It was finally here. A lesson that brought them one step closer to becoming a full fledged dragonrider and one step closer to having to fight Thread herself. She would have been utterly terrified to climb up onto Galensith's back if not for the fact her weyrmate fought Thread, and countless other dragonriders did too. That and a warm voice inside her head. We can do this RinisMine! We will become the best green pair Western has ever put forth!
The woman smiled as she mounted up and secured the straps. How could she fail with a vote of confidence like that? Right. Our first stop is Solace Hold. Do you see the picture? The green lofted up into the sky with a hum. Oh ye.... Rinis are you sure about that? Something doesn't seem right. Perhaps we should check?Really? Hmmmm. Ok go ahead and ask.
The green reached out to the nearest adult and a moment later passed the correct image to her rider. Rinis shivered with a chill. If they had jumped with that...... Thanks love. Let's go. Galensith took them between to Solace Hold.
1. You failed. Somewhere along the way, you absolutely botched this jump. You go Between but find that it takes a lot longer than three coughs to get out. One, two, three, four...five..!... six!! Oh shaffit all! You're stuck! You can't feel, you can't breathe, and you and your dragon start to panic. But nobody hears your cries in the cold waste of Between.
Dead.
=Alternatively= you may opt out of this tragic fate by having your weyrling double check their coordinates with an assistant. It might be shameful but better you live another day, yes?
If you roll this 3 times or more, you will be enlisted in remedial lessons =and= an NPC has died. Please let Uta know so they can suffer the fate that should have been yours.

Three breaths and they burst into the air above Solace Hold. Rinis let out a huge breath. She was so glad they had checked. Galensith hovered to let her rider gather herself. We made it, we did great. This is just the start! We have several more to make. It'll get easier Mine. I am here with you. The sky is so pretty here today. Do you think the next stop will be as pretty? What if we found a really nice beach? Do you think we could stop for a brief rest?
Rinis finally chuckled, I don't think our teachers would appreciate a stop like that. Let me know if you ever doubt my coordinates. Alright, if she remembered right, their next stop would be Black Sand Hold. Rinis carefully pulled up the next image and shared it with her dragon. The quick hop between brought them to Black Sand Hold.
7-20: Success! You made it through with flying colors! This is easy-peasy and nothing is going to stop you now! You're a wizard dragonrider, Harry!

Black Sand Hold made the pair pause to admire the view together. They had made it safely once more. That was good. She was getting the hang of this. This place is nice. We should come back here soon. Maybe once we're better at this, Rinis thought with humor. She checked in with the adult rider on duty.
After a moment of circling they were ready for their next jump. White Cliff Weyrhold next? She confirmed their next destination with her dragon. I think so! It sounds pretty doesn't it? Do you think they really have a cliff? Is it white? Do they actually have a weyr in the cliff face? I wonder what it's like living there?
We'll find out soon! Rinis pulled up the picture in her mind.

Rinis smiled as White Cliff Weyrhold came into view from between. It's so pretty! Too bad we couldn't stop and watch the sunset.Sometime soon my dear. Rinis had Galensith circle a few times. Got a good picture of the place? The green nodded enthusiastically. We'll be back soon.
For now they had reached the end of their circlet. It was time to had back to their weyr home. I don't know about you, but I could use a hot bath and a good dinner. Are you hungry? The green was still growing and needed to eat frequently. Maybe a small wherry or two? Galensith asked hopefully. Rinis laughed and gave a mental affirmative. She crafted the image of the Western Weyr carefully for them.

It should have been the easiest jump yet. She'd lived at Western for so long. She sent her flits all over the weyr all the time. Yet the jump took slightly longer than she expected. Just as she was started to get worried the weyr formed below them. Rinis gave a shudder. I guess the weyr looks different from high up. The green rumbled in agreement, as she peered down eagerly. They had made it through their first round of between jumps on their own. Mostly.
3-6: Mostly success! Some potential failure!
If this is your first roll for this circuit, and you have an anxiety level of 1 or 2, you find yourself in dire straits and panicking during your first jump. If you have a 2, you make it out, though it certainly took a lot longer and you're now feeling extra-stressed about this entire affair. If you had a 1, you get lost forever... unless you get your coordinates double-checked.
If this is your fourth or fifth roll for this circuit, and you have a confidence level of 4 or 5, a distraction level of 1 or 2, a Visualization of 1 you find yourself struggling and in need of assistance! If you don't take it or get it, you'll fail your trip Between and wind up lost forever. Whoops!
Alternatively, any of those deaths can be avoided by getting coordinates checked =or= taking a Scare. While it takes way longer to get to your destination, you manage, albeit are shaken. Your Visualization Levels drop one point though, because clearly, you're not doing so hot at this and now are beginning to doubt yourself.

The first week had gone without a hitch (if you asked Jacquol, who conveniently attributed their near fumble on the second jump to a certain someone, and not her own fault, still) and so the pair went into the second week with eager, if slightly anxious on Jubath's part, energy. A quick hop to the Courtesan Hall was met with a wide grin from the young woman—as well as a slideshow of memories for the green dragon to shake her head at. It clearly wasn't her rider's first visit to the hall of lovely people, but all the same, that sort of thing wasn't what ought to be on her mind just then!

2-4: Success & Failure! If this is your second or third roll, and if your Exhaustion Level is 3 or higher, it is going to be reduced by one for the rest of your rolls. i.e. If you had them down as a 5, they are now feeling like a 4. All future rolls will be based on this number until you finish the game. You are feeling mentally exhausted!
A funny name for a hold, Redoubt. Unlike the last week, the second jump afforded little cause to, well, doubt their coordinates, but the effort of focusing so much—not letting herself be as free-minded and wild-spirited as she'd have liked, being serious at Jubath's behest and not trusting to instinct... it did take a toll on Jacquol's mind. It was just so much work! And work was not only not fun, but exhausting. It wasn't work like she'd done on the ships either. That took discipline, sure, but it just wasn't the same. Still, they made it to Redoubt, even if it left the young woman sighing and in lesser spirits for the effort.

Paradise Falls was another familiar location for the rider, and it was all too easy to guide Jubath into leaping there, even with the mild headache coming on. She had good memories here, or at least decent ones, and she couldn't help but lean out over the green's wing to look fondly down at it as they popped into existence high above. Half done now, without too much trouble at all. Last week must have just been their nerves getting to them, she decided.

Sand's End... where was that again? It took Jacquol a moment extra to visualize the Hold... but after an extra beat she got it. A breath, a hop between, another breath, two... nope, there they were, right as rain, the bright green glittering high over the hold, radiating pride and pleasure with her oh-so-clever rider. Now there was only the hop home to make, and surely that was the easiest hop of all, barely worth a moment's thought...!

Barely a breath or two and they were home again, gliding through the warm seaside breeze back down to the Weyrbowl. Now that hadn't been so very bad at all, had it?
