__ Tetsuhiko arrived at the training grounds and noticed that Hikaru was already there. He walked up and stood beside him as they both waited for Zhi and Bastet-sensei. The two of them were quite early on arrival. Tetsuhiko still felt the jolt of excitement that came from completing his nine puppets. They had all of their attachments and were fully upgraded. He was already working on designs for his tenth and final puppet at this moment as he sketched in a large sketchpad. Art always helped him pass the time and keep him in a productive mood. As he sketched he took a seat on the ground and continued drawing. He wanted to remake Juno by hand on his own through blacksmithing and add her as the tenth and final puppet of the Iron Funeral Collection. One day he would be able to control them all at once with kugutsu strings alone, but for now, he needed to use his jiton. He continued to draw without paying much mind to Hikaru. "Paper is for drawing, not for exploding." He thought as he continued his designs.

Bast sauntered into the training grounds. She hadn't really expected to be first, but she certainly wasn't expecting to be almost last. It seemed Hikaru and Tetsuhiko were more eager than Zhi, which contradicted everything she thought she knew about the girl.
"Should I be worried that Zhi isn't here?" she asked the two, looking around as though expecting some sort of ambush. Once she determined the corners were clear, she turned to her pupils and cocked an eyebrow. "Tetsuhiko smells like he's finally seen that first day of hard work, and yet it's Hikaru who's working hard. Hopefully neither of you is tired already."

__ A massive cloud of sand could be seen pathing its way through the village toward this location like a miniature sandstorm with a purpose. Almost as if on cue by Bastet's comments toward about the group, a high-toned voice blasted through the area, "WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIT FOR MMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" Zhi unconsciously applied chakra to her body to move even faster to gain ground, flashing out of sight into a body flicker that easily overshot the group. Luckily, she was able to redirect herself just as quickly and turned back right away. Zhi heavily panted with her backpack hanging off of one of her arms like she'd barely managed to finish getting dressed this morning. The dust, sand and other particles would finally settle with her standing in the middle of everyone else in her team. "I-I... have a reason for being late!" She had her other hand raised while she tried to catch her breath. Zhi lowered that hand to get her backpack fully strapped onto her back and proceeded to explain even if she didn't have to. "Funny story, really! Soooo..." She took a deep breath so she could tell her story as fast as possible, "Iwokeupalittlelatethismorning, butthatwasn'tevenreallyaproblemsinceIknewIcouldcatchupeasily~! NONONO! Iwasjustlatebecauseofthispuppywasstuckunderatrashcan! Sosad, IknowIknow! Ihelpedthelittlebuggerout! Nobiggie! JustwhenIwasleavingthealleyablackcatcrossedmypath! Ihadtotakeanotherroute. THENtherewasthisoldladywhowaslost. Ihelpedherfindwhereshewastryingtogo, andTHENSHEGAVEMESOMECANDY!" Zhi quickly pulled the giant lollipop out of her backpack to show off her crazy morning's trophy to everyone else. Unfortunately, it began to crack then fell apart into little pieces, leaving her only with a long paper stick. Zhi stared at the tip of the stick for several seconds, looking like she might almost cry, but her expression shifted to excessively positive as she tossed the stick back into her pack and shrugged with a huge grin on her face. "Oh well! You win some and lose some, am I right guys!?" She clapped her hands together and said, "I was up pretty late last night training for today! I can't wait to start learning from Lady Bastet and working with T-Fizzle and H-Dog! Let's get this party started!!" Zhi cheered with a fist pump into the air over her head, her bright blue eyes shifting between everyone else with an abundance of energy to share.

