Day after day, she'd tracked the skies as siblings, cousins, and strangers launched themselves into the sky, answering the siren song that sang through her own veins even now. It had never been quite the right time, and so she'd brooded, sulked, and snapped even as her hide began to gleam. She and Iathe emerged triumphantly from their first blooding as she knew they would.... and now, now that things had settled and wounds had mended, Skerath could resist no more.

The sun finally dipped down, its light beginning to fade from the sky, when she launched herself into the air. The messy remains of a poor wherry lay scattered in every possible direction, and blood still streamed from her talons and jaws as she beat her wings hard before she screamed a challenge to the quickly coming night. Come if you dare! I have waited long enough!

Iathe nearly stumbled in the dining hall at the intensity of the emotions raging through her beloved, feeling panic seize her by the throat--

No more hiding! The words were a private snarl, edged with a harshness that the green never used with her rider. We did not shy away from the true fight, and we will not cower now!

Baring her own teeth unconsciously, the blonde woman managed to make her way outside, blind to everything but the small, glowing green that was Skerath as she clawed her way higher and higher. Her hands clenched slowly into fists, feeling her nails bite into her palms. No more hiding. So be it.

About Skerath
A small green who with a reputation for being mercurial and snappy on good days, and downright vicious on her bad ones. She is a fearless fighter, unafraid to take risks and clever enough to handle herself in even the worst of situations. Secretly a lonely creature, but would never, ever admit it. Prepare to bleed if you choose to pursue.

About Iathe
Hardworking, blunt, and honest, Iathe has been dreading this day. She is a prude by Weyr standards, and though debated locking herself away for Skerath's flight, has decided to face her fears head on. She's available for this flight, but may be as rough as her dragon.

Rules
-There will be 3 rounds of rolling, and then Skerath will choose a winner. This may be through dice rolling or someone who captures her attention via RP!
-The first round will begin at about 7 PM CST on Sunday 10/13, and each round will last approximately 48 hours (or sooner if everyone has posted).
-If you roll for your entry for the round, but don't fill your post, your points for that round will be halved.
-Please keep track of your own score and be honest! The rolling and scores are mostly flavor.
-Suitors may attack each other if they so wish! I will supply the dice mechanics with my posts
-This Flight is open to High Reaches residents only!
    -NPCs are fine!

    Base points for blue: 45pts
    Base points for green: 50pts

If the derg is:
    - Less than 5 turns: +3 points
    - Between 6-35 turns: +10 points
    - Above 36 turns: +5 points

    - Rotund/Lazy: +0 points

To get your HP, use your Threadfall HP which is determined by your dragon's adult size!

FIGHTING!!!

- Declare your target (they must have posted a filled out post in the previous round!) and Roll 2d12. You can attack *anybody* regardless of score. Anybody!
- Subtract the 1st dice from the 2nd dice. This is how much damage you afflict on your target!
-----> You roll a 5,8. 8 - 5 = 3 damage!
-----> You roll a 8, 5. 5 - 8 = -3 (you missed!)
-Your rolled score is a base of 10 + however much damage you inflict BEFORE MODIFIERS.
-----> 3 Damage is 10 + 3 = 13 for your score!
-----> - 3 Damage is 10 - 3 = 7 for your score!
- MODIFIERS, MODIFIERS, MODIFIERS!!
--> Because of the HUGE HEALTH GAP between a smaller dragon and a larger one, there are 2 modifiers!
-----> If you attack a dragon LESS than 7' SMALLER than you, you take -2 from your second dice (so you do 2 less damage)
-----> If you attack a dragon MORE than 7' LARGER than you, you add +2 to your second dice (so you do 2 MORE damage)
-Make sure you quote your target so they know they took damage!
------> If you have questions, ask me please!

I stole this format from the lovely Pach with permission. <3

User ImageIt didn't take a genius to see that everyone around here was an idiot. They kept telling him things would get easier with time, but the ache in his hearts grew sharper each day. Things would never be easy. He had realized that shortly after he had hatched. But surely they weren't meant to be this hard.

Ingonth's narrow head rose from his ledge in response to his cousin's mental cry. He respected Skerath for being second only to himself at fighting Thread, but all of that respect was countered by her tolerance, even love, for Cadereth, of all dragons. That the bronze continued to draw breath while others were cold and...

