"Sweet! Where are we going dad?!" Kai asked excitedly as he quickly followed suit.

"Whether your mom likes it or not, I think you guys are long past due for meeting your grandma." Van said hefting Larai up in one arm while holding Kai's hand with the other as he headed to the remains of Atius' temple and Marianne's den.

 

[M3Gnificent]

Larai's eyes lit up brightly. "We get to finally meet grandma?!" she exclaimed with bright sparkeling eyes.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Yep! Which means a certain someone needs to be on their best behavior." Van said looking down at Kai as he let go of the boy's hand to knock on the door.

"Yeah, yeah...I know, I know..." Kai said folding his arms.

 

[M3Gnificent]

Once more, the statue slid, allowing entrance via the steps that descended in a spiral. Marianne had no clue that it was Van bringing along Larai and Kai.

Van had a grin on his face as he brought the kids down the long staircase (safety rune or no, he wasn't about to drop them down).

 

[M3Gnificent]

Marianne was busy in her large library while Van brought the children down the stairs. Once they neared the bottom she called out, "Did she not need the cookbook after all?" Marianne only felt Van's aura - she had yet to realise that there was more than one visitor this time.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Actually she hasn't gotten around to using it yet. Although progress of another sort has been made." Van said with a grin as he set Larai down and put a finger to his lips telling the kids to be quiet so as not to ruin the surprise.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"What do you mean?" she called out, growing suspicious as she put the books she was dealing with away.

Larai worked hard to resist giggling.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"What, you already forgot the conversation we had not twenty minutes ago?" Van said, still grinning while Kai covered his mouth to muffle his snickering.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"I don't get quite what you are going at!" Marianne said, now heading out of the library and towards the room in which Van waited.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Then hurry up and get out here! There's only so many subtle hints a guy can make before he runs out of material, and these two chuckleheads aren't going to stay silent for much longer!" Van said, teasing the kids' inability to keep from laughing.

 

[M3Gnificent]

Marianne approached the group, her eyes wide with surprise at the sight of the two children. "She...she...she let them come?" she asked, overjoyed to know that her daughter didn't completely hate her after all!

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Yeah, just don't expect Mala coming with any time soon, or expect to be asked to babysit..." Van said before kneeling down between his kids and put an arm around each of their shoulders. "Anyway, Kai, Larai, meet your Grandma Marianne." he said with a smile. It was the smile of a parent who got to see their kids reach some magical moment in life that only happens once, though he was a little sad that Mala wasn't there to share it with him. He would've waited if he knew she'd give up on her grudge in the near future, but that didn't appear to be happening any time soon.

 

[M3Gnificent]

Marianne approached the three and knelt in front of her two grandchildren, holding the sweetest smile she could muster up. "I'm so happy to finally be able to meet you both."

"I don't get it, how come mom's always talking about how bad you are? You don't seem like some horrible old hag to me!" Kai said innocently. All they really heard about their grandma was what their dad had told them and what they had overhead their parents saying.
