Undine was disgusted with herself. She couldn't believe she had not only gotten herself lost but also got herself stuck in the bottom of a canyon. At least there was a small stream flowing through it so she didn't need to worry about dieing of thirst. She stuck close to the stream as she slowly walked along looking for a way out or at the very least something edible to eat. She didn't fancy dieing of hunger either.
After what felt like hours but was probably only a few minutes she spotted a small patch of course looking grass. Well it was better then nothing she decided heading over to it and eating enough to curb her hunger. Surely she should find a way out soon, it wasn't like this was a great canyon, it wasn't even that deep just too steep to walk up the sides. After her short break she continued walking along looking for an exit.
Around an hour later she spotted in the distance what looked like a part of the canyon wall that was flater then the surrounding areas, perhaps it was the way out at last. Quickening her pace she headed over but slowed as she spotted a rather large shape loitering in front of the slope. Frowning she stopped once she was close enough to get a clear view of the shape. It appeared to be a bunny stallion with a rabbit familiar at his side. A trickle of fear went down her spine. Hadn't there been reports of a vicious bunny shifter around this area.
Hesitantly she moved closer stopping when she was close enough to speak without yelling but still out of easy reach. The whole time she had been here she had seen no one until now. In her mind the sudden appearance of these bunnies was suspicious. They could well be shifters looking for quick meal. Anyone coming here after walking through the canyon would sure to be easy prey.
The stallion noticed her and his ears perked up. He started to take a step toward her but Undine yelled out coldly, "Stay where you are!" The stallion froze and looked at her in confusion but did as he was told. The familiar ducked behind his leg in fright. "What are you doing here?" Undine demanded of the stallion in a hostile tone.
He pasted on a wary smile and spoke softy trying to calm the unexpectedly hostile mare down, "We are new here and trying to learn our way around. We wandered down here by mistake."
Undine narrowed her dark blue eyes at him not believing a word he had said despite having done the very same thing herself only a short few hours ago.
Her ears went back in warning as she stepped closer a dark look plastered over her usually pleasant face. "Get out of my way. I am leaving," she practically growled as she slowly made her was towards the exit.
He quickly did as she said and moved to the side, the rabbit familiar hopping along behind him. Neither wanted to get into a fight with this strange hostile mare. He had no idea what they did to make her react like this and hoped this was not how everyone around these parts acted towards newcomers. If it was he was not going to have a very good time for the foreseeable future.
She kept an eye on him the entire time as she walked past. She didn't take her eyes off him until he was out of sight. Only then did a very important detail register in her mind. He had no pelt or any accessories that could hide a pelt. He was not a shifter and she had been extremely rude and hostile to a complete stranger for absolutely no reason at all. The entirety of her white coat appeared to glow red she blushed so hard at her disgusting behavior.
Head down she slowly walked along the path out of the canyon reflecting in shame on her resent behavior. She had made assumptions about someone before even meeting then all because of some old rumors she had heard in passing once. She had had absolutely no reason to assume the stallion was a shifter nor had any of his behavior suggested it. She had made it all up in her mind at the sight of him. She was deeply ashamed of herself and regretted how she behaved. She vowed never to make assumptions about someone she just met ever again.