Enough.

Hm?

Ingonth rolled to his feet and stretched his wings. I'm going to chase Skerath. Don't... wait up. Okay. He was never saying that again.

You are? You are. All right. T'rin swept his doubt as far beneath the rug as he could get it, vowing to truly discuss what was going on when Ingonth returned. For now, he would be a pillar of support. Granite. One hundred percent. Even though he was almost certain that his dragon didn't fancy greens. He cleared his throat unnecessarily. Is it your intention that I pursue Iathe?

If you want. The blue let out a furious roar and took off like a shot.

She's likely to tear one of my arms off for even suggesting such a thing.

Make sure it's the one with the missing fingers.

Ingonth was quick to find the green, her bloodied form lit by the setting suns. His eyes were more red than purple, and as he spread his wings and slowed before her, he let out a mirthless chuckle.

First.

Quote:
ingonth is currently a very angry young blue.
t'rin is beginning to realize that he should probably do something about that.

Skerath's challenge would not go unanswered.

The large brown had been preening upon his ledge, but watched with great interest when Skerath took down a wherry and cried challenge to the Weyr. The brown dragon had been ready to spread his wings and test his performance for some time, Zyamel knew, but he had refrained. Greens of all sorts had taken wing, and though the brown would watch with keen interest, or pace with pent up desire, the beast had kept his wings tucked and remained firmly on the ground.

Tonight, it seemed, Venandith was ready to make his big debut.

While Zyamel had understood dragonlust -- what weyrbrat didn't? -- she hadn't truly understood the absolute force that would all but bring her to her knees. One minute she'd been chattering with a few friends in the corner of the dining Hall, and the next she found Venandith's desire and lust overwhelming their link.

Ven!

It took just a breath for her to make the connection. The brown didn't speak--merely thought of Skerath--and that was enough to get Zyamel out of her chair. She hardly had time to explain, and with a confessed "Greenflight," she was off. No need to make things awkward with her lingering, especially with how she was currently feeling. Leaving the dining hall, she tried hard to keep a tight grip on herself. Faranth, help her, but residuals of a gold flight had nothing on this.

She could already feel herself slipping more and more into Venandith's desires.

Exiting the Dining Hall, the brown rider hesitated for just a moment. Instinct said to seek out someone with dark hair, an intense gaze, and a bad habit of overworking herself. Wouldn't a flight be just the thing Martirae might need? All work and no play was no way to live, after all... And yet there was Iathe. Did she seek her out instead to see how the flight might go? She did not wish to abandon her friend in her time of need.... and yet... Surely, the blonde would have no lack of suitors.

So it was, Zyamel changed direction and decided to seek out another. A risk, perhaps--but if she got turned down, on her head be it. She would take her chances with Marti first, and come up with a different plan if that didn't pan out. Thankfully, the Weyr never seemed unwilling when it came to flights, after all.

Navigating the tunnels as best she could, the dark-haired woman knew exactly which weyr to go to. Thankfully, she didn't need a dragon to get there, and could only hope she might not be turned away. This was one weyr she knew how to get to with little trouble, and could only be grateful she didn't have to traverse too many stairwells.

So she knocked on the familiar door, fighting to keep control of her senses, but well certain it was a battle she would eventually lose.

Don't get chewed up too badly, Ven. She'll throw you from the sky. She managed to warn. Not, of course, that she worried over Skerath or the green's ferocity. Venandith did love to show off his scars and a few more would go nicely with his collection--but she had to wonder if it wouldn't sour Skerath's mood all the more to have Venandith present.

Let her tear me limb from limb--only a fool would resist her call. With a loud bellow, the brown threw himself from his ledge. His eyes whirled a rich purple, though red danced through the facets, but they never turned away from her. Fierce, magnificent, beautiful Skerath! I would have waited a hundred more Turns to fly with you this night. You certainly deserve nothing but the best--and so, I am here. Leave it to Venandith to always be himself.

Still, the brown ignored Ignonth, though he was peripherally away of the blue, and any other potential rival. He would spare them a look if he lost the triumph of the night. He was here, and he was ready to chase Skerath in all her ferocious glory.

