[PRP] Show and Tell (Sammy and Jordan)

Waiting was the worst thing in the world, when you didn't need sleep it meant you constantly found yourself doing something to pass the time, but what if you had nothing to pass the time? Sleeping, nor Meditation came easy to Sammy. As a matter of fact sleeping or passing out left her rather unsettled because it was so unusual to her. Even being in bed with Siddie she would constantly be on a phone or trying to read a book, though at least in that case she found it slightly easier to sleep knowing the ghoul was near by.

But in this case she wasn't near by, and Sammy was tired of reading, she should have brought a better book. Here at the haunted house which you never really knew when you would show up there she could only wait and use what was with her at that very moment and coming back from a class did not lead to a very fun filled bag of things to do. Unless you enjoyed homework regarding legal wording and contracts.

So Sammy sat just outside the haunted house lingering in the woods near by waiting for an exit home to appear or for someone else to show up, and the waiting was starting to get really annoying even with her eyes put out and books tucked away to wait for time to pass....

Haunted House patrol was never quite predictable. The path migh be the same as last time with only minor alterations, or the House might have shifted into a completely different configuration, or something might be lying in wait, or you might have nothing happen at all. This time, the House had presented Jordan with a new but very definite path, all doors locked but one in each corridor or room, and he'd gotten the definite sense that the House was gently urging him onward, watching, interested quite personally in what he was doing. So it came as no particular surprise when a door opened onto the outer grounds, where a figure lingered, apparently waiting.

He circled around through the lingering wisps of fog, relaxing only slightly when he realized who the other person was. Last time they'd spoken, they'd been in relative agreement, and the conversation had been interrupted by an Insanity creature, pushing them to work together. "Good to see you survived the gardening incident," he said as he approached, his hands empty at his sides.

The ghoul didn't move at first, she simply sat where she was focusing on nothing, and yet everything? Well trying to focus on everything which in turn was distracting, so she didn't notice anything so she stopped trying and that's when she started to notice, and so on and so on. Meditation was hard okay?

It was at this point she finally did notice something, something that cut through the insanity and the ambient fear, it was a whiff, something of smoke? She wasn't sure but her eyes flickered to life as Jodan spoke.

"Don't worry, you of all people should know I'm rather tough to kill. By the way teach me how to do that get out of jail free thing you hunters do. It'd be nice to have when one of you less friendly ones decides I smell bad or something," this was said with a smirk, like he would offer that up to her.

"Been looking for you actually." She finally added as she got up stretching in the process, "Something I wanted to show you actually."

Jordan shrugged. "I'm not in on the secrets of pendant crafting," he said. "I presume it involves runes." Not exactly a big secret, considering that most of hunters' technology involved runes. It was true, though; he hadn't trained in rune-crafting. "I'd imagine that there's some equivalent technique you could access, but I wouldn't know what it is."

His eyebrows jumped as Sammy said that she'd been looking for him; he didn't step closer yet. "Something you wanted to show me?" he repeated, curious but cautious.

"Fair enough, you seem more the smashy crushy things." She sighed though as he spoke about runes, "I've never seen stuff related honestly I wouldn't be shocked if it was a hunter thing only?" There was more shrugging.

Finally he questioned what she had to show, reaching to her jacket she stood up pulling it aside to show off the gold heart pendant and its spiked edges, the soft, and very familiar shade of blue growing from the middle symbol included as she held it up.

"This. I think you of all people would know that symbol in the middle."

"Not sure," Jordan said thoughtfully. "It taps into Fear energies, so I'd presume it'd be usable by Fear creatures, but if it's not common there ... " He trailed off, considering it. "Archaic? Or human-designed?" he mused, mostly to himself.

His eyebrows jumped as Sammy revealed the pendant she wore, its familiar symbol and the shade of blue he knew as instinctively as he knew Ferros's magma-red glow. "Yeah. An artifact?" he asked. "Where did you find it?" He thought of the blue jewel they'd brought back from the strange mirrored version of the casino, and wondered a little uneasily if there were other Blue artifacts out there, waiting to be retrieved. "What does it do?"

"I think we can use them, the first time I ever saw one was when a few of us stumbled into some kinda half way gate to the human world. We weren't fully there, shadows, we saw one in the trees and tried to get it because it felt like a good idea. Not sure who got it or what happened to it when we all blinked back." His last musings caused Sammy to shrug, "Human, we might have runes but ya'll live off them."

While he inspected her pendant she stood very still letting him take in the symbol proper, "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." She gave the chain a jerk the whole pendant popping up into the air and flipping end over end as it summoned proper, the flash of blue extending from both ends to form the grip and blade before it planted its self firmly in the ground between them.

"It came from Excalibur."

