((This is a semi-ORP, meaning that it is open to ANY land-based Soqs or familiars. We already have our villain, though, so please do not include adult Soq unless you've talked to at least one of the people in this thread about it first! Thank you! heart Don't wait for permission to add any foal(s) you want, though, feel free to just toss them in and I'll add them to this post!))
Cert requestThere weren't really any rules, so to speak, to the game they were playing. It was somewhere between tag, chase, and hide & seek - mostly it was just a lot of running around, because the foals had nothing but energy to expend, and, after promising that they wouldn't wander away or run too far, with huge reassuring innocent grins, they'd been left on their own.
This was, everyone involved would eventually come to agree, something akin to a mistake.
But that was later. For now, it was just fun. Helio was chasing his friends around, or getting chased, and he couldn't stop laughing as he did so. They had, naturally, already tumbled out of the area the adults had marked for them, but none of them had realized - or at least, Helio hadn't, beyond noting his excitement upon seeing trees and stones that were different than the ones he saw every day all the time.
"Betcha can't catch me!" Heli shouted over his shoulder as he took off at a gallop, to whoever it was whose turn it was to be 'it'. "Come and get me!"

Hesperios took off after his newfound friend through the trees and woods, gaining on him with every beat of his hooves. This is where he felt at home, in the woods, running as fast as his new legs could carry him. His siblings all had gotten wings, taking after his parents while Hesperios was stuck on the ground. But what made him better was his knack for getting around on the ground with ease and poise. He had a little more time running around and navigating the ground than his siblings and that made him travel to find friends.
"Don't you worry, I'm gaining on you." He shouted out to his new friend. Hesperios had not really caught the name of the other young colt as he was just traveling and happened to see others playing. Before he knew it, he was 'it' and chasing others.
Curiosity getting the best of Hesperios, he took off after, knowing he would not be 'it' for too long. While running, taking in minimum details of the surroundings, he had not yet realized the trees and brush were taking on a new form of life. One that he was not familiar with. With one last burst of energy, he jumped over a small stick to create a shortcut before tagging the colt with a small giggle.
"Gotcha!"
With deep breaths, he let himself gait off a few strides away before turning to look at the other colt. "Before we run again, my name is Hesperios, but you can call me Perio!" He wanted to make a formal introduction before he took off again, plus it would give him time to catch his breath. Scanning the ground, he saw an easy escape if the colt went to chase him again.

The next thing Helio knew, he was on the ground, rolling in a tangle of gangly limbs and hooves with his new best friend. The world was still upside down for Helio when his new friend - Perio - clambered off him and introduced himself, but he righted himself quickly and shook himself free of some of the dirt and grass that had gotten literally all over him and blew a tuft of his hair out of his eyes.
"I'm Helio!" Helio said with a big smile. They were both panting, and this was the most fun Helio had maybe ever had in his life (though, to be fair, every time he had fun he thought it was the most fun he'd ever had in his life, so maybe that wasn't entirely accurate). As he was catching his breath, he paused to glance around them, his ears pricking at the suddenly unfamiliar noises echoing around them.
"Um...are you from here?" Helio asked, trying to keep his voice casual, because he couldn't let his new best friend think he was scared or anything, because he totally wasn't. "Or are you a Brave Adventurer like me?"

Watching the foal get up in a tangle of mess and brush himself off was exciting. Perio really had not gotten to play with other boys before as his siblings were girls. It was nice getting to romp around without the threat of being told he was 'too much' or 'too rough'. Watching Helio's eyes dart around to take in the surroundings, he also noticed the change of scenery. The noises and smells were different than he remembered. Straightening himself, he tried to speak with assurance that they had just wandered into a bad spot.
"Hey Helio, nice to meet you!" Taking a few steps toward the colt not only to show that it was okay but also give Perio some assurance that they would stick together in this darker part of the forest.
"I am not from.. these parts. I don't really know where...we are." When he heard the next question come out of Helio's mouth, Perio perked up a bit. He could be part of a group now that traveled around, protecting others, and finding new spots and friends. "OOoo, I would like to be a Brave Adventurer. Sounds like it would be fun."
Painfully clear that Perio had no idea what a Brave Adventurer was until this moment, but he was excited to get to hang out longer with his new friend.
"Can you teach me to be a Brave Adventurer?" Taking a few more steps towards the colt, assuming the game of tag was over, he looked around his surroundings. He had to show this colt he could be brave so that he could join the club.

