Ohhhh I wanna join the family!
Entry For Pup #: 1
Name of Pup: Melting Point
Username: medigel
Personality: Melting Point is giant like his mother, and that’s about the most comparison that can be drawn. This is a wolf that knows he’s large and wants to be in charge one day. Yes he’ll do good or whatever,but what Melting Point wants is the attention. The adoration. The fans following him on his quest to be awesome. If a few of the weaker wolves get pushed aside while doing so, well, clearly they weren’t meant to be in the spotlight like him!
In a way, Melting Point is a suitable name. He tries to keep cool, but more often than not his short temper gets triggered. He’s something of a bully, but he’s not mean-spirited so much as he is completely arrogant. He knows what to do, don’t question it! Yes, even if it looks like he doesn’t!
Melting Point yearns to prove himself. The problem is that he doesn’t think he should hold himself back just to be “polite” or “kind”. He only respects strength and those willing to back their words up, making him brave but headstrong to a fault. He loves Permafrost, but he’ll also take advantage of her gentle nature if it suits him. He admires Frost Shatter, but he also wants to be alpha one day and knows that means fighting for it. And he loves his seer sister, but he’s jealous of her power.
What’s a guy to do with all that but claw his way forward and make a name for himself as loudly as possible?
Any plots in mind?:
- While not exactly a troublemaker, Melting Point can be a touchy subject among the other family members if he gets too full of himself. The older he gets, the more serious he’ll become about challenging for rank: first most likely for beta just to start accruing notoriety, then eventually aiming for the alpha position when he gets enough movement behind him. (And he’s so very sure there will be support)
- MP decides that he’s gonna be border patrol and one day turns a stranger away from the pack for one reason or another: they look sickly, they’re just a beggar with nothing to contribute, etc. Reprimands come for his actions either way.
- Unsure how viable this is, but if he can he’d love to make a sort of fighting competition for the pack to bond over and laud his praises when he wins. Yanno, tournament arc, but for wolves! Also a means of keeping everyone physically up to speed and have some friendly competition.
- MP picks the wrong fight - maybe with a vicious stranger, maybe with someone in a pack that doesn’t take kindly to being bothered or who wasn’t aware there was even a pack to look at in the area. Suddenly Hornfels Hollow is on the radar...And Melting Point has to face the fact that he’s actually not the best thing since day and night were invented.
- Honestly the yearlong tradition leaves him wide open to both drama as above (especially regarding stumbling across not so friendly packs with unforeseen consequences that follow him home) or maybe at last open his horizons a little by meeting more non family wolves. It’d be hilarious if he found his mate along the way and brought them back, especially if they support his bid for power. Alternatively he gets a couple of friends minions that become members of the pack when he returns with them in tow.

Entry For Pup #: 2
Name of Pup: Whispered Dusk
Username: Silent~Wolf~Demon
Personality: Dusk looks up to her father and wants to be as great and loved as him someday, but she doesn’t want to be alpha. As she grows and matures, she wants to be amidst all of the action, out with a hunting party or pair, scouting the border, being a caretaker for the vulnerable pregnant females and pups, and being the protector. In a way, she wants to be able to do it all when she is full grown. Dusk wants to be able to inspire the pack as an adult and let them know that, in the absence of their alpha and beta, she can be a leader if needed; if only to make her father proud. She is a strong, kind, intelligent, and determined wolf to be anything and everything she puts her mind to.
Any plots in mind?:
On her yearling journey, she will come face to face with a difficult decision that will put her morals to the test and challenge her to be true with herself. She will learn to be independent and how to survive on her own, as well as possibly finding a first love, and who knows how that will go. That bridge will be crossed when Dusk comes upon it. She’ll meet many new wolves and packs, and she really wants to learn about Seers and their powers to better understand her sister and how Seers came to be. She’ll seek out the pack with the most Seers to hopefully be welcomed and allowed to ask questions, so she can keep a mental journal of all of the information.
She wants to establish a good connection with another pack to work closely with to keep each other healthy and Strong . This is an idea she will bring to her father, and based on his reaction to her idea, she will be the one to organize a small party to seek out another pack that has the same ideal to be like sister packs and help each other in times of need, or if it is shut down, she will seek out notable and honorable wolves approved by the alpha and beta to join the pack. This journey her father and the beta will choose where she is to venture to and any other parameters they see fit to set.

