The peaks were glimmering with snow already, and the cold of the day was biting. Not so much as to be uncomfortable, but enough that one had to wear warmer clothing. Things had been going so well lately. Partner after partner to warm her bed, a steadily growing sense of place, and she? Well. She was starting to feel like she FINALLY had her place in life. Zenobiath on the other hand...She'd been a bit snippy lately. Not enough that Alumet was truly concerned, but enough that she'd taken her Gold down and bathed her, oiled her, taking time to make sure the Queen was at least content. She'd just settled down to pour over some records when a specific way the sunlight of the afternoon hit Zenobiath made the Rider realize. Oh. Oh. Honestly, Alumet HADN'T really known what to watch for, and with her almost tawny gold hide? It had been hard to notice at first.

There was, however, no mistaking that glow, or the lazily warm feeling that washed over her when she made over to the massive creature. Reaching up, she gently rubbed along her love's jaw, head canting, I honestly didn't think it would be this soon, love...but look at you. Beautiful, glowing like the sun itself. The pride and lazy lust she felt was something that was familiar, from before her Gold ever got to this point. After all, were the two of them not absolutely beautiful? Were they not stunning examples of a Goldrider pair, and ever so lovely? Ah, you may not have expected, but I had an inkling. We could not have asked for better weather, beloved, and the sky is clear, ready for me. Are you ready for the flood of suitors? That got a laugh from Alumet, her eyes glimmering in delight, "Are you? You're going to have all sorts of colors after your beautiful hide...Though I know you're rather picky about who you'll choose...You make what decision you like."

With a nuzzle to her Rider, Zenobiath took from her ledge, using the wind's currents to lazily trail down, before taking two beasts in her large claws. It was the sudden shock of knowing that how hungry she'd been had been Zenobiath that startled Alumet in to standing right at the weyrledge, looking down, Blood, beloved. Not meat. Only blood. The pair locked wills, both stubborn, both furious. She'd not been prepared for Zeno's instinct, for the raw need...but it worked, after a moment. Watching her dragon from the ledge, she smiled at the blooding, and at familiar feelings that she was all too prepared for. Slipping back to her bed, the Rider sat, ready to wait.

Meanwhile, her Dragon took her blood. One beast, tossed aside, then two. Once the blood stained her muzzle, she bugled loudly, before launching herself with great wings in to the sky. Glimmering hide glowed against the afternoon sun, and as she spread her wings and let the currents guide her, Zenobiath circled around High Reaches, letting her call be a mix of both a roar and her own voice. It is time, my dears. I am in the skies, and I would wonder who has the skill to fly with me? Would you join? Her tone was rich with a warm lust, and a pride and amusement of sorts. These skies were HERS today, and no one could take that from her, Who among you thinks themselves ready to catch me? Dare you try? Come. This was the Empress' command, and she was prepared.

OH HEY LOOK, ANOTHER GOLDFLIGHT!

This time, it's Zeno's maiden flight, and High Reaches has a Queen ready to go!

Flight begins: NOW!
First Round Starts: Monday, 11/11 at 8pm CST

  • This is a CLOSED FLIGHT. This means that only dragons from High Reaches may join in. Zenobiath would have it no other way.

  • This flight does have a PREDETERMINED WINNER, but please do not let that dissuade you! Zeno would love to have a large turn out in the skies.

  • Rolling an entry, but not filling out an RP post halves the points.

  • Not rolling an entry before the time limit results in a 0

  • Please track your own rolls.

  • Alumet doesn't actually follow the 'Dragon decides, Rider complies mentality. She might actually take a person to bed that ISN'T the winning Rider. Who knows with this one!

  • Each round will last 2 days or until everyone has had a chance to roll and fill in their posts, whichever comes first.

  • There will be 5 posts!

  • GOLDRIDERS: Please remember to have your golds leave the weyr during the flight <3

  • People who participate in the flight will be entered in a giveaway for a pet! We'll be rolling for the prizes at the tail end of things!

  • Greens and blues are welcome to chase and flirt with Zenobiath! While she herself will not choose you (as she is a bit traditional), she loves the attention, all the same. Remember that you must drop out at some point in the flight, as Greens and blues don't have the same stamina as browns/bronzes!