"Hm." Jordan didn't venture any guesses, but frowned thoughtfully. "I suppose Fear creatures wouldn't need to use runes. You can use the energies much more directly than humans can. You might be able to find an artifact that did something similar. Or craft one." He hesitated a moment, then said, "Runic items require recharging after use."

The blue flash made him jump back, and as a blade summoned from the pendant, he reflexively fell into a fighting stance, feet planted and right hand reaching out and back, a stance that Sammy would recognize easily from the times they'd faced off or stood together in battle. Ferros's ring flashed brightly. Then, abruptly and without actually summoning, he shook his head and made himself relax, standing up straight again. "s**t," he said, "warn a guy."

"Excalibur? Directly?" His eyebrows jumped, and the look in his eyes went briefly intense.

"But take an undead like myself, we aren't magically inclined I can't manipulate fear into a portal any more then you probably can. Hence the runes which allow you to do so, or possibly even us?" His later explanations where good as well, the recharging part made her frown, she likely wouldn't like how that process went.

Still she didn't move even as Jordan dropped into a fighting stance ready to summon the weight of his own weapon while the blade manifested between them. "C'mon can't a ghoul show boat a bit? You get to summon flashy weapons all the time let me have some fun now Jordan." She grinned.

To his question she shrugged a bit, "I can't say for sure? But I was in another place, somewhere they created. We spoke. They made an offer and I accepted with a possible price. You and I both know the fact I'm talking to you like this would make a lot of people on my side of the fence really pissed off or even call me a traitor. I even already have one friend who thinks Excalibur and in turn Protection will corrupt me."

"It's a lot like an artifact. I don't carve my own runes, so I couldn't explain it to you personally," Jordan said, and half-shrugged. "My specialty is combat and combat training. You'd have to get someone from Life division who specializes in runic power to get information about that process."

He laughed a little. "Reflex. Usually if someone summons on us they're about to point it in our direction, possibly at high speed, and we damn well better be ready to defend ourself."

He touched his arm without seeming to notice that he'd done so, just above the crook of the left elbow. "Seems like the Legacies are getting a lot more active and personal lately," he said, and a faint frown creased his brows. "Don't know what I think about that."

"You? Combat? Never would have guess that. Nope." She grinned walking towards her blade. "Then maybe do me a favor, find someone who knows about they kinda stuff? Maybe give em a shake or have them tag along some time?"

Flesh fingers wrapped around the hilt of her weapon as she drew it from the dirt slowly flipping it up over onto her shoulder. "Fair enough, can't blame you since we feel the same way about most hunters."

Shifting her weapon, she exposed the bright blue gem, the same from the pendant now the cross guard of the sword burning faintly in the dark.

"Maybe, but this one I sought out, this one I called for because I wanted to seek its power." She flexed her grip over the blade again. "I've made my choice. I need this if I want to protect us all."

"If I can do so safely." Jordan watched Sammy draw the sword from the ground, and his hand flexed unconsciously, his posture tense. It hadn't been that long since they'd been at odds, and while he didn't think she was about to get aggressive, his reflexive reactions remained wary.

He blinked, clarified, "I mean we as in myself and Ferros, but yeah, that works too."

He watched the blue gem glowing. "Be careful," he said soberly. "Power has its price."

Sammy nodded quickly, "Yeah I don't want to cause too much trouble for you." She kept her distance standing well out of reach with her sword and Feros as well chuckling.

"C'mon you can't forget to include him in your plans. He's too big to forget." She offered a wink aimed more at the hammer then Jordan.

Still his somber attitude caused her to pause the blade resting over her shoulder as she eyed Jordan. "You're talking like you've paid a price." She lowered the weapon sinking it into the ground between her feet resting her palms on the hilt.

"Have you?" she said softly.

"Don't know the official channels for having Fear creatures work with us. If there are any. But there should be." Jordan frowned thoughtfully. "I've seen Boogeymen who work with Hunters, presumably on a regular enough basis ... " He trailed off, rubbing his thumb absently over Ferros's ring.

Ferros chuckled rustily. Too big, he said, pleased. Jordan smiled. "Flattering him? It's working."

He shook his head, smile fading. "Not yet myself. I've seen other people pay for their deals, and I've been ... marked. I don't know what will come of it. If I survive it, I'll let you know."

"Honestly, I don't think it is official, Red wasn't. What ever else is going on it's probably super low key." She shrugged, "Last time we worked together was Olympus yeah? And that was more like, common enemy deal."

Sammy held up two bone finger leaving a tiny space between, a grin on her face, "Just a bit. I want him on my side as much as you. He's your best feature Jordan."

Still the smile faded and the conversation took a serious note as she had expected. "Care to share what they paid and who's bed they decided to lay in?" She paused again, "Who did you make a deal with?"