Did Someone Say Duo's?
Boy 1 Name: Boulder
Boy 1 Owner: Nymphiea
Boy 2 Name: Invisible Shade
Boy 2 Owner: Ruler of Everything
How did these fellas meet?:
They have been friends as children. Born within a mile of one another, their parents were close friends since their own puphood. It seemed only natural for their families to expect them to bond, too, and they did.
Boulder was born as a large pup with great promise within a little of four. Three girls, and one boy. His father was a massive wolf and his mother was of fair size. His healthy stature as an infant swore of good things. His parents named him for his size. He would, in their eyes, become a strong and powerful wolf. While shy as a puppy, they didn’t care. He’d be strong -- that was all that mattered.
Invisible Shade was born a curious and friendly puppy in a small litter of two, and intrinsic in him was a love of using his dark pelt to sneak up on others in the dead of night — eventually, a trait that would suit him well in hunting.
Unfortunately, Boulder wasn’t what they wanted. He grew into a frail and small wolf. While the two were sent to play with one another previously, those meetings began to dwindle. His parents were ashamed. Ultimately, he stopped visiting Invisible Shade entirely. Concerned for his friend, Shade chose a warm summer day to rush to his friend’s home in search of him.
He came upon the moment Boulder’s parents threw him out. Tossed quite literally out of the den, Boulder was shunned from the family. They’d try again, they said, and maybe they’d have a proper son. Boulder had nowhere to go, so Shade readily brought his friend to his own family. Shade’s parents — who were quite sweeter than Boulder’s own unfortunate parents — offered to finish raising the small teen and welcome him into their family.
Boulder declined. Self-esteem shot, he didn’t wish to put such burden on them. The very night the offer was made he slipped from the den they offered to share with him. His intent was clear; he was leaving. Shade, however, had expected Boulder to pull such a move and caught up with his friend. An argument ensued, but ultimately Shade won (as he is wont to do for all arguments they have). The teenagers would travel together, and perhaps return one day to check in on Shade’s parents.
Their journey began, and honestly? The two have been inseparable since.
What kind of relationship do they have?:
The relationship between these two is a deep friendship — one that rises above familial bonds. They are each other’s protector, each other’s confidant. It may not be understood in totality from the outside, but the two of them are irrevocably inseparable.
Down the line, it is unclear how the two wolves will proceed. Although there was a bit of gossip between their individual siblings about the exact nature of their relationship. Some thought they seemed a little too close to be just friends, which neither Boulder nor Invisible Shade would outright deny. It is a fact of life that Boulder in particular wants puppies — as many as he can possibly manage — possibly in an effort to make up for his own wracked family life, and to provide a better one for those he loves. Quite simply, he could not produce those puppies with Shade, but that certainly doesn’t mean the two of them will swear off a relationship. Only time will tell exactly where their relationship goes, but it is clear that the two share a profound love for one another.
Why do they want to join Hornfels?:
They have been traveling for awhile, now. Long enough for small legs to grow a bit longer in length and hearts to fully grow. Perhaps, along the way, glances have been exchanged for a second too long. One of them might brush against the other just to feel the comfort of their warmth. It’s becoming… odd, really, as these two childhood friends lack a home to fully step back and evaluate the reason their breath flutters when the other is too close.
Traveling will, after all, drain a soul.
And then they heard of the Hornfels. Boulder immediately was interested. He lacked a family. Sure, Shade’s parents had offered him a home, but they weren’t there, were they? No, he wanted to belong somewhere, and the familial approach of the Hornfels struck a note with him. Shade has always seen his home as wherever Boulder was, so it was easy enough to sway his interest.
A home. A family. A chance to settle their paws finally and really…. be together. A chance to belong somewhere, too. It seemed only right. Besides, they’ve already proven they can survive on their own (as the pack has shown interest in chasing yearlings off during their first spring to test their strength). They’ve had their own trials. They’re ready, now. Ready to settle down, become members of a loving community, and perhaps explore that strange feeling in their hearts when they lock eyes.