__ While Tetsuhiko enjoyed the simplicity of pencil to paper art his sensei had arrived and spoke up. Tetsuhiko's sketch involved long strokes, short strokes, and other techniques for puppet designing. Only his best, most detailed sketches would ever make it to the puppet shop. If he could picture the puppet clearly in his mind in addition to the materials and devices then it was a prime candidate for construction. At the moment he was simply redesigning Juno's mechanisms although he did love her general aesthetic. Unfortunately, the trio had been disturbed by a thundering voice from a small, speedy whirlwind. "Zhi!" Immediately he braced for impact as these movements reminded him all too intimately of their previous encounter on the tournament stage.
The artist jumped up, stored his sketch book, and stared directly at Bast. "Zhi isn't taking the spotlight from me!" He thought as he heard her rapid excuses for being late. "I'm not tired at all, sensei! AND I was on time." He then looked at Zhi and smirked before continuing his training session introduction. "I'm excited because I've finished upgrading my nine puppets. Most puppeteers at genin only create and manipulate one, two, or maybe even three strong and detailed marionettes while I can create and manipulate nine. What do you make of that?" The Iron Prince of Sunagakure struck a proud pose with his right hand with extended fingers pointed into the cental of his chest with his left hand behind his back and standing on his tip toes. "This is the work of a truly great artist and the battle earlier was my finest exhibition." Tetsuhiko had a look on his face as if expecting applause.
Like an arrow fired from the heavens to pierce through the lives of mere mortals, Zhi thundered in with apologies and energy abound but unfortunately without breath. As the tragedy of the lollipop unfolded, Bast simply watched on with muted amusement. Then came the "T-Fizzle" and "H-Dog" bombshells, which almost caused her to snicker. Suppressing that urge became much easier when Tetsuhiko chimed in.
"We'll see if those details last up any better than that lollipop. Alright, now that Zhi's here, let's get started." Her tone switched from one of subdued menace to calm professionalism like a switch had been flipped. At the same time the switch occurred, she created a small handful of clones, which immediately positioned themselves in a line quite a distance behind her, facing the group. They busied themselves while she continued: "I want to get a handle for how you deal with different situations, so to start things off we'll be having a simple obstacle course. You'll be running across moving terrain, destroying a wall, and then making your way down a very narrow corridor. Depending on your performance, I'll emphasize different parts of your training in this initial phase."
Behind her, the clones finished setting up the course and returned to the first stretch, where they placed their hands on the ground. A section of land about ten meters long sped away from them, creating an area where the ground was rushing back toward the starting line at C-Rank speed. Beyond that were three thick stone walls marked 1, 2, and 3--each C-Rank in strength--behind which were three different translucent hallways. Each hallway was only a meter wide, made all the worse by the nearly-transparent spikes sticking out of them irregularly. Hallway 1 had a sharp turn to the left at the end, hallway 2 turned straight up at the end, and hallway 3 turned down into the ground then came back up to land.
"Each of you pick a number and go down that hallway. Last person out gets to run it again. And... go."
Bast stood aside to let her students run the course, turning an interested eye toward the results.

__ Hikaru remained silent as Tetsuhiko approached. Despite all of his pondering, the boy could not find a way to make the artist see the beauty in his passion of demolition. Then came their leader, who seemed to note the meditation that he partook in. Finally came Zhi, whose antics humored him. H-dog huh? Charming.
As the clones appeared and dominated the area, Hikaru stood up. He had nothing of value to contribute to his teammates, so he remained silent. While quiet, he acknowledged the rules the woman gave. First a run, then a wall, then corridor. Sounded simple enough. Hikaru ran to the starting line as soon as the word go was ushered.
When he saw the first part of the obstacle course, however, he noticed that the first part seemed to require more speed then his body could manage by simply running. Because of this, Hikaru performed a medical body flicker to the end of the destination with the three stones. If either of his allies arrived at the position at the same time he did then they would feel some very light healing chakra soothe their bodies. When he got to the wall, however, he took a step back. It was big, but didn't seem to be impenetrable.
This is when Hikaru took to his strength. Paper slid off of his body and formed into the air around him. His hand gently grazed eight of the pieces as explosive paper notes formed on each piece he touched. The paper floated around the area he stood as they all formed into miniature origami horses with wings. He then had four of his special pieces fly off onto the top and bottom corners of the stone. Since he felt like Tetsuhiko and Zhi would fight over one, he decided to take path two. With a snap of his fingers the explosive notes activated, demolishing the boulder and leaving his path to clear. Hikaru then stepped forward into the translucent hallway when all of the sudden his paper got caught by a large, almost unseen spike.
A trap. This certainly complicated things. Hikaru called upon his other four horses as he placed the bombs into four wide areas. When he positioned them well enough he detonated them to clear off the spikes. That was one problem solved. The next one was that he had to ascend all of the way up in order to get to the end. If he wasn't so exhausted then he could use act of tree climbing to go up. Unfortunately he already performed too many actions in too short of a time. How to climb the last challenge? Climb... Hikaru unfolded his paper and made various blocks with them. He then placed the boxes against the wall until a staircase formed out of his paper. It took all of his paper to accomplice, but his ludicrous planned succeeded. With a smile at his accomplishment, he ran up his steps and went to the end. All he had to hope for was that neither Zhi nor Tetsuhiko beat him to the end.

