The tiger that shouldn't be....is....

Markus smiled, stroking her hair. "Want to rest? I know you haven't been treated well." He paused to make sure his temper was under control. When it was, he continued. "And I know we keep long days. We're all sleeping well at night, tired out."

The tiger that should be....isn't....

Akila shook her head 'no'. She wanted to be treated like everyone else. That was only fair, right? Despite her answer, though, she yawned again, not moving away from where she had claimed his arm.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is....

"If you say so.' Markus chuckled at her actions. He stroked her hair softly, scratching her ears gently. He wondered if he sat here long enough, would she fall asleep? She certainly looked ready to sleep, which was what made him loathe to put her back to work.

Akila closed her eyes as soon as his fingers touched her ears again, and her skin shivered. It actually took effort to stop the purr from leaving her chest, and she was sure she wasnclose enough to him that he wud feel the held back vibrations even though she didn't allow the noise to leave her.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is....

Markus smiled to himself. He couldn't hear a purr, but he could feel enough vibrations to guess she would be purring. He hummed softly and continued scratching her ears. A glance around the room showered folks slowly getting up and dispersing. Well, if she didn't fall asleep soon, it looked like he'd have to send her back to work, he admitted reluctantly.

Akila smiled as she listened to him hum, but was not unaware of the sound of the people leaving also. She opened her eyes a crack and slowly pulled away to stretched. Standing, she wrapped her arms around Markus' neck from behind and kissed him on the cheek. It only took her a moment to find where to stack her empty tray and gave him a little good-bye wave.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is....

Markus sighed and gave up. He stood and stretched, cracking his back. "See you for supper!" He called to Akila, waving as she walked off. He chuckled to himself. She was too stubborn for her own good, he thought privately. Ah well. Sebastion would look after her, grumpy as he seemed sometimes. Shaking his head, Markus headed back to work.

Sebastion was already in the storage room, muttering to himself and shuffling some papers around. "Where is that dratted girl Markus promised me?"

Akila stuck her head in the door, taping the frame lightly with her knuckles first. She nodded guiltily, her sorry, and came in ready to get back to work.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is....

Sebastion looked up at the sound of a knock. He gestured to her impatiently. "Come in, come in. No dawdling. We have work do to. This stuff won't sort itself you know." He waved a pen. "We got more stuff while we were eating!" He sounded annoyed by that. "Now we have to fit it in with the rest."

Akila hurried in to begin sorting again, writing as she worked, letting her mind absorb the task. It was actually kind of relaxing.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is....

Sebastion grumbled and mumbled to himself as he worked, quickly figuring out how things should be settled. It was easy to see why some people would dislike working with him. He got his job done though and done efficiently.

Akila allowed her mind to drift as she worked on her sorting and keeping track. The day passed by quicker than she thought it would, with thoughts of the warm bed she'd be sharing with Markus in just a little longer.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is....

Sebastion stood up and stretched, cracking his back. He glanced at the clock then at Akila. "What are you still doing here, hm? You'll miss supper. Scat." He shooed her out. "I expect you back here bright and early!" He scolded her. His looked softened slightly. "You did a good day's work lass. Go get something to eat."

Akila looked up, surprised, and smiled giving him a nod. She made it through her first day! She climbed to her feet carefully and stretched. And he said she did good! She gave him a little wave with a smile as she turned to leave, still not used to no being able to voice her thoughts directly. At least most of the pain was gone, though. Following her nose, she headed towards the meal room.