  • Goldflights do cause Flight Lust! This means that everyone will be feeling some effects with the exception of jr. weyrlings and children!. Please KEEP this in mind!

  • NPCs are allowed! If you don't have an eligible brown or bronze, feel free to make up an NPC to participate! These dragons MUST BE from HR.

Lounging upon his weyrledge Aresoth found himself enjoying the remainder of the sunlight this afternoon. A break from the drills of the afternoon was always nice and he quite enjoyed the feel of the sun on his hide as His was making his way down towards the dining cavern to grab a quick bite to eat. Working as they did as hard as they did during their drills always found the growing young man moving towards the dining cavern to grab something to eat.

A flash of golden glittering hide taking air caught Aresoth's eye and had the bronze lifting his head from where he had been resting it. Tracking Zenobiath's movements, as well as noting the glowing quality of her, had purple beginning to whirl within his eyes before she had even let out a bugle.

C'ryn hadn't even had the chance to make it to the dining cavern before he felt the lust radiating from Aresoth hit him like a punch in the gut. Stopping dead in the hallway he reached out for Aresoth through their link, questioning what was going on but he already had a feeling.

Zenobiath rises. There was no need to continue that as Aresoth was already in the skies taking off towards his lovely golden sister intent upon answering her call. Go and chase your own Gold this night. C'ryn steadied himself against the wall for a moment, pushing and wading through the lust. He knew were Alumet's weyr was and was well aware he wouldn't be the only rider making their way there either.

In the air Aresoth moved easily through the currents and towards where Zenobiath was. Her calling roar was answered by one of his own, a brassy and deep bugle towards the lovely golden Queen. Zenobiath. The skies above our Weyr have not seen a sight quite as lovely as you. Those who called upon Zenobiath would be many as she deserved so much of this. Aresoth would chase after her among the crowd, fighting to vie for her attention and favor with the hopes of winning and he would not quite until she had chosen her winner, no matter what happened. He would prove he was the best bronze.

Brown Faloth

Faloth was fast asleep on his ledge when Zenobiath's throaty bugle pierced the air. The young brown was barely a Turn old, yet his head snapped up immediately and he zeroed in on the source. Such a beautiful lady! Her rich dark golden hide gleamed as she rose, and Faloth felt himself responding with an answering call. W'illMine! Zenobiath rises!

Deep in the bowels of the Lower Caverns, W'ill was sorting through the latest crop of hops. He was suddenly smacked hard with the sensation of lust and desire -- not that those feelings were a stranger to the flirtatious brewer, but this was more intense than anything he'd ever experienced. At the same time Faloth's words echoed through his mind, rich with want. You go right ahead and chase her, beloved, he replied with a grin. And catch her! I know you can do it! Putting aside the basket of hops, he started to make his way back to his weyr. He wanted to look his best to woo whomever came his way! Preferably Alumet!

With a deep rumbling bugle, Faloth scrambled to his feet and launched himself into the sky. Oh sweet Zenobiath, your beauty and strength call to me! I would be your suitor if you dare let me catch you! And such a suitor I would be! As if to emphasize this, he performed a few swoops and rolls as he pursued the gold. Nothing like showing off a little!

NPC A’gyn and Bronze Kurath

From his lounging on the fireheights, Kurath paused and tensed, lifting his head to peer down at the bowl below. He could feel the barest stirrings, watching the gleaming form of Zenobiath on her ledge. The slow-whirling facets flooded gradually with purple, unable to admire the gold in turn, but also the beginnings of flight lust touching his mind, and his bond.

’Again? I’m hungry.’

Zenobiath rises.

This time A’gyn paused, raising an eyebrow from his mid-step in the hallway, freezing as he felt his bronze rise from his lounging position on the fireheights. ’I.. suppose I’ll go to Alumet’s weyr, then.’ The rising wash of flightlust was growing to an almost nauseating level as he almost stumbled back the other direction.

Soaring down from his perch, he coasted down amongst the gathering suitors, bugling to Zenobiath. Your beauty shines so bright in the sunlight, Zenobiath. Your radiance deserves every audience member it draws.