Darkness might have been settling over the Weyr but Venandith was not afraid.

Another? H'aal barely looked up from his readings when Litanuth stirred, eyes sharp on the newly rising green in the sky. The blue had been showing particular interest in High Reaches most recent clutch, but the man had expected him to dote upon Yulaniath a while longer. But the mere thought had the blue huffing. She chose to chase another. I am no more bound to her than she is to me, he reminded. Why should he have been pinned by a young green who didn't wish to be pinned down? Alright, alright. Good luck - she looks fierce.

She was born fierce, Litanuth reminded, spreading his large wings and with very little effort taking to the sky. While perhaps a dragon his age should have scoffed at how many children there were in it, daring to whet their appetites on a maiden green, the blue barely acknowledged them. He'd come for Skerath, after all. He had better things to offer than age and experience.

There is only one thing in this sky worth seeing tonight, worth bleeding for. There was no sweet, seductive tone in his mental voice, but the want twisted through them like a serpent under the surface of water. There was no mistake that Skerath had all of his attention.

Skerath is rising, Anakumath informed Martirae privately, sitting a little straighter up on her ledge to watch intently while she still could. No doubt her sister would take all of her suitors on a chase that led far out of view. Martirae did not fault her the curiosity in it all - it could have been some time before it was their turn, after all. Venandith is chasing, she added, looking at the familiar brown thoughtfully. It seemed like the young gold was simply thankful that she couldn't spot another familiar hide amongst her sister's suitors.

Is he now? Marty looked up from her reading towards the gold on her ledge, again consumed with how much she could love another living creature. Pern had lacked such perfection before her. Do you think His will pursue Skerath's? A small frown graced the woman's lips at the question. Was that any of her business? Perhaps she will, she answered, barely looking down to her reading when knocking came. For a long moment, she looked at her door.

Then, she moved to answer it, passing a look towards Anakumath. Had they been expecting a guest at all? If they had, it wasn't the woman on the other side of the door. "Zyamel?" Marty was almost surprised to see that Iathe had not been her first thought. After all, Zyamel did know how to treat a lady. But, there was no doubt as to why she was there, not with Venandith eager to catch. She was almost flattered. "Better come in before it becomes a room party," not that Martirae would have allowed extra and especially unwanted company.

Samodith had been watching with some interest as more of her sisters and cousins began to glow and rise.  She did not concern herself with comparisons to her own Flight, but there was nonetheless a deep curiosity about who was next and who would chase, especially as they all grew old enough to care for such pursuits.  Already she could feel a restlessness growing again, but it was not time.  Not yet.  So in the meantime, she watched, sometimes from the ledge she shared with Andelath, sometimes from elsewhere, and made her observations.

But when Skerath screamed out her intentions to the coming night, it was different.  Her interest was immediate, and far more than idle.  No, her fierce clutchmate had her true interest and attention, enough to draw her from her perch with an answering call for her fellow green, and eyes that flashed red and violet.

These boys haven't the faintest idea what they're getting into, let alone what they are about, she observed with a sly ripple of laughter.  Perhaps they were earnest, perhaps not, but regardless, they were surely not good enough - after all, who could be better than her? Which shall be the first to have their hide painted green?  Though they will not, I wager, wear it so well as we do.

Samodith: Full of natural charms and confidence, and skilled at drawing the eye with little to no effort, Samodith is quite the friend to have, so long as she is in a good mood.  If wronged, or even simply in a foul temper, she can be cruel, and is not always direct in her approach when making her ire felt.

Of all the dragons that could possibly choose to pursue her this night, she never would have expected Ingonth to show himself. She studied him, her overly long fangs bared slightly as the blue flew closer. Of all those who mourned Aviforth, it was he that might understand even an inkling of her pain. Perhaps he had merely come to tear himself open on her claws--and hope to tear her open, in turn. She rather thought she'd like to see him try. First. She growled in reply. We'll see if that lasts.

The dark, near black facets of her eyes swirled even more quickly as a familiar brown shape launched himself towards her, fury and pleasure pumping through her veins in equal measure. How dare he think himself worthy of her time? And yet, if he hadn't shown... Skerath deliberately left the thought unfinished, beating her wings hard to keep well above her potential suitors. Thread nearly broke you. She taunted Venandith, easily twisting herself higher and higher. That means I certainly will.

