This RP is only for Kesmi and Myself. Please do not post unless you are given permission. Thanks .
Quote: We could use a break after all of that bunny fear from last month. It's also Mental Health Awareness month, which I'm a huge supporter of. So, let's do what makes YOU happy. This month we're going to RP Cottagecore. What? Cottagecore is an aesthetic that celebrates simple living, particularly in the countryside. It encourages a lifestyle rooted in traditional skills—like baking bread, gardening, and sewing your own clothes. Write a 750 word RP minimum about Cottagecore. This can be a day in the life of your soquili, it can even be a story they tell about orcs opening bookshops wink. Whatever it is, it's about the simple living; about the joy. Hakuna Matata and all that! (Can you tell, I just got back from the Disney? XD) BONUS: You can earn bonus points this month by including GARDEN GNOMES and/or MUSHROOMS in your RP. One point for each, or three for both. But you must bold them or capitalize them so I don't miss it. IF YOU FEAR GARDEN GNOMES, like for real scared, THEN YOU MAY MENTION LAWN FLAMINGOS IN THEIR PLACE.

A sleepy little herb garden began to awaken as the sun filtered through the trees. The plants were yawning, slowly opening their leaves like little fingers till they touched the warmth that nourished them. As the plants began smiling with shy little blossoms, the entire area started coming alive. Each of the stems, flowers, and beautiful creations adored the light creating a fascinating show of beauty and indulgence of aroma from bitter to sweet. Accompanying the garden, there voiced a chorus of song amongst the avian songbirds in the area. It seemed like a perfect dream as the sound of a stream trickled into the acoustics of sun and nature as it woke the area. A quaint little canine dipped in the color of Honey and white, had awoken early as her paws moved over the grass that grew freely outside the herb garden. She seemed to be preparing all sorts of things, such as gathered water, soil, and seeds, placing them in complete rows before she awakened the younger caretaker of the garden. Lady Rue as Honey called her was off on a vacation seeking out new plants for the garden. Her son Thyme, whom Honey had bonded with needed to be watched over, more closely. It wasn't that she didn't trust him to get the job done, rather he was still learning. Still, Honey was giving him some extra time since he had a guest over to help him with the garden, "Look at you two" she chuckled, "I almost don't want to awaken you. But, the garden needs attention too". So she quietly walked over to the couple sitting firmly on her haunches, "Thyme, Otulissa. Time to awaken. The garden is waiting..."Thyme's lids slowly lifted as he felt movement beside him. He had been procuring such a wonderful dream when he remembered that he had invited Otulissa to join him. Granted Honey was good at keeping things in order, but he wanted to give Otulissa a taste of living in the serenity of an herb garden. As her head rested over his back he smiled, "Otulissa. The garden needs us...", he murmured into his mate's ear with a loving nibble to her velvet soft ear. WC: 369

Her dreams were so lovely, as she was pressed up against her mate. The balmy night air was just enough to keep the bugs away and the space cool. Her neck hugged his as they slept, though the whisper that came from his lips tickled her ear. With a flick she shifted and groaned to sleep just a little bit longer. She shifted to get closer to Thyme as her head pulled away from his to rest on the cool ground. The brown and green swathed mare curled up into a little bit tighter ball. She didn't want her dreams or this rest to end. Something scampered around to the mare's side and rested small paws on her nose. "Will you wake up sleepy, the day is starting and you're going to miss it." Squeaked a small mouse as it smacked the mare's nose with its small paws. While she didn't really feel the slapping on her nose, the paws much too small that it felt more like a butterfly's wing. Blue eyes fluttered open as she looked down at a brown and green marked mouse that was her bond familiar, "Alright, alright, I'm up." She chuckled shifting again to stretch her legs. They had small cramps from laying in one position all night. "Garden... Oh right, the garden!" she remembered, faintly the words that Thyme had whispered to her while she was still dreaming. With that thought in mind, Otulissa leaped to her hooves, knocking the small mouse backwards and a few feet away. She glanced down towards where it had landed and giggles a little. "Sorry about that Mint, I got a little excited." She blushed a little before looking towards her mate. Though the mouse was sure it was far more than 'just' excitement. [[ WC: 297 ]]

