Over the last month, rumors surrounding abdication and succession have dominated the social circles in the Pridelands. King Tau was king no longer! The young king passed the crown, and the burden of it, back to his grandfather; the venerable Simi. In an emergency meeting with his council, Simi called himself regent, not king, and set about naming a new heir and monarch for the Pridelands. Amending the order of succession once more, Simi named his niece his heir and crown princess of the Pridelands.
Mahea was a well-known Pridelander, recognized for her talents as a healer and diplomatic skills already shown in aiding some former Pridelanders in finding and negotiating a place in a new pride. However, she was not ready for the task of ruling a pride so large and vast as the Pridelands, but the council has shown to be united in their support for Mahea, aiding in tutoring her alongside Simi. While she had only been the Pridelands' crown princess for less than a month, a steep decline in Simi's health forced the royal family to act.
On a cool morning following a night of rainfall, the amber lioness ascended Pride Rock with the confidence befitting her new position as monarch of the Pridelands. Taking a moment to observe from above, she waited for the gathered creatures to calm themselves before speaking. "Pridelanders!" Mahea called, "This is our home. The lands of our ancestors and our children. These lands have ever been my home and even when away from them, I am called back. I rise before you as queen, but also a guardian of you, these lands, and the Circle of Life."
Once silence fell, Mahea roared to the Pridelands, solidifying her place as Queen, waiting to see if the Pridelands would roar back.

- Mahea is on Pride Rock. Your Pridelanders are way down on the grass below. In this RP, there is no interaction between the Queen. You are interacting with your fellow members.
This ORP is open for anyone to join, but each user may only have one non-Pridelander join this event.
If you do not have a Pridelander or SoA, you may roleplay an unlined creature, such as a zebra, elephant, warthog, or giraffe.
It is entirely possible for your Pridelander to be unhappy with this announcement. Conflicts of opinion are quite alright.
