Vosin knew time was drawing near. She saw the signs in Killakeeth's temper, and her brightening hide. The young red-headed woman kept them close to Western Weyr with trivial tasks and waited.

One early morning, the light had just barely begun to brighten horizon when fury and passion woke Vosin from her sleep. It would be now. Killakeeth rose from her sandy wallow with fury in her movements. She hissed as her eyes whirled with deep reds and purples. The gold, despite her bulk, moved quickly to the feeding pens.

Vosin rolled from her bed and grabbed a robe to throw about her shoulders as she dashed after her dragon. Blood it only! Wills clashed silently as she sped down the path. Vosin sensed the dragon kill a herdbeast with a swipe of her claws and lower her muzzle over the warm body. Don't you dare eat it Killakeeth! Blood it! Vosin skidded to a halt at the edge of the pens, green eyes flashing as she imposed her will upon the huge beast.

Killakeeth snarled, her tail lashing but eventually latched onto the throat and sucked it dry. The hot blood going down her throat felt right and she knew she'd fly high and far today. She rose up and took down a second, and drained it as well. Killakeeth raised her muzzled and roared into the twilight light of morning.

Wake my dragons! Wake and raise wing and talon to fly with me! Killakeeth called and launched herself into the sky still speckled here and there with night stars.

Vosin: Loves adventures. Values her family (her siblings) the most. Can get carried away by her emotions.

3. Participants may be brown or bronze only. Sorry blues.

7. Killakeeth will post at the start of each round, and let you know which stat to rng.
8. Killakeeth may also lash at dragons who get too close, resulting in a deduction of points.
9. Fill out the stat form.
10. Male riders have option for a chance at producing a child with Vosin as a result of the flight.

~ Extra Notes ~
1. If you play an NPC brown or bronze and you win the flight, the shop will turn that bronze or brown into an actual PC derg with art!

3. The winner of the Clutch Dad will get the option to write one PC clutch baby, and participate in the Clutching, Touching, and Hatching. Details to come post-Flight.
4. Even if you don't win, all participants will be eligible for some prizes as thanks for keeping the shop alive!

~ About Fighting ~
1. Fighting among flight participants (the dragons that is) is allowed!
2. In choosing to fight, realize you lose the option for advancement.
3. You may only attack a dragon within 10 points of yourself.
4. Instead of rolling for the stat Killakeeth requested you may choose instead to fight that round. You will rng 1-(fight stat) and quote the person you deduct the number from their total.
5. Dragons may not go below 0 points. If a dragon reaches 0 points then they drop out.

T'mor had been all wound up about the baby and it had made him stricter with Phylideth than he'd been even when they'd first become Wingleaders. Even Cloveth's attentions hadn't been enough for the brown - not that they were particularly dedicated to each other in the way their riders had become, as far as he saw it.

So when the call went out, the glimmering hide of Killakeeth stirring in the early lights of morning, he too stirred rumbling like the beast he was and stirring his rider awake. Wha- Killakeeth takes to the sky! I am going! Do not stop me T'mor didn't even try to tether his brown to his ledge, instead shifting in bed to cuddle up closer with Amiari in his half-awake stupor.

It was the best place to be anyways.

Phylideth, on the other claw, pushed off and up to follow after the rising gold, bellowing answer to her beckoning. I come for you! There is no need for the others when the best has already arrived!

He felt sick, like a burning fire in his stomach. F'ell had woken up to Teth's sudden stream of delight, of a panicked urging that the rider had never felt from his brown before. There was the familiar coloring in it of the joys of flight, but as soon as he'd made it outside it was obvious something was different. Teth looked almost feral for a moment or two, those normally loving and gentle green eyes redder than blood. That passed in the blink or two to be replaced by a deep purple, and F'ell felt his guts flip. "Te...teth."

Why did he feel weak? Teth chased all the time and yet here it felt like the first time his beast was going up for flying. Like he'd never experienced this level of lust before. "C...calm down. Y..youyou're - "

I will chase and I will catch her. I will catch her and show you and show her. Teth's voice rumbled inside F'ell's mind, inside his chest. There was a was of love as though that would soothe the unease F'ell was feeling, but it did nothing. A Queen! My Queen!!

The large brown took off running, scattering sand as he launched himself into the sky with a furious but delighted bugle. He would chase, he would catch! I am here! Awooo!

