It had been quite near an hour since anything had really been done. David Talbot sat restless at the old decorative wooden desk, papers laying helpless and disregarded in heaps upon the surface. He had made just enough space to set one down and sign it if need be, though this small area had recently suffered an avalanche. His mind was wandering aimlessly through random thoughts, swimming lazily until it came upon a subject he liked. It wasn't easy running the Talamasca. Why, he was so very mentally exhausted that spinning his chair, tapping his pen against the desk, and even moving to go sit out on the balcony were simply too much for him. So instead he sat calm in the leather office chair, a cigarette pressed between his lips and every few moments caught between his fingers. "Jillian..." he began softly as his finger pressed the first button on the intercom, "Are there any documents in dire need of my signature?" The reply was no and David took but a split second to stand and gather the papers all up, stacking them atop each other on the little vacant space left on the nearest bookshelf. Truth be told, he was overworked, exhausted, and ultimately just worried. Like any good Talamascan, he had taken measures to see that anything strange that might happen to or around Antha Mayfair was reported straight to him and it was. So now he was mentally quite preoccupied and a bit sick. He could almost hear the lunatic girl's maniac laughter as she stacked his papers all together into one fragile tower and stood watching him, daring him to move and risk its collapse. They never did, of course, but it was still a time of minor crisis for David. ...come to think of it, he couldn't remember why he tolerated her anyways.

With his usual airy ease David removed the pack from the inner pocket of his coat and thrust it gently down on the desk before Grave. "They're a nifty little tool to help soothe the nerves, don't you think?" He flashed a quick smile, the kind that had earned him the nickname big brother among some of the younger members. "Pull up a chair. It makes me feel just awful to see my guest standing there." There was a silent moment in which David took a deep drag of his cigarette before crushing it in the glass ashtray. "And, for the record, we might not have found you if it weren't for a certain Mayfair princess. Apparently you upset her by sleeping in the Mayfair cemetery, as it can most easily be described." He paused, worrying again about her well-being. If there was one thing Antha Mayfair could do, the morbid brat, it was make him worry. "She decided to complain to me for one reason or another. That's how we came upon you." He set his feet down on the floor, took a moment to fix his pale green tie, and plucked a picture frame from the corner of his desk and sat it delicately down to face Grave. Crowded into the frame were four people, David himself included. "See the red-haired girl with the big green eyes? That would be her." Once he had pointed her out, he pushed it back to the corner and leaned right back into his chair, one leg propped upon his knee and his hands folded upon his stomach. As he spoke, the great wooden doors to the office crept open and a pale-skinned boy with flaming red hair slipped inside and took a chair opposite David so as to glare at him over the desk.

Jonas trudged up to the dark, stone building, head hung wearily. He reached the steps and took them slowly, but two, three at the time, effortlessly gliding over them. With just as little effort, he wrenched the heavy door open a crack and slid inside. A few more flights of stairs, two corridors heading west and there it was; his bed beconed. Jonas stripped his shirt away, pulled his boots and wrestled his pants off, then, with no further ado, he fell to his bed, asleep before he toughed the hard, lumpy surface.
Then it happened. His alarm clock went off, buzzing, as if screaming "not in this lifetime, budddy!", and robbing him of anyfurther rest. His eyes opened slowly, and he let out a small moan; Jonas almost cried. So he lifted his weary body from the bed and grabbed a towel. He would take a shower. On the way there one of his aquaintences waved a friendly hello, and Jonas nearly removed that cheerily waving appendage.
Coming out of the shower he felt slightly rejuvianted, but not enough to make any difference. But atleast he was clean, he would later remind himself. Arriving at his room, Jonas rummaged about for a fresh pair of jeans; the pair he had recently occupied was disgusting, coated in several layers of mud, sweat, beer and vomit. Now donning a soft pair of old jeans, he pulled a thick grey sweater over his head and trudged down to the office wing.
Jonas needed coffee.

David gave a vague wave of his hand, "Don't worry about it. Antha gets a little overprotective of her ancestors and their tombs, as she well should being the Designee of the Legacy. I doubt she'll even remember you should she run into you again." As David spoke, Singe pulled his legs up into his chair and folded them, his hands grasping his ankles in impatience. "Would you quit worrying!" he snapped viciously at his overseer once he was finished speaking, "You're giving me a headache! You act like she's a little child who can't take care of herself!" Several moments passed where the boy ranted and David, trying desperately to grasp some peace, apologized repeatedly. Once it was all over, David turned his apologies to Grave for Singe's behavior while he sat silently glaring. "There are several reasons he was named Singe," David explained calmly, finally leaning back in his chair again as if just now able to relax, "There are his strong abilities in pyrokinesis, his flame red hair, and his fiery, destructive personality." He laughed a moment to himself, but was stopped abruptly by Singe's sharp glare. "At any rate, down to business. As far as individual people go, the Talamasca doesn't have any set system for recording information. See this button here?" he asked, pointing to the third button on the intercom, "Once it's pressed, this intercom will record anything said in here. The subject can take us through any aspects of their life that they consider important and it'll be recorded to be written down and compiled into a file later." He gave another gentle smile meant to ease any nerves that were still bothering Grave. "So, would you like to help us with your file? I would be very grateful if you would." Meanwhile, Singe sat scribbling pointlessly away on a piece of copy paper with one of David's silver fountain pens that had been sitting in a little silver holder with two others.

A young man--or perhaps an older boy--approached the Talamasca base. He cut an intriguing figure to be seen on such a rural path--a boy of sixteen, half-an-inch over the average height, long-legged and built slenderly. His eyes were that peculiar shade halfway between green and golden-brown, with little dark mossy roots twining around the pupil, and his lips, a perfect cupid's bow, were set against skin so fair as to be alabaster. His cheekbones were high, straight brown hair well-cut to frame that curiously pretty face, and he walked with a graceful sort of confidence that comes from good breeding. The boy wore a collared white shirt, of a good cut and excellent quality fabric, beneath a well-tailored black vest and trousers. His shoes were Berluti originals; black, exquisitely simple, and quite comfortable despite their high-class appearance. Rynn Calais entered through the double doors of the Talamasca base as if he belonged there, and went straight to the desk. "Excuse me," he said gently, addressing the receptionist. "Is a Mr. David Talbot available at the moment?"