Her head twisted sharply to evaluate the newcomer, and Skerath found her talons flexing. She was worthy of bleeding them all, and she intended to leave her mark one way or another. Lianuth would receive a mental wash of her ire, biting and skeptical. Words meant little, but at least he hadn't tried to sweeten them.

Samodith was an unexpected contender, the heat of her rage temporarily cooling as she admired her sister's sleek form. But tonight was not about Samodith, no matter how beautiful she was, and Skerath would not spare her any of her more violent intentions. And will you teach them, sister? I think I could teach you a few things, too. Purple pulsed violently in her eyes, temporarily overwhelming the red before the two shades mixed once more into a dark, murky hue.

Finished with speaking, the green beat her wings hard and began to climb, relying on her small frame and speed as she darted up into the sky. Let them follow--and then she could pick them off one by one.

And up we go! Roll Strength + Speed! The next round will be rolled Wednesday around 7 PM CST!

Venandith hardly noticed when Samodith arrived, or the blue--the fact that there were only a handful was both pleasing and insulting. On the one hand, less competition for him, but on the other, he would have expected more to rise to the challenge. Perhaps they were simply too afraid. Regardless, the brown dragon's eyes whirled a deeper shade of purple as Skerath taunted him.

Wherever you fly, I shall follow. And if you tear me to pieces, then I shall relish every moment. He countered with his usual arrogance, not at all phased or intimidated by threat of being broken down by the green. In fact, there was a hint of predatory delight within his words. He never shied away from a fight, and Skerath was no different. He was a hunter, after all, and he had no intention of letting Skerath get away.

As the green rose, so Venandith followed--though he was at a keen disadvantage. His strength and size was now a problem. To say his start was slow was a bit of an understatement, even for him... but Venandith was certain he'd make up for it. She wasn't ready to be caught yet, after all-- and would need time to wear down. No, he wasn't worried. There was still yet time.
- - -

Zyamel continued to fight against the dragonlust as she waited. For one long moment, she wondered if Martirae was even in--but then the door opened, and there she was. The dark-haired brownrider couldn't help but grin in her usual arrogant way--though Venandith's confidence was only enabling her own.

"I'd apologize for interrupting, but I'd rather not be dubbed a liar," she mused, even as Martirae allowed her in. Now that she was here, part of her wondered what all she was supposed to say. She could already feel her talons itching to catch, could already feel Venandith's will overpowering her own. Still, she wasn't going to be a beast, and clamped down on the passion that was bubbling up beneath the surface.

"I know you'd probably rather be wrapped up in your studies and drills--but I thought maybe a little fun wouldn't be amiss?" A distraction, perhaps? Martirae already knew how fun Zyamel could be, but shardit, this whole flight business was spiraling fast out of control. "Ven's chasing so you must know why I'm here. He might not get who he wants, but I thought maybe I could." No sense beating around the bush. Still, she was no dragon, and it would be Martirae's choice. She'd made hers, now it depended fully on the other.

It would be my pleasure to do so,, Samodith replied, flexing her own talons, But I daresay there would be even more in taking your instruction. The words were as sharp as they were playful, no idle boast or fancy - if it was her hide Skerath opened, she would have no complaints.  There was no hesitation as she took off like a shot after the smaller green.  If that put her first in line for a blooding, then so be it!  Thread so far had not been a match for her, so perhaps it would be her sister who gave her her first scars.

She spared a fleeting glance back at the assembled males, but today there was nothing admiring or flirtatious in the look.  She considered, briefly, taking a strip from one, but not yet.  First blood, by all rights, belonged to Skerath: it was Skerath's show, after all, and Samodith was not here to steal it.  Just her.

Ingonth put on a burst of speed when Skerath did, but his was backed by far less power. It would do him no good to run out of stamina before the end. Yes. This was the intelligent thing to do. He wasn't hesitating. He wasn't stalling. He was just being prudent.

