Hikaru glanced out of his den to check the sky. He had arranged the day before to go on a family trip to the nearby lake if it was nice the following day. It was bright and clear with not a cloud in the sky. Perfect weather for the planned outing.
He wandered around his home gathering the things he would need for the day and putting them in a pack. Once he was done packing he headed to the guest room to wake his niece. Akiko had stayed the night to be able to go on this trip. Her mother Asami was going to be busy all day and unable to come along.
Nerida swam around her pool in excitement. Her father was taking her and some other family members to the nearby lake today. Spotting her father approaching she swam over to the bank and jumped into her waiting bucket with practiced ease hanging her paws over the edge. She wiggled happily when she saw her cousin Akiko trotting along side Hikaru. Of all her cousins Akiko was the one that played with her the most.
Akiko booped noses with the seathi in greeting. "Morning Nerida," she said cheerfully. She stood next to her cousin as they waited for the others to arrive.
Izumi had made plans with Ume to spend time with other family members. Nerida was going to play in the lake and he wasn't going to miss the opportunity to play with her there. He had come up with a game to play with her. He woke up early to go and find Ume so they could go meet the others together. He didn't have to look for her very hard because she was in her favorite area. The trees in spring were a beautiful shade of pink. She loved to spend time around the trees and the beautiful wild flowers. When she spotted her father she lit up with joy. She always liked to see and spend time with him. She didn't talk much but it was easy to read her mood. She gave him a gentle smile and nod as she moved to meet him. She gave him a soft nuzzle and then they set off for family day.

Hikō stretching out his wings as he and his brother Niwa were going on an outing with their uncle and a few other family members. They didn't know who outside of their uncle Hikaru. Pulling his wings back to his sides as he was done stretching and goes to wake up his brother. "Yo Niwa you need to get up. I know we got ready late last night but that doesn't mean we can go on sleeping all day. We are going to miss the family trip." He points out as he pokes his brother who is slow to wake but Hikō does not give up one bit. After awhile Hikō gets Niwa up and moving. Watching his brother stretch as he picks up the packs they put together last night and puts his on his back and plops Niwa's down on Niwa's back. Turning as he heads out to meet up with their uncle and the rest of the members that are going with them. Smiling as he sees all who is going. "Well this is going to be fun." He states as he looks back at Niwa. "Come on get your butt moving." He is a bit jealous of Niwa as he is a flutter and can size down and ride on someone for awhile if he wanted to though he has never seen Niwa size down. But today he will. They made a bet and he knows that he can win it. So this trip is going to be fun.

Niwa waking up after being poked and annoyed by his brother. "I am up.. I get it." He gets to his feet and shakes as he stretches out and then gets his pack plopped onto his back. "You are in a hurry I see." He heads out behind his brother after being told to move his butt. They have a bet that if he loses then he will size down. He knows he can but has always been scared to. But out to a lake with others sounds safe enough to do it. He steps out to where all the others are and looks at everyone who was going. He smiles as he is looking forward to this as he does get out much. Normally is stays where the gardens are no matter where the herd is at the time of year. Their family herd is known to travel throughout the year. But this is helpful with the other herds they help out. He still stays by himself as he does not really do the out to meet and greet others. No wonder he is a bit on the shy side. He looks about as he follows his brother. Niwa says hi to all there as he smiles at them as well. He is looking forward to a trip because it is rare that he goes on any trips at all. Humming a bit as he bumps into his brother and whispers. "Hmm what happens on trips like this one?" He wonders.
