A feline as black as the night padded on soft paws down the path. It was one that she was well familiar with. At the end of it, there was the best view of the valley if she did say so herself. Never mind that the path went along the edge of a cliff to get there. It was absolutely worth the hike to get up there and watch the sunset or sunrise. In this case, it would be a sunset.
Unknown to her, the last storm that had rolled through the area had undermined part of the cliff under the path. It only needed a small weight to finish de-stabling it. That weight just happened to be the feral form of an unsuspecting shifter. Void heard the the ground crack, and felt as the path under her paws started to give way. Fear raced up her spine as she tried to leap to safety. Only to have that section also collapse under her claws. Down she rolled with yowl. Rocks and clumps of dirt crashing into her body.
Void tried to dig her claws into the cliff knowing if she went off the edge it was all over. Not even her nine lives could save her from this! Try as she might, her claws found no purchase. Just loose gravel and dirt all rolling together. Well this is it, she thought as she felt herself flung into open air. After that she didn't have a though as a rock hit her in the skull and everything went black.
