Maybe you should use the term 'Dominant' rather than 'superior'.
Many women enjoy being in the presence of dominant men, but not to your extent.

you still need to define it.

abuse is when you're hurting the person AGAINST their will.
only against.
a baby doesn't choose to get their ears pierced or a part of their d**k cut off.
that should be common sense right there.

I honestly don't see the point of hypothetical questions that wouldn't ever happen though, so im just enjoying the lulz.

but seriously, ill have to remake this thread since you guys messed it up from what it was suppose to be.

None of that applies to starving a kid, amirite?

a hypothetical kid lol so, no. it wouldn't apply to a non existent thing.

A hypothetical kid, sure.
But you've said that this is what would happen if you had a girl, and that it's okay because you don't consider it abuse. This goes against your definition there.

It's hypothetical because my husband and I can't have anymore kids. Literally. He's not able to anymore.
:]
and no, abuse is against the kids will. they can get food if they want. i dont need to bath them, feed them, etc.

The child getting chunks 'of his d**k cut off' isn't real either, is he?

No, because being starved doesn't give you pain. No, that girl wouldn't rather have food. She wouldn't be in pain that you would be inflicting upon her[/sarcasm]

By the way, I go by the legal definition of abuse.

Quote:
abuse definition - legal

v
To mistreat or neglect a person, particularly as to one for whom the actor has special responsibility by virtue of a relationship, e.g., spouse, child, elderly parent, or one for whom the actor has undertaken a duty of care, e.g., nurse-patient;

v
to use an object in an illegal or unreasonable manner.

n
The mental or physical mistreatment of a person, frequently resulting in serious emotional, mental, physical, and/or sexual injury.
child abuse

1. The intentional or neglectful abuse, which includes sexual mistreatment, inflicted on a child.
2. A parent or caregiverÂ’s intentional or neglectful act or failure to act that results in a childÂ’s abuse, exploitation, or death.
3. An act or failure to act that results in a possibility of immediate and serious harm to a child. See also battered person syndrome and child neglect.

by legal definition- 99.9% of dogs have been abused
XD

i dont know why we're still talking about a non existent person though?

ohh wait wait!
spanking a child even, or grounding them is abuse- since you are mistreating them.
gosh.. the legal system needs to get in and arrest these people for spanking their kids. that's horrid

zeph-yup.

Then I would assume you have a scientific explanation for this.

EDIT:
@Sanju: I love cats. <3
We had a cat kind of like that for a while, but she died last year. crying

D: Ohno.

I want a cat. But I'm not allowed to have one in this house.
stare

Aww. I hope you'll be able to get one someday.

We have a fish... my stepmom doesn't like pets that move freely around the house, or even ones in cages. Fish was the only thing we were allowed. :V

I'm totally getting one when I move out. And if she comes to visit I'll give the kitty it's own room for the duration. :>

D:

Tell me when she comes to visit. I'd be willing to watch the cat for you during that time. XD

But I'm in Toronto... D:

Silence and Sorrow

PostPosted: Mon Mar 15, 2010 2:14 pm
I think I will speak now. There is a fine line between discipline and abuse. There is a line between dominance and abuse. There is yet another line between Dominance and superiority.

No offense, Amarah, but I think you are more than a little mixed up.

You say your husband is superior to you. I disagree. A man that depends on his wife to follow every order is in no way superior. There has to be balance. With a Dominant and submissive there is balance. You seem to lack the knowledge of where that line is. If he is in charge and you willingly and gladly submit, then you are, by definition, a submissive and he would be your Dominant. (Note: slave/Master can also apply depending on how much power the one in charge is given.)

As for abuse, I agree that it is something done against the will of another, but you leave out vital aspects of it. An infant may not choose what happens to its body, but then the infant can also not fend for itself if neglected which is also abuse. (The comment on starving a child fits here. That is Neglect because a young child WILL starve if not taken care of. It is incapable of fending for itself at a young age.)

Discipline and abuse are very close together, but it depends on how it is used before the line is crossed. Spanking a child is considered discipline because, if a good parent does it, the child knows what it did that was wrong and why it was wrong. Grounding is nowhere near considered abuse. It is strictly discipline in a very mild form.

Now I am through for this section.