Brown Teth

Teth: A lovely brown dragon, who is kind and loyal (if not a bit........Teth-y. Large and loud. Will accept anyone who wants to be with him =)

- UNLIKELY TO FIGHT BACK, BUT DO NOT PUSH HIM TOO HARD
F'ell: If he has to, will only accept a male partner. As it is, he is likely getting as drunk as possible so he blacks out somewhere and doesn't have to deal with this. Wants to be with Aerden probably

Aurelia of Brown Wolveth
User Image

The morning sun always found the smaller brown form of Wolveth already awake and perched upon the heights, watching the surrounding area while his slept on. There was no difference this day even as red whirling eyes watched the progress of a shinning gold hide go to the feeding pens and then back into the air.

Purple moved to tinge the color of his eyes as he watched the lovely golds progress, an angry rumble echoing through his chest at the sight of another male already in the air.

You haven't even taken off yet... The words from his bonded were lazy and almost bored. Wolveth snarled in response before he took to the air. He ignored the other brown at this time focusing on the golden queen before him.

You shouldn't have to deal with a dragon as pathetic as this one. The words were spoken in a deep guttural growl as he neared the pair. There would be others following after her and he was ready, and willing, to draw ichor to prove he was the best.

It was early morning when Turoth stirred, his great head lifting from his wallow to peer at the sky. What had woken him up? Yawning, he was about to tuck his head back atop his paws when he heard the bellow go up, echoing in the otherwise silent pre-dawn. That caught his attention, and as the glowing gold rose into the sky, a beacon of light in the growing dawn, he rose to his feet to join her. In his bed Ar'ad stirred as well, his dragon waking him, and he sat up to blink the sleep from his eyes.

"Turoth? Who is it?" he asked, yawning softly before sliding out of bed.

Killakeeth, the massive bronze replied as he moved to the ledge of their weyr. She is a stunning sight, is she not?

"Save your words for her, not me," the man said with a little chuckle, reaching out mentally to give the bronze a good luck pat. He knew his Turoth was fond of chasing golds - indeed, it was the only time he saw a little fire in his eyes outside of fighting Thread - and he had caught Vimiath once before, so he wasn't about to deny his dear partner the joy of the chase.

The encouragement was all Turoth needed as he spread his vast wings and jumped from the ledge, eating up the air between him and the glowing gold. Already other dragons were rising to meet her, calling their own challenge, but he paid them no mind at all. His eyes were for Killakeeth and no one else.

It seems the sun has risen early this day, and what a sight you are, Killakeeth. He could sense that the queen's temper was as hot as the blood she had consumed before rising, but fighting wasn't his main goal here. If it was called for, so be it. He had the scars to prove he wouldn't back down from a challenge. But that was of little importance to him. He was here to fly with Killakeeth, to chase and to catch, ichor spilled or otherwise.

Back in the weyr, Ar'ad slowly got ready for the early morning. Whether or not Turoth would claim the queen as his, he knew the flightlust would grab him and the rest of Western sooner rather than later. Best to get a head start on making his way somewhere more populated.

NPC L’nan of Bronze Verituth

It was early morning, the time for sleepy soakings and reading over a cup of klah. What it was not time for, in L’nan’s opinion, was roaring dragons and sudden flightlust. His dragon, who was not the one roaring at least, was already moving though and L’nan had no chance of retrieving him from the flight. With a slightly put-upon sigh, and a good deal of pouting, the man rose from his tub and set about getting ready to go find this Goldrider.

Verituth was much less reluctant to court a lovely lady this fine morning. Within moments of hearing the call the bronze was up and moving. A fine wake up call indeed, radiant Killakeeth! He surged out from his ledge. I cannot think of a more worthy challenge to rise for today.

NPC T'ech of Bronze Mazoroth

The sun hadn't even been up yet, and T'ech was already up. It was the minimum he could be, having been keeping watch the second half of the night. He scratched absently at the Threadscore scarring that crossed his face and had blinded his left eye, effectively grounding him as a fighting rider. It was, frankly, a disappointment and a shame, all that hard training he'd done in his youth for naught in a moment. Well, somewhat for naught, he still had a well of knowledge he could offer if anybody wanted to ask.

His attention was drawn by movement below, as would be any human's, even with one good eye, and he spied Killakeeth. "Oh. Shards..." Behind him, a lumbering giant stirred. Thankfully, the change of watch was already rising from below to take their place, a much more placid blue. "Mazoroth, don't-"

I know, T'echmine. The effect wasn't surely easy to achieve, but the dragon gave his rider a look like he had rolled his eyes. Don't bite, don't claw. Only chase. He snorted, then moved to the edge as the blue arrived, letting out a rumbling roar. Mazoroth comes for you, Killakeeth! With a shove of his powerful muscles, the bronze launched into the sky, wide-stretching wings beating to bring him higher into the sky.

