"Keep running - go to the side!" Wayne commanded, watching as Spike flew backward through the air before catching itself quite well. He started the match with a grin but by now his face was fierce with concentration.

Rapid Spin started. Wayne had an idea.

"Back off, watch the angle of the spin," he yelled and Hitmonlee put a steady distance between himself and Spike, "Now, jump - hit it in the oncoming direction! Rolling Kick!"

Hitmonlee jumped up, seeking the opening in the Rapid Spin technique. He couldn't attack from the sides because of the Ground type's claws but above and below were unprotected. By jumping up, he could aim inside Spike's guard.

His foot shot out, aiming for Spike's head. Because of the direction he was attacking in, Hitmonlee was striking against the grain; Spike's spin would send it into Hitmonlee's foot and add to the power. The Fight type was using Spike's own momentum against it. Hitmonlee was also extending his legs with force, the same way he attacked last time.

Assuming the strike connects, Spike will be stopped dead in his tracks by a powerful blow to the skull and Hitmonlee will kick off and backflip into the air.

Salieri brought her pokedex out once more, this time to check out the pokemon that N had just released in front of her. “A Purrloin? That doesn’t look too tough,” she said as she snapped the dex closed to put it back into her pocket. “Alright Liuye, lets go for a Psycho Cut!”

The Pawniard spun and then slashed at the air in front of himself, and a pink energy emanated from his bladed hand, following the trail of the swipe. It cascaded off of Liuye’s hand and shot towards Purrloin in a brilliant crescent of energy.

N simply pointed towards Liuye Dao, and Purrloin charged through. The Psycho Cut made contact and then shattered like glass as Purrloin jumped overtop her opponent, cutting into his head with Scratch. The attack didn’t do much, but Liuye still felt a tiny sting.

Salieri’s jaw dropped as she took out her pokedex. “…Dark types are immune to Psychic? Huh. Good to know. Liuye, go for a Brick Break!” As Purrloin landed, Liuye turned to meet his opponent and swiped at the cat with an overhead chop.

“Dodge!” N ordered urgently, and Purrloin did just that. By jumping to the side, it barely missed the well placed chopping attack, and jumped up and over Liuye to give him another Scratch. Salieri grit her teeth. Compared to Eunmi, N seemed to know exactly what he was doing. It was as if the pokemon was an extension of his will.

“Don’t let him get away!”

Liuye chopped downwards again, but this time he stopped midway and spun. As Purrloin had anticipated the overhead chop once more, it had dodged to the side again. So this time, it had jumped right into Liuye’s attack. The back of Liuye’s bladed hand smacked into Purrloin with a Brick Break, and the cat was knocked onto the ground.

“Stop,” N commanded as Purrloin got up, ready to fight some more. Salieri was now more confused than ever as N walked over to his pokemon, healing it with a potion. She returned Liuye Dao to his pokeball, thanking him for a job well done as she walked to N.
“Why did you stop the fight?” she demanded to know with a hint of annoyance. Seriously, that was the second time today someone had quit on her. She would never get any stronger that way. “That match wasn’t over.”

“I don’t need my friends to suffer any longer at the violence of battle,” N told Salieri offhandedly as he took out Purrloin’s pokeball. He returned the Dark type, and then released it again. This time, the beam of light was blue. N crouched down and pet the top of Purrloin’s head. “Thank you for helping me, my friend. Please go on home now. I don’t want you to worry anyone.”

The Purrloin zipped away, off of the streets and into the forest. It was only after that had happened that Salieri realized N had just released his pokemon. A trainer that doesn’t like pokeballs or battling? “N…why did you become a trainer?”

N stood up straight, facing Salieri as she spoke to him. “I am a trainer so I can help Pokemon. As long as Pokémon are confined in Poké Balls... Pokémon will never become perfect beings. I have to change the world for Pokémon, because they're my friends.”