Honey noted the mouse familiar reacting with a smile as she pondered quietly, "More the merrier". The herb garden depended on its caretakers to nourish, tend, and oversee the beauty that supplied many different remedies and tasty treats. If it weren't tended properly, the plants would perish. Honey couldn't let such a travesty ever ruin Rue's dream. Honey immediately, sat in front of her diligent workers who would be tasked with their chores. "Alright," Honey spoke with a wag of her tail, "Here are your tasks..." Clearing her throat she began.. ."Thyme... you are in charge of watering the herbs". She looked at his mate, "Otulissa, you are in charge of adding new soil and rocks, if needed. Then Honey turned to the other familiar whom she missed the name, "You get to tend the Mushrooms. Make sure they are watered and fixed up as needed. No tasting though, they can make you extremely sick. Oh, if you can... Please, talk to them ". Thyme nodded heading over to to grab the first watering can, "Otulissa, I'll let you go ahead of me. That way we've covered each of the herbs and plants' needs. My mother always talks and sings to her plants, feel free if you want to." He nodded leading her to the bag of soil, "This is what you will use with the little shovel. The rocks/stones are over here", he smiled. Then he looked at Mint, "Your mushrooms are being cultivated over here. They grow pretty nice on their own, yet Mother always makes them feel special". Then he turned back to Otulissa, "Shall we begin?"Honey watched the trio move into position. The garden was vast and wild yet their growth patterns were perfected. There was even a lovely rose bush with a strange statue which she was sure would be asked about by Mint or Otulissa throughout tending the garden. WC: 315

Mint stared up at the dog that was a good sight taller then they were, rounded ears flicked at it was mentioned that they would be on Mushroom duty. "Mushrooms? Really? That sounds like a job for someone that knows them better. I could be more useful planting seeds in places that need them." Mint huffed as they looked at their own hand like paws. Were they really going to take orders from a canine? Otulissa stared down towards the canine familiar as they doled out orders. Tilting her head to one side, she didn't know what it meant to tend a garden. She had come here to learn, but these... Chores as they were sounded... Well she wasn't too sure, she was to add soil or small stones? Turning her gaze towards her mate she followed him towards where the soil was kept. "Alright, I am just not too sure about all this... Does singing or talking to the plants really help them grow?" She asked curiously. Picking up the makeshift shovel, Otulissa took a scoop of soil and started on down the line of plants, dropping small portions of the stuff here and there on the plants that needed it. As she worked, she paused to see what Mint was up to. She looked towards the mushrooms as Mint stares at them grumpily. It was there that she noticed something strange. "Thyme, what is that near the mushrooms?"[[ WC: 244 ]]

Honey stood with her tail curved upward as she picked up the bags of seeds. placing them next to the mint, "Oh you are completely right. Once you tend the mushrooms. Here are the different seeds that need planting in the prepped area. I'm sure that you'll figure out which is which. Your little paws will be perfect for burying them safely". If there was one thing Honey was intolerable to, it was a lazy attitude, Rue wouldn't like another in her paradise if they weren't even going to try. Honey immediately began digging small plots that would house the seeds Mint would plant after the mushrooms were tended. Once she had placed plots in a line, Honey then walked over to Mint, "Of course. They love the attention and adoration. Rue firmly believes that a garden grows only how it is treated". The golden-hued canine then heard the question she was waiting for about that odd little statue. Honey simply chuckled letting Thyme take over that banter. Thyme waited as Otlissa laid new soil stones that were placed lovingly around the plants Ears perking, he responded to Otulissa about the statue of a Garden Gnome. The creation was a bit confusing to newcomers so, Rue kept it there to keep the mushrooms company. "That statue is a Garden Gnome, Mint. They represent Protection, Good luck, and Abundance, It's also rumored when we sleep, the Garden Gnome takes care of the plants. Well, that's what Mother has told my siblings and me. Maybe, that's why the garden seems tended to before we awake?" He smiled looking at the odd little creation with the long beard adorned with a red pointed hat. Honey chuckled, "Rue named him Diddledee. Since he has such a cute personality in his appearance. Diddledee sometimes even moves to different areas of the Herb Garden. Perhaps, Mint, you should respect him, as he's always watching over the garden".WC: 321

