each other, but they also spread the stories of their bonded soquili. The intention of this is not to gloat, but to make soquili all around the Kawani lands aware that there is a herd out there dedicated to helping others, and that if you are in trouble, they can be called upon for help. Familiars use their paws, claws, tails, and even wing tips to draw these images, using flat rocks, leaves, and sometimes even cave walls to depict the exploits of the Celestial Warriors and their triumphs over evil. In addition, they will also spread the tales by word out mouth to other soquili and spirit-touched familiars.
    • Not all Celestial Warriors have familiars when they join. If this is the case, they may still carry out all duties expected of them as they normally would if they wish, but they are also tasked with a personal quest of their own to find their familiar. It's a personal journey and often taken alone, as it is believed that one must be free of distractions and become in tune with nature in order to discover one's familiar. Celestial Warriors without familiars are still seen as equals to those who do have them; it is not seen as something to look down on. If unbonded for a long time, it's often believed that the spirits are withholding a soquili and a familiar from finding each other until a time when they need each other the most.

  • Curses & Taboos
    • For those with unicorn or kirin horns, it is considered a taboo to use one's horn as a weapon. They are tools for healing, not violence. If such a thing occurs, the soquili in question must complete a purification ritual, during which they are excused from duties for a month. The ritual consists of cleansing one's horn with blessed water, and making offerings to each of the Celestial gods and goddesses, one every other day. They are not allowed to use their horns for healing until the ritual is done.

The Order of Celestial Light is not a herd in the official sense; to remain in one place marked as their territory would not be an efficient way to spread their protection across all of Kawani. Instead, members of the Celestial Light communicate long distance by way of their familiars as they travel the lands. Settling down or traveling in groups is not prohibited, of course; members of the Celestial Light can also settle down with another herd and still be considered a member for as long as they wish to be. If a meeting is needed, word will spread across their network as to where and when to meet.

There are no ranks. Amaterasu is the founder of the Kawani sect of the Celestial Light and therefor plays the part of the alpha, but otherwise all members are considered to be Celestial Warriors. There is no Protector. All members are expected to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities and, if the danger is too great, to call upon aid to help vanquish the evil they have discovered. Familiars also play a very important role in the Order; every Soquili is expected to have one, as they are not only your messengers but your Celestial Envoy. If a Soquili does not have an Envoy at the time of joining, it will be their first task to complete.

There are a few rules to keep in mind before applying.

1. No Walkers or pure Kalona. Half-Kalona are acceptable, but know that they will be heavily scrutinized and will have to work to prove themselves. (This is a rule that may change to allow pure Kalona later as the herd matures, though Walkers will never be accepted.) Otherwise, there are no breed limitations -- even mers, usdia, and seathi may join! It's the purity of one's heart and soul that matters the most, not the size of your body.
2. No evil. At all. There is no exception to this rule. If you have a Soquili with a dark past who wishes to redeem themselves or has already left their dark past behind, or even have a dark soquili who wishes to trick the herd by joining, this is something we can discuss! It could make for good plot.
3. Having a familiar bonded to your soquili is highly encouraged, BUT NOT REQUIRED.

If you have a Soquili you'd like to join, fill in and post one of the forms below! Please fill it out per each Soquili or Familiar you'd like to join.

Q: Does my Soquili really have to have a familiar?

A: Nope! Your Soquili may join the group if they don't have a familiar yet, and they may remain as such even if it takes a long time to find a familiar. In an effort to encourage getting a familiar for your Celestial Warror, I am offering to pay in full for anyone's custom/semi-custom/raffle win/etc familiar for their herd member. (Please don't abuse this offer, I will stop if people join the herd just to get free familiars). You will still need to get the slot/win yourself, but when you do, just message me to let me know! I will also start holding private raffles open to herd members only of some familiar breedings to help. So, don't worry if you'd like to join but don't have a familiar for your Soquili yet. I'll do my best to help you out, and you can still RP and be considered a member while you wait.
