Eren takes a seat, laughing lightly as the Jounin shouts at one of his students to take a seat. His laugh immediately quietens at the mantion of a funeral, and Eren feels immediately like a jerk for laughing. He didn't know what he would do if he lost his mother. He... didn'y want to think about it. Eyes downcast, Eren returns his attention to the Hatake and listens intently to everything he has to say. Not actually caring much that it was raiton jutsu he had asked the man to teach him, for everything he was saying intrigued Eren greatly. It was true that Konoha had both enemies and allies all around them. A dangerous game the village playing by having so much of each, but he assumed that having so many allies was part of the reason it was so prosperous. The main thing Eren takes interest in is what Masahiro says he had read. As he describes what it means, Eren can't help but think that he agrees completely. Everything he said made sense after all. At the end of his lecture, Masahiro asks the genin for their two cents. Not having much to add on, Eren simply states, "there's not much I can say that you already haven't. I agree with all of it. That is, except that last bit about the blade and king. What, uh, what did all that mean?"

Hikari rocked back on her heels, eyes closed as if savoring Hatake-San's words, "The importance in life is not rushing to the destination, it's not trying so hard to achieve a goal, it is in making yourself the best you can be, standing strong. As individuals we are nothing, but as a unit, as a nation, we are strong, our roots go deep." She opened her eyes and, for the first time since entering the village they were hard and cold, like chips of ice, "We fight as one, and we win as one. We can not judge our enemies by their appearance, They could be low man on the totem pole in their village, and yet be stronger than one of their elite. the same is true in our own nation. It doesn't matter where we come from, or how old or young we are. We are no more, and no less, than what we allow ourselves to be." :OOC: Please tell me if this isn't what you were going for and I'll fix it, I'm only running on like an hour of sleep, sorry!sweatdrop
Eren leans back in his chair, nodding slightly as he listens to Hikari's words. They were correct. Now he truly had nothing to contribute, although he could try. "She's right. People as individuals are nothing. It is the people we meet and the people we associate ourselves with who shape who we are, starting with our parents of course. That is why those who choose to stand alone will always fail. People need each other weather some of us want to admit it or not." Eren says this, his usually jovial nature somber and serious. "I'm such a hypocrite, I'm no good with people at all... although I have been getting better lately." Eren sighs and shakes his head, deciding that from now on he would remain silent. He had said his piece, and now he wanted to observe the others. See what his fellow genin thought.

Terra's mind disagreed vehemently with the idea of staying still and thinking through philosophy in a potential moment of crisis, but as it was her sensei and he seemed to be a lot more engaging, Terra took a seat. What the Hatake spoke of was certainly interesting, and Terra immediately felt like there was no answer. Eren was the first to chime up, Terra smiling at the thought of hearing what he had to say before he simply seemed to agree with everything the Hatake said before asking what it meant in the first place. Her eyes immediately bolted over to Hikari, who seemed to be...over-enjoying, if not completely bathed in bliss, whether pleasurable or not...the Hatake's every word before she chimed in. Her stance was clear, that the team was a unit, something that in theory was known fact and easily agreed upon. Silence fell in the room, and Terra felt like it was her turn to speak. Leaning forward a little and looking right at the floor in the middle of them, her tail swayed gently back and forth in a moment's thought of what to say. Taking a deep breath, Terra began her small speech, looking first at Hikari.
"What you say is true, that the team is a unit. Without a doubt, one cannot win a match three on four, or two on four should the team not be acting as a unit. I would think it wise to mention, however, that we are no less what not only we ourselves allow us to be, but our teammates as well. It would be both unwise, and irresponsible, of you and me for one of us to not be in shape because if one falters or is unable to perform full combat, then it might as well be three against four anyways."
Looking over to the Hatake, Terra straightened herself back up and bowed her head slowly, "And one only becomes strong through both physical and mental training. I apologize for my impatience, sensei, but those who sit in times of crisis do not become strong either. We all saw you training here, a technique that seemed so strong as to obliterate any opponent that walks through those gates. I admit my own anxiety of wanting to train the stronger techniques quickly in order to prevent possible disaster."
Hikari smiled at Terra and nodded, "Very true, a team is only as strong as their weakest member." She said as she thought back to her parents. They had been strong once, and through them she had flourished and grown strong as well, but when her mother fell ill it was like her family fell apart. They were no longer strong. And now she was alone in her home that once held laughter and the welcoming smell of home-cooked meals, "A team works best as a unit, but a unit can not work properly if all of its parts are not fine tuned in their own roles."
Righting the fan under her obi, she righted herself and walked the short distance to where the man was standing. It became glaringly obvious moment ago that not only did he know she was standing behind him but also that he had it in his head to include her in his philosophy lesson. This man must be Masahiro in the flesh and blood. When her name passed his lips she was certain that he was to her her sensei. "It seems the Hokage does not know where his leaders are" she thought to herself as she came up to the group of Genin before Masahiro.
Nodding in acknowledgment only once in the direction of the grouping she sat down among the others before her sensei. She listened to his words, they reminded her of something her father had told her when she was a child. After the other two who had spoken she finally spoke. The words being the first she had said in the academy since her childhood.
"What I have gathered from your speech, sensei, is that nothing is as it seems and every spark of life, from the small child, to the strong, to the frail elder, should not be left by the wayside. Though we are besieged by enemies at times and gathered close by friends at others Konohagakure is strong and we must learn to be strong to defend her and her people." her voice was not the timid quiet of a newling lamb but more the quiet that meant she wasn't going to be raising her voice for anyone's convenience but her own. Her words were clear and concise and they left chill in the air when she finished.
Eren can't help the smile on his face as he listens to the others talk, nursing his gourd of sake as he does so. Even though he didn't look it, he greatly enjoyed discussions like this about philosophy or anything like it. They really told you a lot about a person. Still, he couldn't help but feel that this was an odd time to have such a discussion given the events transpiring at the moment. He agreed with Terra that they should be training rather than sitting around talking idly about philosophy. This made Eren think, what exactly was the jounin's reason for bringing this up? That was something he was very much interested in learning. He was getting tired of waiting though, and felt the need to speak up, "I must agree with Terra-san Hatake-san. This is an enjoyable discussion but why exactly are we having it now? Given the circumstances, could this not wait until later?"