"Hm, I don't know..." Helio said, making a show of surveying the other colt - because he couldn't be too eager, even though he really wanted to have a fellow Brave Adventurer. His sister so didn't count.
Helio trotted around in a loose circle around the other boy, playing at giving him a once-over. "What's the bravest thing you've ever done ever?" Helio asked, doing his best to sound like he was interviewing him, and not like he was hungry for a cool story.
As he walked that circle, he did also give the forest around them a once-over. Was that a shadow that moved on its own? No, that must have been a cloud or a big bird or something. It was fine. Just because neither of them knew where they were or exactly how to get back to more familiar land didn't mean they were lost.
And anyway. They were Brave Adventurers now! They were together! With a defiant flip of his hair, he reminded himself that there was nothing to be scared of. Absolutely nothing.

Letting the other colt survey him, he glanced around. Where did I end up? Hopefully, his family would not be too worried about him. He was the brave out being the only colt with his two sisters so he knew he had to be the tough one to protect them. Pondering over the question that Helio asked, he could only think of one answer.
"I have two sisters, so having to be the protector of them, well... that's pretty brave I think." Kicking his hooves, he stared at the colt to show that he was determined to make a good, no, a great impression. Watching, he decided to add something else. Whether it was true or not, well that was up to him to decide.
"Or one time, my one sister got caught in the vines with teeth. I dived in, trying to break her free, and got caught as well."
Seeing that the other colt had looked away for a faint second, Perio let his eyes follow his new friends. Had he seen something? Was there something lurking away in the shadows? Maybe his new friend set something up to scare him to ensure he was brave. Whatever the case was, Perio looked back and stood tall, bracing for whatever was coming his way.
"So.... did I make it yet?"

" Well frankly I think you are both brave little ones to charge so fearlessly into my woods." The voice that spoke from the depth of the shadows was smooth and relaxed, almost motherly in tone. Before the two colts could become too panicked the white and gold mare made her way into the light. To two younglings who knew no better, she likely didn't seem a threat not with her brilliantly white coat and unicorn tail. Sure her feathers were crimson where her wings were folded closed against her spine but maybe she was a wind'corn? Adour's lavender eyes were soft and amused as she looked over the two colts, " Where are your mothers little ones? Don't you know it can be dangerous to wander off from your caretaker?" (CWC:130)

"You have two sisters?" Helio asked incredulously - he didn't know having more than one sibling was even possible, and then for that sibling not even to be a boy? Helio wrinkled his nose. One sister was bad enough, if you asked Helio. "I only have one and that's plenty." He shook his head - girls were so lame. Definitely not allowed in the Brave Adventurer's Club. No, that was Boys Only, and he didn't care what his mama would say about it (and he knew she would say something).
He was just opening his mouth to congratulate Perio on being the first official member of the Brave Adventurer's Club when a voice emerged from the woods and nearly startled Helio straight up into the air.
He did jump, but he quickly tried to regain his cool - the key word being tried - as he turned to face the owner of the voice.
"Our--our moms are--are really close," Helio lied quickly, knowing that he couldn't very well tell this stranger lady that they had absolutely no idea where they were or in fact how far away their mothers were, actually. Even if she was a Unicorn and his mama said Unicorns were good guys - but she didn't have a horn, so maybe she was only partially a good guy.
"We're just, um, exploring. Because we're--" Helio paused to straighten himself up, trying to make himself look bigger, "--the founding members of the Brave Adventurer's Club. So we're adventuring!" Yeah, that was good - they were here for a reason! On purpose! Definitely not accidentally lost in the middle of nowhere.

Listening to Helio talk about his siblings made him giddy. It was nice to meet another colt who understood the perils of having sisters to grow up with and while his parents keep saying that he will become protective of them in the future, now, he could care less. (Or at least that's what he thought)
Perio did his best not to jump, but he could not even stand still when a voice whisked past his ears. Following the direction that his ears swiveled towards, he perked up and let his tail hold high to show that he was taken aback. Slowly letting the muscles in his body relax, his tail slowly let down and his neck slowly unhinged while he watched the grown mare come out of the shadows. She did not seem to be one that he should worry about but his parents had advised them to always be wary.
Blowing how a quick snort to let his body relax he looked over the mare, trying to take details in. Beautiful wings. Light colors. Long beautiful mane. She did not seem to be a threat but listening to Helio talk first, Perio did his best to chime in quickly. "Yes, our moms are close, we were.... just playing around." Quickly watching and copying, he stood up strong too. He was also now, with glee, a member of the Brave Adventures Club, so he had to follow his new leader. "Yes... we were juust adventuring... we just thought this was a good place to..... start?" Looking around he noticed how grim it did look around them. Maybe they had wandered somewhere unwanted.
