It had become routine, over the last couple of Turns, for Ryala to rise early, so she could see to Ghost's breakfast before going off to enjoy her own. When she'd Impressed Ignis, the only change to that routine had been to collect two bowls of meat slivers instead of just one, and adjusting to the noise of two flits who each swore that they were wasting away to nothing (though anyone who looked at either would easily see that wasn't the case).
This particular morning, she yawned as she made her way as usual towards the kitchens. A layer of fog softened the landscape, and seemed to shroud some random things until the last moment. But she was used to this.
Or so she thought.
One moment, the world was fine, barring the usual starved complaints of her winged fiends... the next, she was spitting grit out of her mouth. What the... How did a rock that large end up here? she wondered as the boys cried out loudly in alarm, circling overhead. "I'm fine, guys," she reassured them, as she brushed the dirt from her tunic and hair, and pushed herself upright. "I'm... whOAH!" As she tried to stand, a strong pain lanced through her left ankle, and suddenly she was sitting in the misty dust once more.
(ooc- ok, it wasn't stairs, but it works!)

Out of the fog popped a small blue fire lizard, pale as snow in areas and as light as the sky in others, he danced about the strange candidate's head with a tiny trill, making wide circles so that he was well away from her own fire lizards. Maybe out of respect or, as it was becoming more apparent, he was using himself as a signal. For out of that same fog came another form, the far larger and darker evidence of his human who blinked somewhat blearily for a moment at the older Candidate on the floor of the bowl.
"Heard your voice, Lolo was worried." Etansi reached a hand out and the blue fire lizard landed on her arm, keeping an eye on the woman still sitting on the ground. Slowly she squatted down and kept that arm held out so Lolo's little nose could reach out towards the redhead before her. "What hurts?"
From about her neck a darker lizard's head popped out of the dark girl's shirt, eyes red but not making a move. Etansi quickly made a move to slide her other bandaged hand over Etan's face. "Ignore him, he hates being close to anyone else." She spared a moment looking the girl up and down, curious to see where she might be hurt so she could tell how best to get her to a healer. Had she not been so stupidly sick a few months back she'd have been more than okay to just pick her up off the ground and carry her.
