There were a lot of upset tensions as the candidates were pulled away from the eggs - the parents were set to their children, and Danzik and Eosphoth were set to their duty which right now was letting the candidates finish going through all of their feelings. To be hit by an egg's raw emotions could be a very jarring experience, and while Danzik had Eosphoth to steady her thru the wave of emotions with a reminder of love, support, and completion that no other being in the world would ever be able to offer, the candidates didn't have that. And as the pair watched their wards being summoned back, Danzik kept an eye out. As did Eosphoth, who crooned sweely at one young man, leaning out to nudge the top of her head with his snout. Come, come, she summoned, moving to lift a wing and summoning him to her side. She'd offer nothing else until he was there, where she was obviously offering a moment to take the heat off his head.

His emotions still roiled through him like venom, blistering each and every thought until he felt so revolted that he could hardly stand himself. Though they'd been separated from the clutch, the anger and injustice that clung to him now were solely his. He'd tried to be positive upon coming onto the sands, but doubts still nipped at his heels and hounded him with a relentlessness that made him way to lash out at anything that happened to look at him wrong. The sudden nudge to his head startled him more than anything, and Bukichi stared at Eosphoth for a long moment before slowly moving underneath the proffered shade. "Thank you." He muttered. Was it worth spending a few more Turns at the Weyr, hoping a dragon would find him? Or would he be better off getting a new start on his life? It was impossible to say, and Bukichi's current level of frustration made it a futile attempt to try and think through. He'd been hoping, despite himself, to have a moment like Aryale had talked about... a spark of hope, a connection--something that might make him think a dragon wanted him just as badly as he wanted it.

Eosphoth rested her neck and head as though she was guarding Bukichi from outside observers, thrumming as he took shelter and stewed in his thoughts. Is it worth throwing away the chance that there is someone here who will love you beyond your wildest dreams? Eosphoth inquired, her voice soft as she pushed gentle waves over his heated mind. Nothing about her tone or touch was judgement for his feelings, and there was a part of her that knew he was simply riled by the explosion of feelings on the sands. Just understanding, just giving him a place to work it all out.

Bukichi couldn't help but compare Eosphoth's voice to Yaguareth's. Yaguareth was a good and noble dragon, but there was... something here that reminded him strongly of his own mother. How she would gather him to her chest when he was young after failing yet another test compared to Matotoka, how she would smooth his hair back and kiss his brow while telling him how proud she was. It made Bukichi realize how badly he missed his mother's guidance and advice. She'd been the only person who had made him feel worthy, back then. Not when you phrase it that way. He concluded a bit more bitterly than he'd like, unconsciously reaching back for her with his own mind. But it was true. Seeing the bond between dragon and rider... knowing that if he walked out and could potentially miss out on something that profound would likely make him wonder 'what if?' for the rest of his life. Bukichi was just so tired of being unsure about himself. He was a strong, capable man... and he bitterly resented the fact that Matotoka had followed him all the way here to continue to cast his shadow.

Eosphoth didn't quite understand the analogy about shadows and the like, but she continued to hum. He feels the way L'nik did about me tending to other candidates, Danzik explained, set to her own calming when Eosphoth asked. It wasn't quite the same, but it was enough for Eosphoth to understand. He didn't feel important! Is there a sun that shines just for you? One that when you look upon it burns out everything else in this world except for you? I am sure even that shadow cannot stand to it. Are you a shining sun, Bukichi? she asked, genuinely interested in his answer.

A sun that shone just for him... Aryale certainly was one. No matter how he'd tried to push her away--well, he'd been sorely reprimanded for making decisions for her. Still, he would never think of himself as a shining sun... I don't think so. His amusement was wry--still bitter, but trying to keep that emotion a bit better under wraps. But I do have someone who thinks I'm important. He conceded. Though he'd want some time to himself before he spoke to Aryale, Eosphoth reminded him that he wasn't alone. Not entirely.

Ah, he seemed to be handling things a little bit better, and Eosphoth was very pleased to see the worst of his mood was starting to shed away. You are a shining sun, but it is not you who is beholding it - that shadow will never have power over you as long as you are here. love, love, love, she'd wash it over Bukichi endlessly as long as he was sheltering under her wing, doing her best to brush away the worst of the brunt he'd taken on.

I hope you're right. He thought honestly, allowing himself to bask in the warm love radiating from the dragon. Eosphoth hardly knew him, but that seemed to matter very little. She still cared, and Bukichi was grateful. How many others had she comforted like this? Soothing frazzled minds and bruised hearts, helping them find their feet again. Thank you. He offered a touch reluctantly, ashamed at his own weakness. He would do better. He would be better.

I am! Eosphoth answered - though there was a note of innocent truth in her voice. Less like she knew it confidently and more like she simply had that knowledge in her very bones. Still, she'd not push him away or urge him on, instead allowing the young man to stay comfortably where he was as long as he liked. She'd dote as long as he lingered. Eosphoth was patient enough to wait as long as he needed. Tsunake Possible wrap unless he needs more comfort from Mama Green