/ / / / /

A’gyn
Impressing early on the sands, A’gyn’s a fresh 23 turns and figuring out his life. Friendly, he’s the guy who takes pride in knowing those around him in some way--for good or bad. A reactive man who relies on his wit to keep his mouth out of too much trouble, A’gyn will always have your corner, even if he’s been screwed over again and again by that person. A realist with an awful track record with love, he just wants to make the world a better place -- even if it starts on the smallest corners of those close to him.
Pros: Witty, Pragmatic, Outgoing
Cons: Anxious, Reactive, Forgiving

Bronze Kurath
Shelled 9 turns ago at High Reaches Weyr, Kurath is a complicated dragon. A diplomatic dragon at heart, he would much rather talk out aggression than any sort of act of violence -- verbal acts not withstanding. However, that isn’t to mean that he wouldn’t sink claws into someone, especially during a flight. While he’s rather social, and even charming in some lost boy way, his tastes with romance and flight will likely send him back to his ledge after any outcome. It’s for the best, anyway.
Pros: Driven, Diplomatic, Protective
Cons: Selfless, Broody, Guilt-ridden

As if he hadn't had enough reason to be restless of late, with more and more of his clutchmates Rising and chasing - in addition to the usual such business at the Weyr - his conversation the other day with Moirath had woken a nagging disturbed feeling within him. She'd not only noted the recent, ah, pursuits and feelings, but introduced him to the fact that she, at the very least, enjoyed guessing after who might be pursuing whom. She'd even danced around inquiring whether he had a someone in mind, and offered assistance if he had need of it! Of course he did not and did not, though he had been careful and polite about saying so.

It hadn't sat well with him, however; he disliked telling such a direct lie, but this was one thing in which he could not be honest. No matter how His pushed - harder and harder all the time - he did not like the feelings that he had. Holleth could never have said why, exactly, he thought these feelings to be ones he should not have, or where he had come by the idea. Talis certainly didn't have any bias against the preferences he tried so hard to hold at bay, and had always made it clear (in a loving way) that she thought it utterly foolish he should be ashamed of them. She tried to assure him that no one would care, and would often point out couples and even groups of mixes of blue, brown, and bronze, but he clung stubbornly to the self-shame he had carried for as long as he could remember. Not even an illuminating conversation with a certain other blue had quite done the trick. If anything, he only felt more unsettled than ever.

He was just ducking himself into the lake for a quick refresher after sweeps while His cleaned up in their weyr when one of the golds made herself known. Ah. Zenobiath. He raised his head and watched her circle, blinking away the calm green from his eyes. Yellow-orange, tinged with white, took its place as he turned heavy thoughts over in his mind. This...yes. He had ever found himself lacking for being what he perceived to be so unlike his father, and here, now, was presented to him an opportunity to pretend, and safely so.

The delicate little blue waded out of the lake and flung open his wide wings to take to the air in one graceful leap, trailing cool droplets in his wake. Zenobiath, he acknowledged, all civility. The sun catches you well. It was no lie to observe so, though the sight stirred nothing in him.

In their weyr and half out of her leathers, Talis could only shake her head. You have got to- Oh, you idiot boy. She said it with all the love in the world, but really?

NPC K’oan of brown Xycerith

It was beautiful out and he was s o ready to rest his bones in the sunshine. Yesterday was his heavy work day, and today he was just going to sit and finally finish reading his b o o k- ?
Oh, oh of course. When K’oan had his day so planned to do nothing and to kick his books off.
He could nearly feel Xycerith grinning from snout to headknob. She rises, she shines! As if K’oan needed an explanation to waves of flightlust starting to make his palms sweat. He stamped a booted foot impatiently making his way to Alumet’s Weyr. K’oan would think Xycerith would take his preferences into mind when rising, but if it shines.. That sweet lug has to chase it.

K’oan had to give Xycerith a heavy mental nudge. If he was going to chase the big boy had to get on with it already! Enough preening, you’re handsome as ever Xycer. Sail shaped wing fanned, raising his lithe body with ease. Xycerith hurled himself above the lake, delighting in the world shrinking beneath him.