Salieri rubbed the back of her head. It looked to her like he had definitely chosen the wrong profession. “Chen Zhen, you don’t think that I’m…confining you, do you?”
Chen Zhen crossed his arms and shook his head for a firm ‘No’.
“I didn’t think so, but still. What about the rest of the pokemon I catch along the way?”
This time, Chen Zhen opened his mouth to try and explain, but fell short of thinking of any ideas. “Yaaaaaa,” he sighed, rubbing his chin in thought. Salieri grunted in impatience, getting a little fed up with the monkey’s simple nature.
“C’mon Chen Zhen, this is serious. What if I take these pokemon away from something important? I’d feel like a monster.”

She looked down at her hands. “I want to be strong, but not like that. N, you might have a point…” Clutching her hands into fists, Salieri looked back up. “But you can’t-“

Now she realized she was talking to no one. The mysterious trainer had vanished, and as Salieri spun around to try and find him, she saw no trace of him to be found. “N?” she called out, puzzled. The trainer looked down to Chen Zhen, and, with a shrug, began to walk away and towards Accumula Town.

Chen Zhen looked back to where N had been, sure that he was missing something. Just for a second, something had been there. Something shimmering with a pink light. But it had vanished as quickly as N did. Furrowing his brow, the confused Pansage turned and caught up with his equally as confused trainer.

Once more the girl before her was all over the place. Creating and maintaining multiple conversations, Henrietta herself could barely follow it all. "Thank you," she said and she looked away. After a second or so she looked down at Dali and returned the shinai to her belt.

"I'll battle you. H-hum, if you want," Henrietta said as she looked down at the water type. What Pokemon could she use for it? She had two fire types and an electric/bug type without any offensive electric moves. Even so...

She took Socant's ball from her belt and released him. The little bug proceeded to crawl around her hand as it had done when she released it while talking to Wayne.

She clipped the ball back onto her belt and she turned to face Emi, her hand raised and slightly extended as the Joltik crawled around it.

Robby blinked at the way this girl jumped all over the place with her topics. He felt like he'd have to stop time to be able to keep up with her. "Er, I'm Rub- Robby." He said first, trying to find some starting ground. It helped that the other person didn't seem too on top of this girl's conversations.

" 'S 'at right? I didn't know that Bacon here was being given out by the professor. Mum and Pop gave 'im to me." He left out the details of having been kicked out. "He's stronger with physical hits 'n all that. That's what stuff like tackle is, right? He spits some fire, but I'd rather he had some kinda tackling flame thingy."

The obese youth watched the short exchange that the girl who'd followed him made with this one, then considered things. "I got another one, if you want a longer'un. Same type as yours, so it won't go down all that fast. Least, I was told that's how it works." With those words, he released Roast, the ducklett.

Eunmi looked at the Joltik in Henrietta's hand and then down to the Ducklett at Robby's feet.

"They're both so cute," she said. "But..."

She looked down at Dali.

"I don't know how to battle much, and I'd be afraid of hurting your bug," she said to Henrietta. "And if they are the same type of Pokémon, something going wrong would be less likely, right? We might be a bit reckless. What do you think, Dali?"

"Osha!" the Oshawott grabbed it's shell and imitated one of the movements Henrietta had made, standing in what she had called "Chudan", or at least what he remembered. His footing was a bit off, and Eunmi pushed her foot against his to ensure the distribution was right.

"You don't care, as long as you get to fight," Eunmi observed. "You're really into this. And here I thought I could convince you to use that shell to sculpt ice or something...

"Well, why don't we have a try with the bird, and if Dali's up to it after, we'll see if we can take the bug?" She smiled and gave Henrietta a playful bump on the shoulder.

"These things have names?" she asked. She was growing tired of constantly pulling her Pokédex out.

In one of the few rooms for trainers at the Pokemon Center in Accumula Town Kijin would slowly start to awaken, he wasn't one to wake up really early but when he did it was for a good reason.