__ Sensei appeared to be pleased with her explanation. Honestly, Zhi was just glad that they could understand her. She wasn't going to repeat herself because that'd be a waste of time. Now it was time to get the show on the road! Bastet explained what they were going to do while those clones set up three copies of a simple obstacle course each of her students were expected to complete. Zhi was plenty eager to go, but then a switch was flipped when it became a sort of competition. Hikaru would have a head start as he took off with a body flicker, something she could easily have mimicked. Instead, he hands wove seals for a different favored technique of her clan. Inverted speed release chakra would become exerted upon the area, significantly slowing everybody and Zhi herself- the Ecological Technique. Although, Zhi was naturally resistant to these effects which gave her a little bit of an edge over her squad mates.
A ram hand seal was formed right after and she turned into a flash of electricity which zipped over the moving ground of the third path's first obstacle. She'd clear the first obstacle shortly after Hikaru would have reached the first wall by the time she caught up. She had no problem detecting the presence of the spiked traps and such in the strangely lit vicinity up ahead, so she just used the wall as a conduit for her body. As it was made from earth chakra she would have too much trouble with her lightning jutsu being conducted through the metallic materials within the formation. It was just like her match against Tetsuhiko... kinda. Zhi angled her leap out of the backside of the first wall so that she could bounce off the surfaces of the narrow corridor just right to make that first sharp left turn.
Once she was sure that she was ahead of the others she'd deactivate her Ecological Technique in mid electrified flight. This let her speedy transformation zip ahead even faster as she ascended through the last part of the second corridor in a jiffy. The other walls would be passed through like the first, so that wasn't a concern either. Zhi couldn't afford to end her transformation now to just use a body flicker and finish like that. There were still spikes lining this corridor too. What a drag! That was okay though, since she was moving plenty fast as this animated lightning bolt. Zhi continued bouncing off the surfaces of the final corridor in long leaps aimed to avoid as much resistance as possible. The lightning bolt that was her would come flying out of the end to open air. Zhi ended the Lightning Transformation with a proud thumbs up raised over head as she struck a dramatic victorious pose. Hikaru had lost a bit of time trying to make that vertical climb and Tetsuhiko was surely also behind her since he started last, having been left to deal with her slowing technique for a good chunk of his trial. Zhi would slowly open her eyes and look around to see if things ended the way she expected them to. Not that she had to see it with her eyes, but it was more satisfying that way.

__ Tetsuhiko listened to his sensei when she began to speak. "Looks like my training has truly begun." His training with her before was merely a preliminary at this point. He listened carefully to her instructions for this obstacle course. For once the conversationalist iron prince kept silent and nodded as he carefully and strategically thought of several scenarios. Although his artistic flair and status as a performer were widely known by all it was his strategic thinking that made him a truly talented and cunning young puppeteer.
Immediately tambourines from the performer's wrists began to jingle and Penthesilia the queen appeared in front of him as ten chakra threads were attached to her back. Hikaru and Zhi were already maneuvering through the obstacle course by this point as Tetsuhiko applied a B-Rank amount of chakra to Penthesilia's body which allowed her to move at triple her current speed. This allowed her to combat the slowing effect activated by none other than Zippy. Penthesilia levitated and soared over the shifting terrain of the first pathway. Once the warrior queen encountered the walls she smashed through them with her B-Rank speed and heavy iron body.
Penthesilia then moved through the narrow corridor as Tetsuhiko manipulated her with his fingers. The transparent spikes were not impediments to this B-Rank chakra-enhanced queen of the iron funeral marionettes. She then took a sharp left before erupting out on the other side of the obstacle course. It was in that instance that Tetsuhiko substituted with her. In less than a second, he appeared on the other end of the course in her place and she appeared where he was. He smiled satisfactorily at his clever technique usage but was unsure how Lady Bastet would rule on the results.
Bast watched with interest as Hikaru made his way through the course. His progress wasn't as fast as the others, but his use of both targeted- and wide area demolitions helped to make up for that. He was already fairly skilled with his paper, and comfortable enough with his abilities to trust his weight to such a flimsy material. Zhi breezed through the course with ease as a lightning bolt, which was pretty much what Bast had expected; what she hadn't expected was the foul play at the beginning, though she wasn't too upset about it because it hardly affected the results in the end. Tetsuhiko went in loudly and thoughtlessly and then switched places with his puppet like a cheater.
"Hikaru, good use of your paper. Zhi, superb mobility. Tetsuhiko, you get a course that doesn't allow that stunt next time." Her tone was clinical and she waved her hand at her clones while speaking. They took down what was left of the course and started erecting another one in its place, creating a ring of stone buildings a short distance away. "Now you'll have to rescue a hostage. In that ring of buildings there will be ten stone people, one of which is your target. This is a good chance for you to get some practice as a team before I start assigning you missions."
The Bast clones came out of the enclosure created by the buildings and took up positions around the perimeter.
"Begin," she announced to her pupils unceremoniously.