T'ech could only watch for a moment, humming, as the flight lust prickled at his skin, admiring his dragon, his other half, rising into the sky, the growing dawn shimmering on his hide and causing the Threadscore scars to pop out all the more. Mazoroth wasn't effectively crippled as T'ech had been, but he wasn't unaffected. The rider hummed again, then looked at the bluerider, "Don't suppose you could be a friend and give me a lift down?"

Honestly, he'd been noticing Killakeeth for the last few days. Her hide had been glowing, and she? She was growing more and more beautiful every day. With a low rumble in his chest that night, the bronze had settled in for sleep. It was as dawn's rays just began to brighten the horizon that a roar woke both dragon and rider, Sigurath looking out over the ground of Western with a bugle of contentment in turn to her challenge. Eyes whirled a deep purple, studded with blues like stars themselves. His rider couldn't help the low laugh, settling back in to his bed and making a gesture. The intent was clear. Sigurath had free reign to fly the Gold, for H'ral was content in his place at the moment. No need to warn the bulky creature.

One powerful thrust of his wings drew him up, higher and faster, in to the sky, crooning loudly and offering the lovely gold a soft hum of approval, Beautiful Killakeeth, your hide shines like the brightest star Pern could ever hope to see. Today is yours, and the honor of chasing is mine. I will ever strive to equal you in flight, for nothing would please me more than the pleasure of your company. True, the bronze was the poetic sort, but did this Gold not deserve it? She far outshone any competition here. The sun itself shall pale in the glory of your hide. He would fly for her, and he would fight, for his place was here...in the sky, chasing her.

Tension lingered in the pre-dawn gloom. It rippled through the air, unseen but echoing within him. It called to his heart, pulling him from his slumber. Restless, he set his eyes on the horizon and waited.

Ansheth often waited for the sun. It brought life and energy to the world. It was a private ritual of his to watch the sunrise.

He did not realise that the sun was called Killakeeth, that day.

She approached the feeding pens with an insatiable appetite, and he found his own stirring from deep within. The bronze was a quiet creature, more given to thought than spectacle; but there was no denying he needed her. The ichor coursed through his veins, screaming at him to move, to throw himself into the fray. He resisted, mastering the impulse to posture and roar as others might have. Instead, he rose from his wallow, glanced towards his rousing rider, then moved with a solemn respect for the queen and her glorious Flight to come.

He rumbled, a low, bassy sound, as he approached, inclining his head as he set upon a large beast with practiced ease. Rukbat cannot compare to you, my Lady. He intoned, drinking deep of blood as his eyes burned with the furious crimsons and purples of love. May your light guide us as you measure our worth. Functionally, the other suitors mattered little to him; but it was imperative she had as much choice as possible- for her own delight, and for the wellbeing of her children. It was the right way.

There was no mental-collision-headache as O'dyn rubbed his eyes, but he found Ansheth's lust leaking into his mind, shaping his first thoughts. Faranth, Killakeeth had picked a spectacular time to Rise, he thought wryly. Still… Ansheth was partial to her- and who was he to deny him another chance at fatherhood? Their previous clutch together had been magnificent…

The man reached for a shirt and loose trousers, donning them before making his way to the pens. The way the first light caught Vosin's hair… wait, was that the flightlust talking? Ah, shells… well, still, he couldn't stop the silly grin from spreading across his face. If Ansheth was happy, and if Killakeeth was too, in the end... then all would be well.

OOC

Rider: O'dyn
Open to having more children; has two much beloved of his own.
Dragon: Bronze Ansheth

About O'dyn: A veritable papa-bear, O'dyn has a great sense of humour and plenty of dad jokes up his sleeve. He can also be fierce when needed, and will defend his kin to the very last- a stubborn but warm-hearted man. He is mildly interested in any gender in regards to Flightlust, but believes himself firmly off the table when it comes to love.

About Ansheth: A noble dragon who might remind some of old feudal knights, Ansheth has manners coming out the wazoo. Some might call him overly stuffy and boring, but his courteous charm and diplomatic ways have won him many allies and friends in the past. He has a lot of curiosity for the natural world, and a rather large amount of patience for the creatures who fill it. He will not fight initially, but will fight back if provoked/attacked. It would be very ungentlemanly to draw first blood, afterall.

NPC K'srin of Bronze Cyndreth
Killakeeth rises.

The bronze's tail lashed, as he watched from the feeding pens. He'd known she would rise--everyone did. Her hide, her personality shifts, her timing...they'd all pointed to one thing. Cyndreth was ready, of course. Not that he'd known it would be right now, exactly, but he didn't want to miss it, so he'd been hanging around. Of course she'd come here, before heading into the skies...not that the queen would have let anyone miss her.