Mint swished her whiskers as seeds were dropped beside her. Turning her attention back towards the mushrooms she glared at them. If singing and talking to them made then grow better, then glaring would make them go away. She was often a sassy mouse, but being given strict direction wasn't something she casually cared for. Her thin tail flicked behind her as she turned away from the fungus. "Those are tended well enough.." She pulled at the seed pouches and started towards the area that was being prepared for the seeds. Otulissa caught sight of Mint Chip as the mouse clearly didn't want to deal with the mushrooms. Shaking her head she looked back towards Thyme as he spoke of the strange statue like things that were placed near the mushrooms. Garden Gnomes? She pondered as she sprinkled a few small stones around another plant moving down the line. In the back of her mind she thought of doing some singing, but it was a little hard with a shovel like thing in her mouth. Made speaking tangible words a little more complicated. "Diddledee? That's a rather odd name, but I suppose it does fit him." Otulissa said as she looked towards Honey, Continuing on with her task, Otulissa found herself at least humming as she worked, She wasn't sure if it really counted as singing. She could only hope that Mint wouldn't neglect the mushrooms, but it was clear that the mouse wasn't pleased to be weeding the fungus. Perhaps there was something behind the reason why she didn't want to go near them? [[ WC: 265 ]]

Thyme continued watering the plants, letting the water seep deep into the dirt. Thyme smiled contentedly, watching his mate continue to add fresh soil and rocks. She was his world learning the simple care of the Herb Garden. As he watered his final herb he paused to look at the Garden Gnome. Perhaps it was a foolish story that his mother told her sons, but he somehow wanted to believe there was a guardian of the garden. Since he was a foal, Thyme greeted the little statue ever since he had met it as his mother requested he always does. Moving away from Otulissa, he walked over to the statue lowering his head in respect, "Thank you Diddledee for watching over Mother's garden. We are thankful that you tend the garden in our absence and rest". Once Thyme completed his thankful respect, he returned to Otulissa's side. Honey still watched Mint with a diligent attitude. Mint seemed uninterested in the herb garden. The mushrooms would tend themselves as long as they grew in the area Rue had grown them. Not too much sun, yet not too much darkness either for growing these strange creations. As Mint gathered the seeds, Honey continued digging each hole with a strange stick that was great for making little seed niches. "These are ready Mint. Thyme would you mind watering them after Mint plants the seeds and covers them?"Thyme nodded, "The Garden is finished other than the new plots that need to be planted. Diddledee will tend the mushrooms with some TLC later". Celendria's two-legger friend had been in to grab some herbs, later returning with some treats. She had placed them near the garden's entrance for the dedicated workers. Thyme took a moment to teach Otulissa about his namesake and his siblings in the form of the herbs and plants they were tending. He wasn't sure if the others saw Tirranna, but he knew they'd have a great treat for a job well done. WC: 331

Both Otulissa and Mint were still unsure of this gnome, but they weren't going to step on the hooves/paws of those that lived with the garden. Otulissa herself had been a wanderer after her parents split off. Not her father's desire, but seemed her mother suddenly hated them for some odd reason. Shaking her head, Otulissa put away her things as it was said that the garden was finished besides the plots that were still to be planted. Mint on the other hand was moving through the readied areas dropping seeds into the plots. Her tail flicking soil over the seeds that were ready to be watered. After the seeds were planted, she stopped and looked back at what was done. She wondered if this sort of thing was done every day or season, as it stood. She wasn't going to ask at this time. That was something to ask in the future. [[ WC: 154 ]]

Thyme watched as his mate and her familiar worked hard till the garden was refreshed with newness. He moved in watering the excess including the new plots. Soon little anxious sprouts and curious buds would stretch upward to the sky drinking in everything they needed. Diddledee had an impact on both Otulissa and Mint. Thyme smiled and then looked over at Honey, preoccupied with her snack. As the stallion watered the last of the plots, he pondered if Otulissa and Mint would help him if tasked with this responsibility again. He wondered when his children would follow in his footsteps, learning about Diddledee and his secret adventures within the herb garden. For now, Thyme helped Mint and Otulissa clean up from their chores. He knew she had other things to take care of right now.
As the love of his life prepared to depart, Thyme filtered in some of Tirranna's snacks she had left for them. Once Otulissa rested, she'd find the snacks filled with delicious herbs for her and Mint. Living in a garden filled with herbs was a blessing that deserved responsibility. Even after hard work and dedication, it was a Cottagecore life, the stallion would never give up for anything. As he watched them depart after a devoted nuzzle and a solemn goodbye, Thyme headed over to enjoy his reward as he gazed upward at a lovely songbird. The day had certainly been fun, now it was time for a well-deserved rest.