__ Hikaru took relief in the fact that no one was asked to repeat the track. He certainly did not want to do so again. He certainly did not want to do that again twice. He led himself out as Bastet set up the next test. The young boy watched with wide eyes as the ninja woman created so many stone buildings in such a short amount of time. He had to learn how to do that. Regardless of admiration, the three of them had a mission. Find the one stone person of the ten that is designed to be rescued. His mind raced with the possibilities. Nine decoys, one necessary. How could they know if the one that they chose was correct? Was it best to recruit all ten? He doubted that was Bast's intention, or else the woman would have instructed to rescue them all.
First they needed a plan of action. They needed a way to make the area safe enough in order to rescue the hostage. What they needed was a distraction. "If neither of you mind, I have an idea which could make getting a hostage out of this place safer." Hikaru said calmly. He knew these people well enough that they probably wouldn't mind his two cents. "I have no way of knowing which one the target is. I'll leave that to Zhi." He said, acknowledging her powers of sensory. Bastet wouldn't have made a trial where there was no way to succeed. She had to make the situation workable for Zhi's incredible sensory talent. If Zhi sensed out the person and then Tetsuhiko rescued them, then that would mean that the three worked perfectly together. That just left Hikaru with the distraction. Paper came from his body as the desert breeze carried them all away and toward the village. The paper wasn't his typical kind, however. Instead, it was cold hard ryo that drifted along the city like confetti by a float. Hikaru knew that the best way to get anyone to lose their minds was to offer the promise of something that they wanted. And what does anyone want more than money? It was his hope that the flood of ryo would be enough to give the other two the distraction that they needed.
__"Heh heh! Always!" She grinned happily at her teacher's given approval. She rocked back and forth on her feet, forward and back, while she watched the next test be designed and explained. 'Rescuing someone means that I could be their hero! This is the next step in the right direction. LET'S GO ZIPPY! LET'S GOOOO!!' She eagerly waited to chase her dream of being like Lady Bastet herself someday. Now it was time for them to try and put their skills together as a team. Zhi's feet became planted when Hikaru reiterated her role of determining friend from foe. Although she watched the clones in her field of vision, her real focus was on the stone figures within each of the six buildings forming a ring around their position. "Let's see... there's two in that one. That one is empty. There's one in that one. Two more right there, and that one two! That last one has three, though." Zhi had pointed to each as she said where the potential "threats" or target was.
If Zhi had to guess, she'd say that the one with the most bodies in it probably had the hostage in need of a rescue. "The one we're looking for is most likely in that last one though. The other two in the building are probably guarding their hostage." Yeah, she was guessing, but Bastet didn't exactly mark their main objective as far as Zhi could tell. Money started flying everywhere thanks to Hikaru's technique transforming his many scattered pieces of paper, leaving her and Tetsuhiko with a short window to either add to the distraction or simply exploit it. This seemed like their best bet. Now it was up to Tetsuhiko to make the rest of the magic of their coordination happen. If she needed to jump in and do anything more than stand close by and point out the baddies then this would not only be too boring but also too easy. She definitely couldn't be a hero just from doing that much. However, she also knew when it was time to show off and when it was time to behave.