Lovely. A perfect day to win a flight. K'srin grinned, stretching and jumping from his bed. Winning a goldflight at Western didn't mean quite as much as it did elsewhere, but it could still give him a leg up. Any edge he could get over his competition would be just that--an edge. Naturally, he couldn't waste an opportunity. He had plots and plans, enough ready for any situation, but he was biding his time.

Cyndreth siring eggs, at the very least, would be a boon.

Cyndreth watched Killakeeth, quietly glancing around at the other gathering dragons. He wouldn't underestimate any of them, but were these the best the Weyr had to offer? He was confident in his own abilities. He gave Killakeeth a quiet nod, already assessing every factor he could, but he didn't speak. Not yet. Instead, he simply followed her into the air.

K'srin is a man who is difficult to pin down; while he seems rather superficial and carefree at first glance, perhaps even indulgent and vain, there is an edge beneath the surface that he doesn't try to hide. His true ambitions are known to few, but he does seem charismatic and charming, for all his flaws. He's definitely up to something...but what?

Cyndreth's "edge" is even greater than his rider, at least in terms of overtness. Not an especially nice dragon, but not a cruel one either, Cyndreth is chilly and calculating, willing to do whatever will net him the greatest gain. Every risk must be calculated before he takes it. Luckily, he's a quick thinker, and capable of making split second decisions. When emotions are high, he becomes surprisingly emotional and vicious, known to lash out, even if it ruins his plans. He tries to avoid this.

O'len was well aware of what was happening even before Aleyath broke into his muzzy morning thoughts.

Hellooooooooo?

Morning.

Hi! Good morning! Hello. O'len. Yes. How are you?

I'm fine, Aleyath. He squinted out over the edge of his bed at the brown perched on the ledge outside. Go on. You know where to find me. There had been other greenflights since the revelatory experience that was Seirath's, other handsome dragons paying visits to his brown's ledge, but O'len had always ended up in the same place.

Maybe today you'll try somewhere new. A new mate for a new gold.

Oh. A gold. Perhaps he hadn't been quite as aware as he had thought. The man chuckled, his mirth mingling with his dragon's giddy excitement, and then Aleyath was off, taking to the air for the chase.

The loveliest gold in the weyr rises! He trumpeted a chipper fanfare. Shining, sparkling Killakeeth, you shimmer like the most beautiful of jewels, and I'm the greatest jewel hunter in all of Pern! His flirting game had gotten slightly stronger, but he was still more enthusiasm than poise.

Now there was something. The pre-dawn sky had just begun to pale with the faint pinks and purple-greys that heralded the morning, the colors bleeding into periwinkle blues that streaked across the world to roll back the wall of night over the still-sleepy Weyr. On his distant perch, the watchdragon rose and stretched, blue wings flapping against the already balmy air. Even this early there was a faint hum about the place; like the great Terran cities of old, long forgotten to the people of Pern, the Weyrs never truly slept. Someone was always working, moving, and a few dark flecks could be seen sliding across the sandy bowl. Like trundlebugs they crawled from place to place, going about whatever morning duties called them. Up on their ledges or in the sandy pits about the scattered huts leading away towards the beach, the sounds of dragons spread; rolling, yawning, and the rare trill or chirp.

But today it was not the sun that rose from the horizon, glittering and dappled with a molten glow—or at least it was not the golden star of Rukbat that caught Nasath's attention and awe, rousing him from a dreamy half-slumber where he lay upon his cool stone couch—it was Killakeeth.

Up like a light the bronze rose in a flash, the burnished bulk of his form moving swifter than his girth belied. Onto his feet, onto the edge; he perched just a moment with his wings half unfurled, cupping the air and feeling it curl. A faint breeze off the sea, full of the scents of salt and the iron tang of blood, freshly spilled, and the unique spice of dragonhide... It was more than enough, and even before the golden dragon's cry of enticing challenge rang out, he was off, his eyes full of fuschias, mallows, and phlox. He bunched onto his haunches and then launched into the sky: one great bounding leap all it took to bear him aloft. He was not alone in his want, of course—many would come for the honor of winning such a glorious dragon's attention—but he paid them all little mind as he soared after his prize. He could not blame them, or fault them, though inside he already felt a small twist of pity; surely she would chose himself, of course, and the rest would be left wanting. He banked in a close arc to the pale cloudy brown, coming up from behind and choosing that exact moment to bellow out, his brassy trumpet exploding joyfully into the air from just over Phylideth's shoulder.

