It was a familiar feeling, what Valentine was feeling in the moment; Like she wanted to run, hide and stay safe. Unfortunately, it was an annual holiday, of sorts- One where there were large gatherings of others for...some reason or another. She wasn't sure, as she'd never participated. Besides, large crowds were the bane of her existence. Her happy little bubble of safety had been ruptured by someone she actually considered a friend quite literally dragging her out to meet others. So far, the only one she's even managed to get close to had large, feathered wings. And though she had drawn up the courage to get closer, before she could close enough to speak, she stopped. Still and silent. The only movement a gently tremble of her undersized wings. At least, perhaps there wouldn't be an audience to witness her failure if she turned and ran. In fact, she may well make like a feline and slink away. She wanted to make a new friend. She did. She really, really did! (07/20

Naosu was day-dreaming when she spotted the dark tail. Thinking it looked rather draconic, she only slowly lifted her head to look at the owner, giving a wide-eyed blink as her pre-conceived idea was shattered. After this brief moment of surprise however, she smiled. "Hello!" She chirped. "Naosu is Naosu!" As this individual was standing quite close, and also seemed quite nervous, it seemed best to put them at their ease as best as she could. Though this was an audience of one, for Naosu this was a familiar situation and maybe there would be a budding friendship at hand too. Still it was best not to come on too strong, and so she kept herself from saying more than introducing herself. She couldn't help her tail swishing happily all the same. Was this individual going to be a new friend? (07/20

Oh. Gods help her. Tail tucked between her legs, Valentine, at first approach, felt like a foal again, just emerging from the safety of her basket and wishing to go right back in. Usually, her interpretation of a swishing tail was that of danger. The last time a being had come at her with a swishing tail had been a large draconic stallion, and she didn't stay to find out what it meant in the end. Only that he looked scary. Oh, those halcyon days when she wasn't being forced to socialize But, this being? This winged unicorn? They...seemed soft. They didn't growl, they chirped. They seemed...nice. Perhaps her pre-concieved notion of a swishing tail was incorrect? Slowly, her tail uncurled, and her wings, tightly folded against her side, relaxed. "....'tine..." She managed to whisper, the doggrel sentence barely audible with her whispered voice. But she tried! She really, really tried this time! Even if she was shaking like a leaf! (13/20

Naosu tilted her head, ears swiveling to try and pick up what the other mare had said. Well now, she was even more shy than she thought! Best to be gentle then, as soft as she could be. If this new potential friend had trouble conversing, then it was up to Naosu to contribute more. "Sorry, Naosu didn't hear you, but she assumes you said hello, so hello!" Another bright smile was offered. (08/20

Someone who didn't get angry at her for being quiet? Someone who wasn't annoyed immediately? No cutting words? No scalding lecture? Amazing. Some form of courage was slowly budding in her, and her posture showed it. She even showed a hint of a smile. Honestly, Naosu's bright smile was contributing greatly to her slowly building courage. Honestly, she was completely besotted by the green mare's personality, not really ever having met someone like her. Not even in her wildest day-dreams. "Valentine." Her voice was still small, and even if they were in a canyon the echo wouldn't ricochet off of the walls at all. But, she was louder! "M-my name is V-v-valentine. A-and I..." What else did one say?! How would she contribute to the conversation!? "...I l-like your wings..." Yes. Perfect. Amazing. The best compliment ever! (20/20)

"Valentine." Naosu repeated and bobbed her head. "Naosu is happy to meet you, Valentine. You have a very nice name." She fluttered her wings at the compliment. "Thank you! Naosu loves her wings too." For all that Valentine looked a little bit scary, that didn't matter to Naosu. Shy people were hardly any bane to her. Indeed, she took it as a challenge! What halcyon days these were! (10/20

Naosu was nice, and she was so soothing and kind. This felt very similar to the first time she'd met a friend- met her current only friend. But, right now, it seemed like she was well on her way to making another? "Your name is....really nice too, Naosu." She was doing her best to not stutter. Her gaze slid over to where the larger crowds were, and a thought slowly formed. Surely Naosu was better at talking to others than she was, right? "Would...W-would it be okay if we...um...If we could..." She was curling in herself somewhat again, but this time she caught herself. No! No running away! Naosu was nice, and she deserved another friend! "Can we...Go and see if the traders have any good snacks?" It would be okay. It would be a nice start to a friendship, sharing some snacks! (20/20)

Naosu bobbed her head with a smile. "Yes! Let's go see if we can find some nice snacks!" She extended her wing to put over Valentine. If her interpretation of Valentine's behavior was right, then she needed some gentle nudging and careful handling. But that was okay. She had done this before and she would do it again. She had friends of all kinds and now Valentine was another one. (10/20
