 Asali happily munched and drank on all the food and beverages that had been presented to the party guests. All manner of fruits, veggies, breads, sweets, and a stunning variety of drink. There was something for everyone here. He was also a bit oblivious to who all was around; he was here for the food, not the company. Eagerly he popped another morsel into his mouth, chomping loudly. "So good, he mumbled, crumbs falling to the floor. "This only happens a few times a year. I gotta make the most of it while I can." He looked around to see if anyone was watching then dunked his face into a bowl of punch and started guzzling it. .

.117 words ======================= Kovaltio had been observing Asali from across the room, watching in amazement as he was able to put away bowl after bowl of food. But when he saw him plunge his head into a punch bowl, well, he thought maybe he should go over and say something. He couldn't help but stifle a laugh though; it WAS pretty funny. He quickly trotted over, hoping he'd get there before anyone else did. "Um....Asali?" he said tentatively. "I um...don't think you should be doing that...for a few reasons..." He anxiously waited for his reply. .

Jingles the balloon pony trotted into the party. Jingles observed the boisterous crowd and wondered what the fuss was about. She has never been to such an event before, and ponies and familiars were a different kind of loud… a kind of loud she had never experienced in one spot. Strange… she thought, as she made her way over to the refreshments. I am thirsty… she pondered as she glanced over at a strangely-colored drink. That’s not what I think it is, is it? She sniffed the yellow-colored beverage and cringed. Well, no. It’s not that. But it smells weird. Noticing that there were only strangely-colored beverages around, she decided to drink one out of desperation. Well… nothing here can kill me, right? Might as well… Bombs away! Jingles exclaimed as she began to drink. Mm, not too bad, she muttered to herself, and she began to feel a little light-headed. I’m a, feeling a little bit funny, now. What the heck is going on? Asali jerked up from his gleeful chugging at hearing Kovaltio. "Pft, and why not?" he asked, a bit miffed that he dare call him out. Though his attitude quickly softened. He felt...a bit odd. Kinda light-headed and a little....happy go lucky? "This is weird..." he said aloud. He held up one of his paws and examined it, oblivious not only to the puzzled look from Kovaltio, but also that Jingles was nearby. .

.72 words ======================= Kovaltio leaned in a little closer to Asali, seeing his strange behavior. Well, strange by Asali standards anyway; he was a little out there to begin with. "Ummm...Asali...are you alright? he asked with a bit of concern in his voice. Just then, he noticed Jingles at one of the other tables. A bit reluctantly, he walked away from Asali for a moment and walked over to Jingles to see if they were ok. "Jingles....is everything fine over here? You're not looking quite right at the moment.." He peered intently, trying to figure out what was happening. He took note of the drink next to her, but it was different than Asali's. "Surely it can't be these, right? They seem to be different..." .

Jingles felt the world spinning around her. Woooow! What is going on here… then suddenly, she noticed Kovalito. Hi, friend! How are you doing? I don’t know why everyone here is so loud and happy, but I’m getting loud and happy, too…. I think… I don’t know, I feel strange! Is that Asali? How are they doing? How long have you guys been here? Jingles’ vision started blurring. Ok, ah, I think I need some fresh air? Maybe? Can you help me get out of here, Kovalito? I think I need some space away from all these folks. I need to breathe. Kovaltio just stared a moment at Jingles in astonished bewilderment. Yes, she was always a bit hyper and out there and happy go lucky but this? This was a whole different level. He wasn't sure what to do. He didn't understand what exactly was going on with his friends. Or anyone around for that matter. This wasn't supposed to be some sort of crazy party. But everyone was sure acting like it.... "Yeah...yeah Jingles. Just...just hold on a second, ok?" He gently but firmly sat her down a safe distance from the food table. "Just sit here and DON'T MOVE. I mean it." He then turned his attention over to his other friend, who predictably was still shoving hoof fulls of food in his mouth. "Oh for crying out loud...." he said in exasperation as he ran quickly over. "Will you stop eating and come with me?!" he exclaimed. .

It's a party; go have some fun of your own and leave me alone." he grumbled at him before snatching some more food and bolting to another table. .

"Dangit Asali!" Kovaltio shouted at his friend. He was in no mood for these shenanigans, and all he wanted to do was help his friends. And Asali was making it really difficult. Kovaltio glanced back over at Jingles to make sure SHE was still where he put her....and she wasn't. "Oh for crying out loud!!!" He began to frantically search for her. After a few minutes he discovered her hopping around in circles, her balloons flying outwards and slapping other ponies in the face. "JINGLES! I told you to sit and stay there!" Frustrated he stormed over and grabbed her, pulling her outside. Asali would just have to wait. He situated her under a tree far from the event and waited for her to start to return at least a bit to normal before heading back in to get his belligerent friend.
Upon entering, by this point being thoroughly convinced something was wrong with these drinks, he began to topple the bowls over in aggravation. He knew he would catch the ire of the others, but dangit, someone need to step up and do something, so it might as well be him. No one else seemed to have a lick of sense at the moment. .

Asali, seeing his friend trashing the punch bowls, started stomping his feet like a child. "What are you doing?! You're ruining everyone's fun!" he exclaimed. .

.25 words ======================= Kovaltio, thoroughly annoyed at this point, jabbed his spiny should into Asali. "No I'm not! There's something very wrong with this stuff! Don't you see how you and everyone else is acting?! Now come on, we're leaving!" Forcefully he grabbed him and started to drag him outside. He was concerned about the other ponies at the party, but they'd start to come 'round shortly. His friends were his priority. .

Asali opened his eyes to see Kovaltio standing over him, and Jingles sprawled out on the ground next to him. He struggled to focus and figure out what had happened. He grumpily poked a snoring Jingles, trying to get her to stop. He then looked up at Kovaltio and asked, "Um...what the heck is going on?" .

He motioned to where the party was before replying, "Let's just say next year, someone needs to make sure that punch didn't go bad before they decide to serve it to unwitting ponies." There, where the party had taken place, every pony in sight was laying down, some in some very contortionist ways, fast asleep. "It's one heck of a story though." he said with a laugh. .