Flashes of deep brown and pale green caught at the corners of his crimson eyes and Ingonth couldn't help it when they narrowed with spite. His idiotic clutchmates were probably babbling about how tough they were or trying to be poetic, only with copious mentions of ichor. At least there was no doubt that unsubtle brute meant business, though it seemed far too early for it.

Ingonth hissed into the wind, banking higher even though he was behind. He would show them what it meant to be a proper suitor, even if he didn't really feel like one.

ATTACKING SKERATH!

Hmm.

Don't.

Litanuth brushed off H'aal's warning easily, all but ignoring the flowered words of seduction from all these younglings as he kept his attention sharply on Skerath - who seemed to not have much of an eye for him yet. Ah, he was the stranger amongst all of them, wasn't he? That wouldn't do at all.

So be it, while others may have rose up to follow after in promise to let her claw them willingly, Litanuth wasn't looking to be a pincushion. No, while he may have followed closely, and without much guard, it wasn't to promise honeyed words.

It was to lash out, swiping claws against already marked flesh. Enough to bleed a little. Enough to sting. There is only one to fight for you, Still not sweetened, but ever wanting. He would not fight others he didn't care for to have her. Skerath alone was a challenger worth having.

H'aal could have almost rolled his eyes out of his head, tossing the parchment he'd been reading to one side as he rose from his chair to leave his weyr. If Litanuth was going to put in the good effort....he saw no reason why he should leave Skerath's rider to her own devices.

Why shouldn't she be offered a man amongst any others who may have decided to pursue?

"Making sure I'm in my best shape," Marty corrected Zyamel - though the brownrider hadn't been far off in her assessment. Records and drills were how she made sure of that. That sleeplessness only lead to an unclear head was the only reason she didn't subscribe to 'I'll sleep when I'm dead' logic now. But she was still a lot more work and a lot less play still. She and Anakumath could and would work themselves to the bone if given half a chance.

Which was part of what made an unexpected visit so nice. A convenient excuse. "I don't imagine he won't sweep Skerath right off her wings," Marty mused, though there was still the question of why the woman had come to her rather than Iathe. So available, so ready for the taking, surely. Is that what you'd prefer? Anakumath inquired, but Martirae dismissed the question. Instead, she brushed a hand under Zyamel's chin.

"I could use a break from reading."

She assessed her suitors with a keen eye, and there was pleasure in seeing how quickly she left some of them behind. Perhaps when I double back, you'll be close enough. She sneered at Venandith, but she doubted she'd do much to rattle his confidence. He was insufferably sure of himself no matter what barbs she tried to p***k him with.

Samodith blazed past her, all speed and cunning. She reflexively snapped at her sister's elegant tail as she passed, feeling fury threaten to bubble up as she was overtaken. So much for being pleased with herself--but if she managed to mar that beautiful hide, Skerath considered it to be a fair trade. I'll make it educational. She promised, and if she had her way, it was one she intended to keep.

Her blue cousin seemed to be biding his energy for now, and she focused on Ingonth briefly before--

The stranger lashed out at her, catching her hard enough in the shoulder to send her ichor streaming into the wind. The green bellowed, thrilling in the sharp sting of pain even as she whirled upon Litanuth with mingled outrage and sharp, savage satisfaction that he'd had the gall. She struck him hard with tooth and claw, not hesitating to now give him her full attention. Prove it. She snarled, daring him to rip her from the skies.

Here come the claws and teeth! Roll Wits to see if you avoid Skerath's attack! If you roll below a 7, the difference is how much damage you take! Above a 7 is a clean miss! In this case, Litanuth will take the full 7 damage because he's right there and she has Thoughts about his actions!

The next round will be rolled Sunday around 7 PM CST!

Venandith's eyes went red when he saw some blue actually attacked Skerath, and he hissed in pure, unadulterated rage. While he knew she was all barbs and teeth, anger, and ferocity, he had never thought she would appreciate another tearing into her so physically. As a clutchmate and cousin, he couldn't help but be enraged at such a display! It was one thing for her to bite and tear, but it was something else entirely to have another dare such an impertinent gesture.

With a snarl of objection, Venandith no longer had eyes only for Skerath. He didn't know this stranger besides a vague recollection that he'd seen him chase his own sister. So to be here now, and to treat the green in such a fashion...

That didn't seem right to him.

