Naunet couldn’t believe the situation they were in.
The last month or so had presented them with a tidal wave of new information. Confusing, frustrating, irritating information. Back in Naunet’s old tribe (it still felt weird to refer to it as their old home...), they had accidentally stumbled upon their true origins. Their father was no mere rogue. No, through hushed whispers, Naunet had learned that their father had actually been a member from the Kemet Tribe. A fox that had been happily mated when he decided to go and have a fling with the young ‘phim’s mother, an affair that had lasted on and on until the male finally had to head back home to Kemet.
Naunet was the result of that fling, the truth kept a secret all this time.
Tossing all privilege and rank aside, Naunet had decided to leave their tribe in the dead of night, flying off without a word to anyone. Not the other tribe members, not their fellow diplomats, not even their own mother. Naunet vanished. They couldn’t let their father get away with this. So Naunet had left, with every intention of confronting their father when they eventually found the Kemet Tribe.
Then Naunet discovered that their father was dead. Dead, along with his poor, oblivious mate and the rest of Kemet’s old tribe members, all of them swept away by the sands and a chaotic ‘deity. Every single one of them, gone... except for Horus, the new leader of the tribe.
Naunet didn’t know what to say or do when Horus delivered that news, when they had first met just a few days ago. Still, the ‘phim had accepted the Elder’s generous offer to stay with the tribe and rest, though Naunet had kept their distance as the tribe went about their day to day activities. The young diplomat made sure to be as polite and kind as possible when approached, but otherwise? They kept to the sidelines, observing the tribe and trying to make sense of their situation.
What the hell were they supposed to do now?
They didn’t want to return to their old tribe, and they had failed miserably at resolving their father’s misdeeds. Naunet couldn’t go back, and they couldn’t move forward in the way they had set out to.
Well s**t, now what?
... ... ...
“Damn that father of mine...” And so here Naunet was, laying in the sand a respectable distance outside of Horus’ dwelling, one leg neatly crossed over the other. The morning sun warmed their coat as they waited for the other fox to make an appearance, hoping to talk with the Elder. Was Horus sleeping in his living space? Or was he out and about already, fulfilling his Elderly duties, despite how early it was? Naunet didn’t know, but they could wait.
((I pretty much laid out Naunet's entire situation/backstory in this post, but if you need any clarification/more details, DM me! <3))
