Remiel had managed to get Vaella back home, so now he was just walking around, thinking on things. His mind thought of the winter storm they had found themselves in, how cold it had been. It had freezing enough that he had been deeply afraid it would cause Vaella's wings significant damage. Then he thought of how they had decided just to call each other by name while in the cave they had found. It had felt so good on his tongue, like it had been a desire of his for the longest time. If he was honest with himself, it had been something he had wanted, to just be able to say her name without using a title in front of it. While he didn't mind referring her to Lady when he needed to, it felt like something special just to use the name Vaella. It was like it brought them closer, in a way they had not been before.
He pictured her form in front of the fire they had started, his hearts beating in his chest as he did. There had been a beautiful elegance to her as she had been captured by the light of the flames. He just pictured how the light had made her delicate wings to seem to glow, it had been a lovely sight. Granted, he could be biased, but he really did not care if he was or not. He had been Vaella's guard long enough, that he knew her as well as one could. Well, he supposed her family and friends might know her better, he was not completely sure of that. However, he wanted to believe he knew her pretty well and hoped she knew him well enough as well. If she didn't, maybe that was something he would need to work on. If it was, then he would do his best to make sure that was the case. He stopped near a tree and allowed his eyes to take in the sounds of the birds around him. It was almost like they were singing his feelings in how cheerful they sounded to him. (WC: 355)