Did Someone Say Duo's?
Boy 1 Name: Keep
Boy 1 Owner: Ars Naberius
Boy 2 Name: Peek
Boy 2 Owner: Kyrieko
How did these fellas meet?: Keep was rearing to get out in the big old world and make it on his own. He was done being raised by his caring - yet so smothering - parents. He was old enough to do things on his own! So, he set out to show them how awesome he could be. While he's not quite sure when the black shadow began following him, Keep discovered him before a full moon cycle had passed. The other wolf was so black and needy of Keep that he had the brilliant realization that 'Peek' was his shadow and that was why he was following him and so dependent on what Keep did or where he went. The black wolf just sort of went along with it as he wasn't sure what was the norm for this type of situation. He'd been on his own since puphood, being so dark in color that his own mother lost him. Never quite figuring out how to be social (or speak much for that matter), Peek just assumed that Keep was correct and he was, somehow, his shadow.
What kind of relationship do they have?:
Keep believes, with every fiber of his being, that Peek is his shadow. They have a very unhealthy addiction to each other because of it. Keep, because it's his shadow and shadows are supposed to always be attached to you! He even named the black wolf after himself, but a 'shadowed' (reflected) version of his name! Peek, because he doesn't know how to wolf properly and Keep is the only friend that ever bothered to try and teach him and he doesn't know what he'd do if he were separated from Keep and why are you asking him such difficult questions?! The two wolves are almost inseparable and have an odd, almost mysterious, way of moving together and always seeming to know where the other is in relation to space. If Keep puts his right paw down, it's a sure bet that Peek will do the same.
Why do they want to join Hornfels?: Keep, to be frank, is a terrible hunter. The pair was struggling to find food and the only reason they have survived this long was the times that Peek was able to leave Keep's side and bring back small prey. But only when it was nearby and at night. Because shadows don't leave their other halves during the day! The two wolves happened across the scents of others. Keep almost turned them around swiftly, but they happened across the remains of a recent pack kill (the bits that weren't worth saving). Bellies aching, they agreed to see what this pack life was like and if their meals were always so scrumptious.

Did Someone Say Duo's?
Boy 1 Name: Shifting Scales
Boy 1 Owner: belloblossom
Boy 2 Name: Shadow Ash
Boy 2 Owner: Cisato Mikami
How did these fellas meet?:
Shifting Scales came from a “naturalist” sort of family. Anything different was to be shunned. No dyes, no accessories from found things, etc. Unfortunately, Scales had realized a while ago that he himself might be different. So, one day when he was out hunting for food, he came across a found thing on his own (an abandoned necklace probably) and in his giddy excitement he took it back to show his family. His father scorned the necklace and reaffirmed that anything different was to be thrown away with and when Scales tried to argue, he was “thrown away” too. His pack turned their backs on his different attitude. At first, Scales was hurt, but then he became determined. He was determined to survive on his own and be as different as he could and wanted to be! It was in his travels to other lands that he started experimenting with the wonders of dyes. It was also where he met Ash, the very definition of a lone wolf. Their personalities drew them together and soon enough they found more family in one another than they had seen in a long time.
Ash had a family, not really a pack. He had a mate and a couple of newly born pups. One day, he went out to bring food for them when he got ambushed by another pack of wolves. They fought for a bit until he was beaten and left for dead. When he awoke, he went looking for his family and saw that the pack had gotten to them and they were no longer a part of his world. After months of wondering, he met Shifting Scales and decided to stick with him for the mot part. After a while, they grew close, like brothers.
What kind of relationship do they have?:
They are very much like brothers. They have each other's backs no matter how hard or bad the situation is.
Why do they want to join Hornfels?:
After a long journey alone, they decided it would be time to find a home. Since Scales was kicked from his home and Ash essentially lost his family, they decided that it would be best to start off fresh in a new pack.

Pupper, oh my!
Name of Pup: Below Zero
Username: Nymphiea
Personality: Quieter and often mistaken as cold, he doesn't tend to talk much and spends most of his time alone. He loves his family, and dearly, but Below Zero is often lost in thought. It's not uncommon to find him staring out into the world beyond and snapping back to reality with a jolt when spoken to. Below Zero isn't the best at communicating, often only answering half of a question, although it isn't on purpose. As he gets older he'll begin to catch himself, but often insert the rest of the answer after the fact.