__ Tetsuhiko sighed when he was admonished by Bastet-sensei for him using his puppet in the obsticle course. "If that was against the rules then she should've said so. She didn't even say anything about Zhi using her slowing technique on me." He did not understand why he was being chastised in this instance for completing the course perfectly reasonably. Zhi was the one acting unfairly out of the three of them. He was growing weary of being disproportiantely scolded compared to his teammate, Zhi.
He was, however, glad to hear that no one would have to run the course again and instead would face a new challenge. He scratched his head as he viewed the new training element meant to test their teamwork. Tetsuhiko then listened to Hikaru and Zhi before nodding in agreement. He watched as Hikaru created the money distraction, perhaps Tetsuhiko could pick up the extra cash later. Zhi's sensory abilities were invaluable in this situation. "It sounds like it's time for the warrior queen to make a rescue!" The fanciful young gentleman then ran a bit closer to the building pointed out by Zhi and flicked his hands. "The great hero rescuing the distressed hostage, absolutely timeless!" Penthesilia then flew into the building with three bodies in it like a bullet. Once she entered she prepared her long sword in her right hand for a reaction. The two that would attack her would be proven to be the enemies and reveal the hostage if Zhi's assessment was correct.
Several of the figures in the buildings moved toward what were likely windows to look at the cash rolling by in the wind. One person in the three person building and one in a two person building didn't react to the coin tumbleweeds. After the puppet crashed into the three-person building, the interested one in the other building ran out into the street and threw its stone mannequin body onto the money.
Penthesilia would find herself false face to false face with three stone mannequins, each one twisting its head to look at the newcomer. A moment passed before they fully reacted to the situation, at which point they threw themselves at the puppet. A seal would throb faintly on one of them before a barrier grew out of its body, creating an opaque wall across the hole the puppet entered through, cutting off any Chakra that happened to be going through that portal. The other two dummies grabbed for the puppet's limbs and torso, not necessarily in an aggressive manner but definitely in an urgent one.

__ When Hikaru thought of this plan, he imagined it going off like it did in the cartoons. The three make a plan, the bad guys are thwarted, and everything works after the first strike. He found himself very wrong with his logic when Penthesilea did not exit with the target in hand, despite the three all doing their jobs. Paper erupted from Hikaru in full force. His hands glided along sixteen of the pieces as they all became swiftly lost in the flock. Miniature horses with wings folded themselves together as he turned to Zhi. "I can detonate that building from the outside, but I don't know where to place the explosives without accidentally destroying the target inside." He said, analyzing his personal strength in this puzzle. He started to have his flock expand from his current location as he waited for instruction on what to do with all of his power.

__ Zhi found herself biting the tip of her thumb while she kept a close analytical eye on the situation as it developed. 'Okay... so I was wrong. At least it only would've been a puppet to suffer that mistake.' She thought to herself, determining that the three in the sixth building were all hostiles after all. Hiraku spawned a small swarm of origami pegasus which he said could be used for demolition purposes. Zhi thought about it for a second then wondered if such an option would be okay for a real mission. Everything in that building was apparently an enemy, but should they just blow stuff or people up just because they can? She raised her thumb away from her lips to reply to her team, "I think we should just retreat from that building for now. Our target is in a different one." Zhi's eyes scanned over the other stone structures like they could sense something her Kagura Shingan couldn't.
Zhi snapped with one hand when an idea came to mind. She'd do things like Bastet! Her index and middle fingers on each hand crossed against each other as she performed a rather unique hand seal to process her chakra. Three Shadow Clones of Zhi appeared in front of her in a row, each also already holding the same hand seal. Another row of Shadow Clones appeared in front of them. Now there were a total of seven of Zhi! Luckily, she trained so that this technique was next to no effort to perform, aside from how draining it was to divide her strength in general. "I'll scout ahead!" Zhi and her clones all said at the same time as the six clones took off toward the other five buildings. "I'll signal you guys when I find the right one, promise!" Zhi went into the building that only had one rock dummy in it. The empty building was obviously skipped. Then two clones went into the last three building as pairs to see if those ones would also be problematic like the first try. When Zhi arrived in the building she immediately sought out the dummy, but kept her distance. The real Zhi asked the dummy in the room with her from the doorway, "E-excuse me, are you the hostage?" The other clones basically did the same by keeping their distance while probing each stone building for danger. If a non-hostile dummy was found then they could simply dispel theirself to relay the information back to Zhi who could share those details with her teammates in a jiffy! Unless all her clones were simultaneously defeated, she had at least one backup plan. She felt like she could count on Hikaru and Tetsuhiko to help her if things got too dicey.