After looking at the clock on the wall he would do his usual routine of fixing his hair, getting washed up, and some stretches. Once that was done and taken care of he grabbed his things and set his other clothes back into his backpack ad headed downstairs.

As he moves down towards the lobby of the pokemon center he would spot nurse Joy and smiles to her giving a wave as he moves towards the counter,"Thanks Nurse Joy for letting me sleep in one of the rooms upstairs for the night I have to say it is a nice change from camping out on the road." He says with a soft smile on his face.

Nurse Joy nods her head and has a small gentle smile as she hears his words and nods her head to him,"I'm glade to hear it though I have to admit with the way you looked when you came in here last night...well lets just say you needed it." She says with a grin as people were still entering and leaving the pokemon center."Oh my looks like its going to be a busy day today."

"Well then i'll leave you to your work then Nurse Joy." He says as he turns away from the counter and begins to head towards the sliding doors, his hands moving along his belt making sure all his pokemon were there, as well feeling the weight of his backpack let him know that all his stuff was on him. He soon headed out the door looking around at the buildings of Accumula Town.

at this point in the battle Takamaru had but two options, Have spike use 'Dig' and attempt an escape from the attack or to use 'Iron defense' in an attempt to block the attack head on. From this observation it was clear what he must do.

Though just as he was about to usher the command to use dig he noticed a small boulder notched out of the ground at an angle and an Idea struck him, "Spike! Alter the angle of your claws vertically" Spike did so but that wasn't the end to the maneuver, "Now angle your body's rotation towards the ground," and so he Did thus ricocheting his body off the small boulder and into the air in the direction of Hitnonlee's attack.

"Now Use Iron defense!" this move hardened Spikes Body with the density of Bulk Iron and in turn making his Rapid spin that much more powerful.

Depending on the outcome of the attack Spike would either propel back towards the ground but proceed to use dig and tunnel its way under the earth or Hang defenseless in the air.

"H-hum, alright," Henrietta said. She looked to Roast and then to Dali. Should she watch? Pick up some pointers? Judging from the conversation both of them were new to battling as well. In other words it was probably better to obtain first hand experience if it was readily available.

And one look at the movement in the grass told her it was readily available.

"I'm going to do some training, then. If you two don't mind, I mean," she said as she looked from one to the other and then toward the tall grass.

"Kick off instead!" Wayne shouted as the Drilbur shot towards Hitmonlee. The pokémon angled his foot so that when it made brief contact with the claws' hard outer layer, the force wouldn't tear into him but instead act like a moving platform that he could jump off. Since Spike was pushing downwards, Hitmonlee's efforts made him kick off to the side and the combination of directions twisted his limber body around.

Hitmonlee span in the air, bringing his leg up as Spike's unprotected skull became visible. Before Spike could keep moving and hit the ground, Hitmonlee acted; he didn't even need to be given the order from Wayne. By forcing himself out of the way and twisting around, he'd already begun his next Rolling Kick.

This one was aimed on the top of Spike's head, another weak spot. Given his bulk and current speed, Spike shouldn't be able to change direction again; Hitmonlee was counting on this being the case with his leg shooting out to squash the Drilbur's head into its body and knock it sideways.

“Alright, that’s seven. That’s an alright number to stop at, it’s lucky.”

Chen Zhen and Liuye Dao collapsed on the ground, huffing as the Lillipups they defeated scurried away. Seven Lillipups weren’t that hard to beat. Seven for each of them in two minutes wasn’t very easy, though. “Chen Zhen, can you give Liuye a hand?” Salieri asked as she reached into her side bag for a Potion.

The Pansage nodded and winced as he gently took a leaf off of his head and passed it to Liuye, who lay on the ground next to him looking up at the sky. The Pawniard took the leaf and promptly ate it, filled with renewed energy. Salieri kneeled down to give Chen Zhen the Potion. It didn’t matter if he could use his leaves to heal himself: for him, eating his own leaves was like a person eating their own toenails. Super gross. “You guys wanna go another round?” she asked.

