Snow crunched beneath her hooves as a dark blue mare stepped out and away from what she had come to call home. Pale blue eyes turned skywards as the sun slowly started to rise over the mountains beyond. While she saw not the ever brightening skies over head or the clouds that passed in a lazy manner. The wind was a crisp breeze that winter morning as Alaska breathed in the freshness. The winds the day before had brought new snow that started to cling to the fluff of her hooves. "The winds have calmed." She said to herself as her ears twitched back towards where she had last felt her mate. Turning her head slightly as if to look back, she wasn't that far from the snow covered trees that outlined home. The warmth between the spruce ebbed away from her coat as the shadows lengthened to shrink. As she was lost within her own thoughts, the soft crunching of snow off to one side was almost missed. But the voice was something that caused Alaska to jump and turn quickly, her ears forward once more. "Hello my little lamb."Stepping backwards away from the space that her mate slept, Alaska wasn't too sure what to say. Thoughts of her past flooded her mind. The feeling of the bitter cold of the north that could eat its way to the bones. The tears that froze as she cried sealing her eyes shut the night everything was lost. Those thoughts were shoved aside as the memory of the warmth over took everything that was cold. Something larger then herself had found her, she never knew what, only that it had saved her that night. "All grown up I see, what else have you been up to?" asked the voice that made Alaska back up another step, her hooves heavy with the memories. WC: 312

Owlbear had been traveling, searching far and wide for someone. This one had left the north a long time ago, seemed the mare had grown wary of the cold, then again who could blame her. The constant snow and wind. The ever grey skies that cleared up once and a while to let the sun shine down upon the white landscape. Fluffing out her wings, the skinwalker paused a moment and looked around. The bear inhaled slightly as the crisp morning brought many scents to her. One stood out, one scent picked at a memory from her time back when the blizzards were at their worst. Icy colored eyes looked around for the source of the smell. Crouching low against the snow, her wings fanning out to her sides to try and muffle some of the steps, but her bulk refused to let her be silent. Rounding a stand of bushes, the nebula colored bear spotted someone from her own past.
A grin slipped over her muzzle as she stepped closer, raising her head up as she walked. The mare was of a dark hue of blue with that oh so familiar frosting over her back and cascading tail of green. Though it seemed that she was a grown mare now, last time Owlbear had seen this one was when she was a yearling and looking to leave the north. Owlbear had let her go, half leading her to where the lands changed to summer, but had turned away feeling her job finished. But now, now she had found her once again.
"Hello my little lamb." Owlbear said openly as she noted the mare's reaction.
While it did hurt a little that the mare was surprised. Had she forgotten her that quickly after coming to these warmer lands? Tilting her head to one side, Owlbear shed her bulky bear form to that of an equine with large paws. A gem embedded in one paw kept the madness from her thoughts. The ever want to rend and teach the mare a lesson on forgetting, but these were different years she hated her past. Shaking her head, thick ears twitched forwards as she stepped closer to the mare a head of her.
All grown up I see, what else have you been up to?" Owlbear asked as she reached out with a wing to brush against the mare's side, though Alaska did dance a little in place at the touch. "Come tell Big Mama all about your adventures. Have you met anyone since coming south?"
Her gaze glanced over towards the stand of trees that she had come around. Seems that this was her lamb's home. The scent of another reached her muzzle and the skinwalker grinned. Seems the lamb had been doing quite well for herself. This pleased her, really it made her proud that her lamb had found someone...

The stallion shrunk himself to a small form during the night so he can nestle in the "nest" they created for him just right above Alaska's sleeping spot so he could watch over his loved one while she sleeps and there are muttering and mumbling that could be heard wafting from the cave. As the sun makes its slow ascent into the skies, Memphis makes small complaining noises as he grudgingly starts his process of waking up which is simply moving his muzzle to the edge of the nest/bed, opening his pupilless eyes few times to get adjusted to all of the faint colors appearing in his line of vision. "Alaska...?" He calls out groggily as he stands up in his nest, shaking off the tired energy and fluttering his wings, floating down to the ground. An unfamiliar voice and unfamiliar yet dangerous aura linger outside the cave where his mate is standing to greet the sun, Memphis shudders a bit as the creepy-crawly feeling skitters under his skin. Not daring to transform to his full height, he slowly flutters over to the mouth of the entrance to take in the "sights" and it wasn't the sight he would like to "see". There is a huge HUGE blue bear speaking to HIS mate. Without thinking about the dire consequences, he beelined toward the bear with his teeth bared, determined to harass the bear to chase her off. When the bear transforms into equine form, a small "Oh s**t" could be heard from the flutter as he backtracked and "blew up" into his regular size in front of his mate in a protective stance. If any soquilis or animals with really keen hearing would hear his heart trying to escape from its cage inside his chest but Memphis' sole focus is to protect his beloved and make sure nothing gets to her. "Alaska...." His white eyes flicker to his mate quickly before keeping them fixated on the skinwalker. "..... this skinwalker is acting as she knows you." He says softy to his mate, not sure what is going on because any skinwalker won't hesitate to attack but this skinwalker refuses to make any move toward Alaska which puzzled him. WC- 368

