The day was sunny and pleasant, as usual, and Talela was feeling especially sprightly. Vimiath, on the other hand, was feeling especially itchy. They had sashayed down to the beach, and the diminutive gold dragon was having herself a nice roll in the sand before her bath. A long, luxurious roll. With limbs flailing, she scrubbed every inch of her hide. When she stood up, the sand ran off of her golden body in tiny streams.
She shook the remaining sand all over her rider, who laughed and gave the gold a rather ineffective but goodnatured shove. Talela dusted herself off and gave her thick ginger hair a good finger-combing, then walked with Vimiath toward the water. She kept her palm on the dragon’s shoulder, sharing warm thoughts.
At the edge of the shore, where the waves just began to caress her toes, Vimiath spotted a fellow gold wallowing out a ways and bugled a cheerful greeting.

Lyraeth looked up at the bugle and returned it. Today was a good day. She'd convinced hers to bring the scented oils today--and the water was glorious! She'd be sure to tell Eorawth what a day he missed, later.
Vimiath, the water is wonderful. Come swim. she invited.
Resa spotted Talela and smiled. "I didn't feel like swimming," she said. "Lyraeth's glad for Vimiath's company."