Handsome Killakeeth, worry not! You've got all these fine suitors to choose from, as you well deserve, but the best is here now! Even if the rest fail to pass your muster, Nasath will be here to indulge your every whim and want, my sweet dawn-star!

Down below in the weyr, his rider curled deeper into his bed, one hand already tugging his pillow over his head to smother the bugles and snarls that soon filled the air. It was near enough to the time he arose, A'iel considered glumly from beneath the soft barrier—not that much in way of work would get done today, with half the Weyr getting caught up in the sport and excitement of a goldflight. He felt a slight nudge through the bond with his dragon, the bronze chuffing, amused, at his lack of enthusiasm. You ought to find yourself one to catch as well, you know—they'd be lucky to have you—since you probably won't be able to get much done otherwise anyway. But rather than rise, the man simply pulled the pillow tighter over his head, sighing into the mattress noncommittally.

E’roe had drunk too much again. Thankfully, this meant he was drowsy rather than irritable and headache-y this time. He stirred with a small moan to find Dhumavath puddled into himself at the ledge, flavors of grey tinging new colors in his eyes.

“Oh,” E’roe said with a yawn as he sat up, also puddling into himself and the sheets alike. A hand came up unconsciously to fix his mustache. “What’s this?”

< A gold, > Dhumavath replied without moving.

“Oh.” That sparked his attention. He yawned again. “Well, which one?”

< The gambler. >

“Oh.”

The silence stretched as E’roe slowly, slowly got out of bed and stretched. Neither were very big pushers, but instinct was as great a motivator as they came. Still, the brown remained still as stone, watching contestants rise.

“You’ll probably get attacked again,” E’roe thought aloud as he washed his face. “Mind yourself if you join. I’d hate to go back to the infirmary for each and every flight.”

Dhumavath said nothing.

“And, er, please do give it your all, dear heart.” E’roe’s stab at support was mild mannered but earnest. “If you do go, that is. Giving up is poor sport.”

Dhumavath turned his head slightly, eyes showing the faintest hint of orange and red. His rider was referencing Erinyeth’s flight, which he could not deny had ended on a sour note for him, but the other practically hatchling green Nzambith had not been half assed. He resented the idea of going at all now, if His would be judging.

E’roe sighed at his life partner as he dabbed his face clean with a towel. “Go ahead then, sweetest, prove me wrong,” he said gently. “If nothing else, a dragon pairing with Kill and Doom in their names would be much to your liking, no?”

Dhumavath eyed him, the defensiveness slowly giving way again to lust, before getting up. With a loud snort, the brown dropped off his ledge and took flight, plunging down before swerving back towards the growing herd of dragons. E’roe sighed again and considered his options: he always did like the idea of writing amidst flightlust....

Like stone, the dragon ignored the throng of faces, familiar and unfamiliar. No-one was a friend now, not even the irritatingly cheerful idiots, whom he avoided like the plague as per usual. Dhum knew of Killakeeth at least a little: they shared common ground in indulging food, in that everyday pleasure for survival by tearing into something sweet. The brown was visibly on the heftier side for it, though it had its uses when he bothered.

< What a feast you have coming, > Dhumavath said to her, his words as ponderous in weight as he was—funerary rather than celebratory. < So many morsels to choose. For whom will the breakfast bell toll, I wonder, Killakeeth-Gambles-With-Lives? >

Oh.

Oh.

Garganth's head snapped up from the sandy wallow he'd made for himself, woken soundly from his slumber by the summons that already had his hearts beating double-time. The huge, scarred bronze surged to his feet, his enormous wings fanning out so they could beat hard and help him climb into the skies. He bellowed in response to the roar that had sounded out, his eyes whirling with indigo hues as he joined the gathering swarm of other bronze and brown forms.

Killakeeth! Mighty queen! He roared once more, his eyes fixed upon the gloriously shining figure framed against the coming dawn. I fly for you! Together, we will make many large, strong eggs!

If Garganth's racket hadn't woken M'lus by now (it had), his dragon's surging emotions certainly would have. The broad-shouldered rider rubbed at his face, shaking the last, clinging cobwebs of sleep from his head before rising. He silently sent Garganth waves of support and encouragement, and smiling faintly to himself when he received the bronze's excitement in turn. If things got ugly.... well. Garganth was a big boy--and he could certainly take a beating. M'lus hoped it wouldn't come to that... but he knew that Garganth wouldn't be dissuaded.

He headed outside of his small dwelling, silently intending to find where Vosin was.