Xycerith’s eyes swept over the fellow suitors even if his eyes were drawn by the gleam of Zenobiath. Sweetling, look at you, a star bright enough for a blue sky!

Calliope had been cleaning hers and Thoth's weyr when she felt the ripple from the brown. Her gaze went to the weyrledge, watching as the dragon seemed to thrum. "Thoth? What is it?" She went over, touching his arm lightly.

The dragon's eyes swirled many colors, most notable amid them various shades of purple and violet. Zenobiath Rises... He looked at His, pushing his face into her front. I must chase.

Calliope drew in a breath, eyes widening. Had that much time already passed? It seemed like only yesterday Zenobiath and her clutchmates had hatched! "You're sure?"

As sure as the Dawn Sisters shine upon the sky. He nuzzled His, then turned. She commands, and I chase! Muscles bunching, Thoth pushed off the ledge, wings beating as he rose into the air amid the others. Zenobiath, Thoth chases you! Will you let me sing of your beauty for all to hear?

On the weyrledge, Calliope watched him go. "Do your best, Thoth..."

The air had a certain bite to it. It chilled her nose. Banashe eyed the snow covered peaks and knew it would only get colder as winter progressed. There was something more in the air though. She sensed it and knew Severith also sensed it. A gold rises, his eye glittered as he waited for the desirable creature to reveal herself. Banashe nodded and headed for her weyr. She had no interest in gold riders.

Who would it be? The one-eyed brown shifted on his ledge as he watched the feeding pens. It is Zenobiath. Fly well, Banashe wished her brown. Severith answered Zenobiath's bugle with a trumpet of his own as he pushed off his ledge. He had a goal and would do anything for it.

I am Severith and the best dragon to catch you, beautiful queen. For Severith had no doubt in his mind who among her chasers should win. Him.

With his tender hearts still aching, Sucurith stared up at the snow capped mountains. Oh, if he could only throw himself upon those peaks, and bury the ills of the day in their chill. But it was foolish indeed to think such thoughts. No amount of ice would freeze his hearts, no matter how he might wish it. When the queen blooded her kill, the young blue was startled. Already? It seemed that the other ladies of the Weyr had known, for the golden queens were nowhere to be found.

Nor, indeed, was a certain... someone.

Well. Sucurith would... would not stay by his ledge and pretend to fade away as he had so often done. Zenobiath had called upon the Weyr to follow her, and perhaps he might do so for a time. Even though she could never be what his hearts longed for... perhaps he might be a consolation prize. After all, there could only be one winner. Zenobiath... do you mind company in the skies? he asked politely, following down to the feeding grounds so that he could blood a kill of his own. He would need energy if he was to join her there.

Sa'ana of Brown Memianth
User Image

There had been a flood of rising greens recently, enough that he had even partaken in a few, but they had not stirred his hearts or blood. There was not much to actually catch his attention. At least, until the sight of the gold rising into the afternoon light, the snow-capped mountains gleaming with her reflection in the background, caught his attention. This, this was a flight He could be proud to take part in, catching the queen or not. As purple started to bleed into his normally placid calm gaze he sought to give His some sort of warning. A queen flight, Mine. Prepare. I fly!

Sa'ana sent a mental nudge. Don't worry about me, Beloved. Go. Fly

You shine to put the sun in shame, beautiful one. It will be an honor to share the sky. With powerful strokes of his wings, he made his way into the sky joining the others who sought to fly the lovely queen.

There was work in plenty to be done, even with the maturation of the dual-clutch broods of Rhianth and Fianth. Several among their number had yet to realize their potential, if you asked the Weyrlingmaster or his dragon, but time, it seemed, waited for none of them, and already later clutches were under their tutelage and growing swiftly. And perhaps that was why it as not shocking to the clever brown to see a familiar golden hide rise glittering into the air. A fair wait, the pretty thing had put them all to, but now was as good a time as ever. While Aviroth still held his judgement pending as to the quality of Uridith's blood—foreign as is was, from whatever Weyrhold she'd fled from—he knew the worth of Takarath's lineage.

Zenobiath had always been a fine pupil as well; of right mind and properly traditional. Everything a gold of High Reaches ought to be.

