Booberry Puff stood absolutely still. Her body settled low to the ground, almost laying down but not quite, with her turquoise eyes fixated ahead of her. There in the shade of a mighty oak tree, sequestered to themselves in a handmade gardening box, sprouted the first of the new flowers she had planted. Her excitement upon seeing their buds had been enormous. She hadn’t been able to contain her squeal of delight, darting over to the little lovelies in an instant. They were just buds at the moment, of course, but seeing even the smallest growth made her happy. Spring was the season of new things, after all, and these flowers were very new to her.
She’d been traveling to visit her son when she’d spotted a merchant stall full of flowers. The large proprietor was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Needless to say, the two had spoken for quite a while before she took notice of the time. It had been that merchant who gave her the seedlings for these flowers. Interestingly, though, even he didn’t know precisely their purpose. If they were simply meant to be pretty or if they held some other quality. He’d given her the seedlings in the hopes that, between the two of them, the flowers’ secrets would be uncovered. Boo had taken great care not to lose or damage the seedlings on her journey. She’d planted all but one of them as soon as she’d returned home, providing extra attention to them after she tended to the rest of her garden.
The tiny Usdia waited patiently. All the while she speculated on the flowers. Her initial suspicion was the most simple- that it merely looked pretty. Yet experience taught her that some of the prettiest plants could be some of the deadliest as well; thus, she decided to experiment for any poison affinity. The thought of an aphrodisiac came to mind as well. However, it was the possibility for healing which seemed to most draw her focus. Something about the midnight blue hue speckled with flecks of silvery-white gave a pleasant and soothing vibe, connoting a sense of healing. Not that Boo would go solely on appearance…and yet…she couldn’t escape the notion that this was a healing herb instead of a destructive one. There were still a few more weeks to go before she could begin testing. To say she was curious would be an understatement. She was ecstatic!
