It was an absolutely beautiful day - the sun was shining, the birds were singing, the fish were flopping, and Koa Ahi was...restless. Bored was too strong a word, but he felt the wind in his hair and his tail calling him to wander.
And who was he to ignore the wind? So a-wandering he went, letting his hooves drift through the gently crashing waves as they hit the sand. The water was cool, and he thought for a few moments about diving in, playing with his scaley brethren beneath the water, but then something caught his eye, down the beach.
It was another Soquili, dark in color, but with huge wings. Ginormous wings. Koa's eyebrows raised slightly - usually winged Soquili weren't around the water - they were around the sky. Especially when it wasn't even fresh water; it wasn't like they were stopping to refresh themselves, right? So he was curious, he had to admit, and he let himself increase his speed just a little bit, to see if this stranger was friend or foe or something else entirely.
"Morning!" Koa called, because he had never met someone that didn't at least start out on the right hoof with him. Maybe it would turn out that this was a foe or something else, but until he determined otherwise, Koa Ahi assumed that pretty much everyone fell into the 'friend' category, and - well, he was still alive, so it couldn't have been that bad a way to approach the world, right?
"Everything alright, stranger? Are you lost, or looking for something?"

Crown Prince Lionel was a fugative on the run. He splashed out of the shallows and shook his wings. They would be far too wet for him to escape by flying for far too long. He had made a break from his herd for some quality time alone. Lionel knew that one of the members was right on his tail though. If he were caught, he'd be dragged back to his studies or worst. He needed to find a place to hide. The stallion looked around, hoping to find a cave or something on this part of the beach where he'd landed. He flicked his tail in surprise as another kelpi of brilliant colors of stripes approached him and called out. Lionel blinked in surprised for a moment. Either from the shockingly bright colors, or being approached first, he wasn't sure. Then a shinning idea flashed in his mind. "No! It's not alright. Please hide me! If anyone comes out of the water asking about me say you haven't seen me." He eyes begged this other stallion to help him escape his fate. WC: 183

Koa's eyes widened in alarm as his new friend begged for his help. He glanced briefly at his wings again - no, too wet. If someone was after him, he couldn't take to the sky to avoid them.
This was an emergency. Koa Ahi did not exactly do great in an emergency, but he had to give it his best shot. Something about putting out a fire first and asking questions second, or something like that?
"Uh, uh, uh," Koa Ahi said. "Okay! Follow me!" He glanced nervously at the sea and then took off in a line back the way he'd come, veering slightly away from the shoreline as he did. He had no idea what was after the other stallion, but he was sure that if it was coming from the ocean, they'd want to get as far away from the water as possible.
"Just because you can't fly right now," Koa called behind him, just hoping that the stranger was following in his tracks as he ran, "doesn't mean we can't use height to our advantage!"
As they rounded the bend of the beach, Koa's temporary 'home' came into view, by way of a stony cliff that jutted out over the ocean. It was a somewhat steep climb, but there was a cave at the top of the cliff, and it had been a good home for Koa lately - he could see the sunrise, and knew that his back wasn't likely to become dinner for a nearby mountain lion while he slept, with three of the four sides protected from the elements and enemies.
He hadn't been planning on sharing it with anyone, but--well, this was an emergency, and exceptions had to be made.