The two pokemon groaned in unison, and Salieri sighed. “Fine, fine,” she gave in, and plopped down onto the grass beside her pokemon to lay with them. Quiet moments like these helped her gather her thoughts, which she had a lot of.

She didn’t know if she should be adding a tally to her score for defeating N or not. She won, technically. It didn’t feel like a real battle though. She may have only gotten into one before it, but this one felt more like a strange exam. So was it a win, or not? After all, that's what really mattered.

Salieri: One, The World: Zero. Draws: One.

A chime rang from the xtransceiver on her wrist, and Salieri sat up to take the call. “Ello?”
Salieri? Oh my darling Salieri, how are you doing?
“…Mom, I’ve only been gone for four hours.”
I know, but it feels like it’s already been a year! First Moze leaves, and then you follow after four years later. I already have an empty nest! Ohhhh, they grow up so faaaaast!
“Mom, you gotta chill,” Salieri said as she lowered the volume of the xtransceiver while scouting around for other trainers. She could see a few in the distance, but they were too far to hear her. “…you’re embarrassing me.”
I know, I know. But it’s because I’m your mother and I love you…what, dear?....oh, your father says hi, and that you should remember to practice your palm strikes and drink your vitamin shakes.
Salieri rolled her eyes and plopped back down onto the ground in between her pokemon, who smiled at each other in light of Salieri’s embarrassment. Despite that, she was still glad to hear the voice of her parents. “Yeah, I’ll be sure to do that.”
Oh, but that’s not why we called! Your brother told us that he left you a pokemon in your PC box for you! He said that he thinks she could use a trainer like you.

Chen Zhen looked up at Liuye, raising his eyebrows in interest. His Pawniard nodded. A new member to the team either meant splitting up training duties, or more training. “Really? Well, you’re gonna have to tell Moze I said thanks, and that I won’t let him down.”
That’s my Salieri, always the polite one-oh dear, you’re going to burn the skin off again!....Salieri, I have to go. Your father is doing that balance thing with the hot tea kettle again. Goodbye sweetie, remember to call!
Salieri laughed. So typical of her dad. “Gotcha. I’ll talk to you later, Mom.”

The Battle Girl sprang to her feet after turning off her xtransceiver to face her pokemon. “Well guys, I think we might have a new member of the Salieri Fighting Family.”

Liuye nodded obediently at the news, and Chen Zhen flipped in the air. [Am I still team captain?] he asked her as he pointed to himself. Liuye sighed at the Pansage’s concerns. [Cause I do not wanna give up that spot.]

“Don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll be awesome,” Salieri reassured, not actually knowing what Chen Zhen was asking. She returned her pokemon to their pokeballs and looked ahead at Route 2. She could always just go back to the pokemon center in Accumula Town, but…

Nah.

Salieri began to walk down Route 2 to Striaton City.

"Roast's a ducklett." Robby replied, not really able to answer anything else. He definitely couldn't say what the bug was, he hadn't seen one before, and didn't have a way to tell what was what. "Bacon's a Tepig." Okay, that one was probably more of stating the obvious, just to make up for ignorance. To cover the slip, and cause he was hungry, the obese lad began eating more chips.

"Er, alright, so we back up an' all that, right? Then the two fight or something." He backed up a bit further with Roast following suite, and then waiting for the apparent opponent to be ready. "So, er, when you're ready, right?"

Spitting water was the obvious way to go, to keep this fair to both of them. But that wing slap thingy was probably better, didn't look all that watery. He'd stick with water for now, though. Well, soon as the match started...

"You come up with interesting nicknames," Eunmi laughed, walking a few steps backward.

"Okay! Dali, take your shell and hold it like a sword," she stopped and looked around. She quickly located and picked up a stick and held it out, mimicking one of the stances that Henrietta had shown them - chudan again.

"Shell Blade!" she cried, enthusiastically mimicking attacks being called the way they did in television shows. Dali was delayed a second, surprised at how loud Eunmi was being, but then ran at the Ducklett, shell held down to his side as he ran and then slashing forward as he struck outward - a 'do' strike.