Perhaps it was his youth. Perhaps it was his ignorance. Perhaps it was Fianth's blood that poured through his veins. While he had no issue in scarring up or battling an opponent, as Krahsujunth might, he cold not help but object to Skerath's treatment. Perhaps he was a fool, but he would not tolerate it. Is this how he would have treated Yulaniath? Is this how he would treat other greens?

Presently, Venandith had nothing more to say. Even as Skerath turned upon them, the brown didn't attempt to swerve away or stop her. Though she bit and clawed and raked his flesh, he didn't flinch--nor did he attempt to catch. What was a bit of ichor? Instead, all he hoped was to make up his lost ground and to make the blue play for drawing first blood. That very well should have been Skerath's right.

Maybe Skerath would like it and maybe it's what she wanted. But Ven wouldn't and couldn't stand to see it happen in front of him.

No, it was time to mess up that blue's day.

"Shells, but you're irresistible," she half-laughed, half-snarled with her brown's frustration.

Zyamel found it more and more difficult to focus. She was both in the room and up in the sky. The rage she felt through her link almost had her baring her teeth at some unseen opponent, and she instinctively pulled Martirae into her arms protectively. Venandith might not be able to keep Skerath from being attacked, but the dark-haired woman cold ensure her current companion was safe.

...

Well. Safe from any harm. Safe from dragonlust was something else entirely.

Too late she remembered herself, and though her grip loosened, she did not let her go. "Books can wait," she agreed--but she wasn't sure she could. Not with Martirae so close. Not with Venandith up in skies. It was entirely possible Venandith's claws would wind up empty this night--but not hers.

I very much expect that you will, she replied with a bubble of coy laughter, allowing her sister's teeth to just barely scrape her tail before she flicked it away. But she was a chaser here, not chased, and it would not do to be too far ahead of her quarry - especially with such a show now unfolding! Samodith seethed and hissed at the gall of the blue who was not only first to attack, but to attack Skerath herself. There was no rush to her defense, however, as she knew Skerath more than capable of that on her own; Litanuth was hers to take from the sky, if she wished it. What a pretty plaything has presented itself that you might sharpen your claws. All the better to be ready for the main event.

Perhaps I should do the same...
Perhaps. But if so, which pretty thing would suit best?

ATTACKING SKERATH!

Ah, had he drawn some ire? While he paid little attention - enough to know who was where as to not crash into anybody - the unpleased sounds of at least one other suitor did not go unnoticed or unnoted. Just as Skerath's own fury, claws and teeth sunk into his flesh, would not be shied from.

Will you tear me from the sky in turn or will one of the others rush to your defense? Shall we see who is not afraid of tooth and claw? he asked, twisting to strike at Skerath again as she delivered her retaliation for daring take first blood. There were others to savage, however, and it had not been quick enough before she was out of his reach.

H'aal, on the other hand, had barely given thought of having to patch his lifemate up when the evening was over. It had not taken him long to find Iathe - seemingly unpursued in her own luster which was a shame in and of itself. He was not a swaggering sort of man on the approach, though he did with purpose and perhaps a bit more gentleness than Litanuth possessed. "I should be offended that you've been left waiting," he greeted, offering the young woman one rough hand.

----
NPC BLUE LITANUTH: Intelligent, but dark minded. Prone to enormous bouts of envy once he's decided he wants something and doesn't get it. Can be hard to read at times.
NPC H'AAL: Sharp minded, but has a tendency to be spiteful. Used to be a Sailor and definitely acts it. Only came to the Weyr when Threadfall took out his ship.

Litanuth's Stats:
Blue: +45
Between 6 - 35 Turns: +10
Fit/Motivated: +10
Courageous/Can Handle Pain: +4
Intelligent/Clever: +3
Total: 72

Zyamel was a forward woman, but being pulled into her like that left Martirae wondering who was steering for a moment. Until it was Anakumath's turn, she had to look into the faces of those who were torn between two bodies and wonder how the feelings bled into each other. "Trying to keep me from getting away?" she asked.

"Certainly they can," Marty relented, cupping Zyamel's chin as though the woman would have turned away from the kiss pressed to her lips. They could certainly have some time to themselves for a while, right?