Below Zero is disabled as an adult, and it weighs heavily on him. He accepts who he is, but he always wanted to explore. His leg won't take him far without a rest and he's frustrated by his own limitations. It hides under the surface, festering in his silence. He doesn't talk about it much and often will deny any negative feelings associated with his leg. He probably would only open up to a close sibling or a future mate, should he ever get one.
He's a caring male, often reaching out to comfort those around him even if he does it awkwardly. That's just who he is -- awkward. While he's lost in his own thoughts or dreaming of a world beyond, he does notice pain in others and tries to help.
He will never leave the pack; he doesn't want to. He just wants to see what else there is and then return home. This may lead him on a brief adventure, or he may always be grounded. There's a suspicion he'll never be happy, though, if he doesn't get past his fears and actually explore the world.
Lastly, Below Zero is very superstitious. No one is sure where he got it from, and he always vaguely answers the question. Something happened during the time he was sent out of the pack during his first Spring, but unfortunately due to his own absent nature he hasn't fully explained what. All the pack knows is you better not step on a crack or anything similar!
Any plots in mind?:
- Injury: During the traditional chasing out of the yearlings, Below Zero ends up tumbling down a cliff side. While he survives, his leg in severely injured. Not wanting to fail the test and disappoint his family, he doesn't return home for medical help. His leg heals incorrectly, resulting in a permanent limp.
- Dream of Beyond: He wants to explore past the pack, although he doesn't know of a good excuse to tell the Alpha as to why. He just... wants to. He'll pine for awhile for the world outside and eventually ask his Alpha if he can journey to quell that feeling.
- Love Outside: He will be tempted a few times to never return home. A fling will result in children dumped on him by the time they no longer wean, and his heart will hurt during this time. While he'll always claim he knew she'd never stick around, it isn't true -- he was deceived by the strangers promise to love him and in his naivety he believed her immediately. The puppies were never a punishment in his eyes, though. He'll be an awkward father, sure, but he'll love them completely. After this period, or maybe during, he'll meet a sweeter female who genuinely loves him. He'll avoid her affections for awhile before finally trusting her.
- Return: He will return home with his mate and any child he had from his previous fling who wish to join his pack. Tired and worn, he'll be satisfied with his previous journey and learn his home was what he always needed in the first place.
- Children, again?!: Eventually he'll have a litter with his mate. I do hope to have his future kid display his adventurous side and get into their own trouble. His story won't end, but I'm leaving it open to develop past this point!

Pupper, oh my!
Name of Pup: Frozen Ground
Username: RozeyBear
Personality: Level headed and quite serious even as a pup, Frozen Ground is quite the handful. He has his moments in which he flips between serious and playful, but no matter what mood he's in, he's always caring. He wants nothing more than to help his pack grow and thrive.
He's a bit awkward around females that aren't part of his family. He stumbles over his words and sometimes forgets entire sentences, paragraphs even.
Sharp witted and calculating, he'll eventually be a well versed strategist.
Any plots in mind?:
Coming of Age : Frozen will have a hard time figuring out what he can do to contribute to the growth of the pack. He won't know what to choose for his job and the first may be a failure. He'll be upset and convinced he can't do anything right. I'd like him to meet someone with either the same dilemma or someone who has "been there and done that". Basically, he'll just need someone to make him realize sometimes our talents take time to reveal themselves.
I Dream Of The Wilds : Like any young adult, Frozen's curious nature will get the better of him. He'll want to venture out into the world but he'll be unsure. I want him to have someone to talk to here, too. Perhaps someone his age that feels the same. They could lean on one another and ask their Alpha to travel together.
Adventures of a Lifetime! : Some times these don't go like we picture. Frozen and his friend, if they're still with him at this point, will be heading home. Wanderlust sated, he'll be happy and have a firmer grasp of who he is. He'll run into a rogue, one that is not so nice and almost lose his left eye.
Finally Home : After the attack, he'll make it back home with fresh scars and a new outlook on life. He will have set his mind to becoming a Beta and do everything he can to achieve his goal.