Thick ears flicked slightly as something small came whizzing from behind them. Big Mama barely realized what it was, having not really come across any that fluttered or could shrink to bite sized portions. When this bite sized black thing appeared before her and seemed to be trying to put themselves between her and Alaska. The skinwalker raised her wings before kind of dancing to the side as the small things grew to their size.
"Oh-ho. Seems my little lamb has found someone." Owlbear smiled as she watched the stallion as he placed himself between her and Alaska. "I'm Owlbear, though you are welcome to call me Big Mama." She grinned holding out a wing in a manner of greeting.
Alaska's ears flicked slightly as she raised her head to the sounds of her mates wings. She would know them anywhere before the warmth of his body replaced that of the thick fur. "Memphis..." She said softly nosing at him until she found his mane to bury her face into it. "We know each other. From the past. In the cold north so many summers ago." Her voice barely rose higher then a whisper before she pulled away from him.
Her face turned away from them as things from her foalhood came at a rush. Like a river that had been stoppered by a beaver home for far too long. The cold of the north had always bitten deep into her bones that even now she shivered against the warmth of the changing seasons. Long tail flicking as she all but curled up on the ground, she was still standing after all. Alaska turned her head back towards her mate and the skinwalker.
"You were the one who saved me that night. When I was all but lost in the swirling snow." Alaska said, ears still back a bit, as if the shrieking of the winds were in them. "The night I lost my sight." She remembered that fateful night, she had grown lost from her own family. Having cried herself hoarse and tears frozen. Alaska had given up and had curled up in the snow, a dark blue spot against the masses of shifting white...
"The north is always unforgiving." Was all that the skinwalker said as she watched the pair, bemused. They were an odd couple, but it made her all warm and cozy beneath that this pelt of fur.
"What have you come to take from me now?" Was a softer question, feeling that the tax might be more then just her sight.

Standing rigidly in front of his mate, Memphis is not so ready to trust any skinwalkers especially when it comes to his beloved family and he grunts a bit when the skinwalker spoke to him while his eyes narrow a bit when he sees vague night-sky colored wing extending to them. "Don't come near us!" Memphis snapped the words out as he growls a bit. "Owlbear or Big Mama... it doe-..." His angry sentence was cut off when he felt his heart nuzzling into his body then his mane and he turns his head a bit to nuzzle her while keeping his eyes trained on the skinwalker. "Alaska.... " He murmurs softly and a shudder of surprise could be felt by his mate when it was revealed that his love knows a ... skinwalker.
Knowing that her mate has a turbulent past, Memphis is extremely protective of Alaska and only wants to make her feel loved, also to see that beautiful smile on her muzzle... with that being said, that smile is gone and the stallion is indeed not happy about it. When Alaska withdrew from him a little bit, Memphis shifts his weight from one set of hooves to other.. clearly fidgeting because he knows he's not equipped to fight a skinwalker but if needed, he protect her or he will die for his love. When Alaska started to speak, it was in a whisper or just above a whisper, the stallion has to move closer to her to be able to hear what she is saying. He sniffs at the air as he took a chance to move his eyes from the skinwalker to Alaska, feeling his blood slowly turning to ice at the soft question Alaska directed to the skinwalker.
A wide array of emotions assaulted him and his pure white eyes keep darting back and forth from his love of life to someone he will probably have to fight... soon, Memphis mentally took a deep breath as he lowers his head in an almost aggressive manner and positions himself so the skinwalker will literally have to go through him to get to the mare behind him. "This skinwalker is not taking anything from you, Alaska..." His voice was velvety soft and dangerous while his eyes glittering with determination. "Nobody will ever take anything from you again, that's my solemn vow to you, my queen." He growls the words out while all of his anger is aimed at the skinwalker.