From his desk, V'mel gave no sign of distress when he felt the pulse and pull of Aviroth's untethered interest. As the brown rose and spread his wings, the man id not even pause in his work. He tapped at the inkstone in its well, en scratching over the report he was working on, staidly finishing it to the last note and mention of the morning classes. Outside the weyr, a deep, piercing trumpet joined the calling multitude, each baying for the shining gold's attention. Noble Zenobiath, the brown's words came, in a tone that from her lesson days had demanded to be heard, though now with all the full and proper respect due to one of the Weyr's golds, You do your home proud this day. Let all of Pern rejoice as you take to the skies, and may Faranth guide you into the claws of one who will bring the Weyr to even higher reaches!

Only once the brown was aloft, circling after the waiting gold, and a dusting of sand set the scroll's ink to safe dryness did V'mel as well rise from his spot. None but one who knew the man most intimately would catch the hair's-breadth quickening to his pace as he crossed to depart the weyr, or the keenly hidden spark in his stone-gray eyes. When a gold rose to passion, so too did her rider... but it was not Alumet's company that the Weyrlingmaster now so directly sought. Not her paler golden hair he imagined pressing quiet, unseen kisses to all the ends of, later as the day dwindled and long after the dragons had all returned to their ledges in victory or defeat.

At the bugle Aryath looked up from his ledge with interest. What? Another one? L’iand groused as Aryath began climbing to his feet, flight lust already beginning to course through him. It is Zenobiath. It would be rude to ignore a Qureen.

He launched himself and called out to the lovely gold. Who would dare to forgo following such a lovely lady into the sky?

Not interested in a headache, L’iand sighed and went in search of a partner.

Rizoth's eyes whirled a rich purple as Zenobiath flew down to make her kill. She as a lovely creature, to be sure, and the seasoned bronze felt that familiar tug. His claws ached to catch another, to twine his neck just-so, and to ensure the Weyr would continue to thrive. Should he not win, already there was a gathering of contenders, with some blue hide mixed in as well. Thrumming with pleasure, it was no surprise when the dark bronze trumpted his challenge.

He was a prize to be had, to be sure, and Rizoth had no real concerns. Who who pursued Zenobiath had the experience that he did? He could not, and would not, sit out this race. Flights were something he adored, and even if he might not win the golden gem, he could easily grip hold of another. Why wouldn't he get himself involved? The sky looked inviting, and Zenobiath looked radiant among them.

I know without a doubt that I have the skill and the spirit to fly with you, gorgeous Zenobiath. I've more experience than all your contenders combined, and proven history to match. You deserve nothing but the best, sweet one, and if it pleases you, I'll share with you all the pleasures of the flesh and hearts combined. Pleasure, no doubt, the great gold might very much like to have...

I'tan, for his part, knew that Rizoth had every intention to chase. There was rarely a gold flight that didn't have the bronze as a contender, and the familiar rise of pleasure was a sure sign. Finding Alumet's weyr wouldn't be difficult, at least not if he could keep his dragon's lust at bay. He stumbled through the corridors, every step bringing him closer to Rizoth's deep and overwhelming passion.

Though he didn't know Alumet well, he was about as rakish as the golden haired woman. The fact they hadn't fallen together already was almost a surprise. Flight lust was a powerful thing, though, and the bronze rider had every intention of finding some sort of company. But, he was a traditional man, and one would always pay homage to the rider of the rising lady... It would be rude not to, of course.

There were others heading to Alumet's weyr, and though he smiled in his usual confident, and rakish fashion, he didn't see them as competition. After all the Turns, the red-haired rider knew that a flight was a flight, and the outcome never certain. Their dragons might be competing for Zeno's hearts, but that didn't mean they wouldn't turn around and be wingmates and friends as soon as it was needed.

By the time he arrived, he cared little for the othes. His eyes, instead, were on her. "Alumet," he all but purred in greeting. She would be focused on Zenobiath, no doubt, just as he could feel Rizoth stretch his wings, and prepare for the flight at hand. "You're looking as radiant as ever." He doubted he'd be able to hold onto the charm the longer the flight carried on.