As Kijin leaves the pokemon center he would pull out his map for the region and starts to mark the path for the next city but something out the corner of his eye caught his attention he spotted a couple of trainers outside the city having a battle. He watches them stumble a little with getting started it became more apparent that they were new trainers. He had the urge to go help them but he knew better besides it was better for them to battle against each other so they can learn from each other even though the girl seemed to be acting a little odd but its part of being a trainer, and soon enough he puts the map away and heads down Route 2.

As he moves down the path he finds a good open spot and grabs one of his pokeballs,"Hmm I think its time for you to see the new region." He throws the pokeball up into the air letting out his Tropious.

"Trooooo." Was let out in a soft roar as the large plant pokemon stood up with its large leaf like wings flapping as if getting her wings out a little. She looks around the area a little surprised by the new smell and area she was in but that was soon quickly changed out a happy roar as she spots Kijin."Troo Pipious", it lets out as she turns around towards him with a happy grin as she shakes her neck hard letting a piece of fruit fall down into his hands.

Kijin blinks then smiles softly as he knew what she usually does giving him a piece of fruit. He never understood why she does that but he didn't mind as long as she was happy. He peels the banana in his hand and looks up at Tropious,"Well Tropious what do you think of the Unova region?" He says looking up at the tall pokemon as it seemed to examine the sky and trees a little.

Tropious would look around in excitement now compared to its initial look, but now that she knew where she was and with her trainer she would soon move out of the shade and find a nice open spot with sunlight and seems to spread her wings out and almost looks like she was sunbathing.

Kijin chuckles and smiles a little as he watches Tropious start to soak up some rays he watched his pokemon and started to look at his other two pokeballs."Hmm well I guess when I find a more diverse location I may let them all out." He says looking back up at his sunbathing pokemon.

While Robby and Eunmi's battle began, Henrietta moved toward the grass to begin her training. After watching Darumi take down the Purrloin she felt confident.

Henrietta recalled Wayne training in the gym. He had a pokedex, right? So he could look at information about his Pokemon, including moves? Henrietta didn't have a luxury like that so she'd have to figure it out as she went. Currently she had a list of their moves written down in pieces of paper. As for the information about their species? She didn't know that either.

Thus, she'd have to learn by having them go into conflict with other Pokemon. Experiment, if you will.

"Darumi," she said and the Pokemon ran up to her side, and then her other side, and then he repeated this over and over.

"Let's see how many battles we can win," she said and Darumi nodded.

First they had to find a wild Pokemon. It was easy enough, the grassy areas were full of them.

For the sake of training, four battles would play out. The first, Henrietta had Darumi use tackle. It was riskier as Darumi didn't have the spinning ball form to make him a moving target and to 'parry' head on attacks. Roll Out seemed to do less damage than tackle, as noted during the second battle, but it got stronger with each passing movement. So, Henrietta opted to stick with Roll Out.

After the last two battles Darumi returned to Henrietta, the fire on his eyebrows waning. He looked at her, yawned, the eyebrows poofed and he turned into what looked sort of like an egg.

Henrietta giggled at the sight of it and she knelt down and picked him up.

Socant crawled from her arm to Darumi's head and sat there.

"We'll train you next, let's check on the others first, though," she said and she turned back to see how Eunmi and Robby were doing.

(For the sake of timeframe, the end of this post should be set around the end of Eunmi and Robby's battle, so anyone who tries to interact with Henrietta should keep that in mind.)

"Thanks, I guess." Robby replied, then nodded to his pokemon right before the beginning of the battle. Things today were getting a little bit weird.

"Hop and spit on it." He called to his pokemon, who moved towards the charging Oshawatt, then jumped when she felt it was a good timing. At roughly one second before, watergun would be fired towards Oshawatt's face, an attempt to blind it so Roast could manage an unseen jump over its head.