Taking a quick head count she noticed at least four others not including Mashi. It was rather evident that he was giving a class or rather some form of lecture so she decided it would be best to join the class, after all one never knew what they would learn next. She tucked away her scrolls and headed over to the group giving her sensei a small curt bow before taking a seat with the others. She knew not what the lecture was about but she was a quick learner so may as well catch up on the fly.

Coming to the office, word had finally reached her that the whole village was on lockdown. There was trouble at the gates and shinobi were to meet at three certain locations. Not really caring much where she went, Jun headed for the academy. Hey, if she was going to have to be somewhere, might as well get some work done, right?
Jun had arrived at the tail end of the lesson, understanding that the gist of it was about teams working together. The level of interest in such a thing was very low with Jun, so she strayed from the group and found a nice space of floor to lie upon. She'd be within sight of the group, but she'd be lying on her back with her head resting on her arms. Obviously she might be trying to take a nap, waiting out the time until whatever crisis was happening was over.
"I was given a job, to protect and teach you. Your education encompasses much more than just your physical training, but your mental as well. You say those who sit in crisis do not, in fact, gain strength? I will tell you now that you are wrong. 'Not to keep from error, is the duty of the educator of men, but to guide the erring one, even to let him swill his error out of full cups — that is the wisdom of teachers. Whoever merely tastes of his error, will keep house with it for a long time, … but whoever drains it completely will have to get to know it.' This is a large part of what you genin have yet to learn, you view this as inaction, but this is the beginning of your training. The Kage has yet to call all Jounin to action, and none of you are quite ready for the kind of combat that would be at our door if it were. Yes, I was training, I was bettering myself physically in wait for all of you to arrive here. I see now that I have my full squad, thank you for arriving, Miss Uchiha, this is what I was waiting for. If I am to train you, I have to know you. You have to know me, you will remember me, and by the end of this week you will all either hate me or revere me, but either way you will respect me." The Hatake said as he visually inspected each member of the assembly before him.
"There will be time for folly and fighting later, you'll be given your chance to show me how much of a prodigy you think you are, in turn. You'll get your chances to fight, to claw, and to try and make demands of me as we progress. Today's lesson will start off in Bunshin."
"Tell me, how many of you are fluent with the Illusion Clone Techniques, and how many of you are interested in learning their next step?" He asked, taking mental note of anyone who placed themselves forward.

• Drunken Dancing: The first move one will learn in this style, it is nonetheless the most important. Drunken dancing is simply that: moving around, be it stumbling or the Tango, as if you're drunk. It prepares the neophyte, really, and can really add some flair to whatever situation is at hand. This is the most basic move in the arsenal of a Suiken master, but the most important. • Crazy Legs: The user simply focuses on fluidity, movement and simple attack routines. From now on, the user's movement is a bit more graceful and liquid. • Jazz Hands: As with Crazy Legs, Jazz Hands is meant to increase the fluidity and speed of the practitioners hand movements.
"I don't exactly get what he means, but I'll just have to assume he knows what he's talking about. He is a jounin after all and besides, it never hurts to review the basics. I should tell him a little about my clan's version of clones and see what he has to say about that. Besides he's right. We're only Genin. We aren't ready for a huge battle yet." With those thoughts in his mind Eren steps forward, drawing some sake into his mouth as he does. Without bothering to give anyone a warning since, well, there was sake in his mouth, he simply spits the sake out. Instead of sake coming out however, there is a clone of him about one-third his size. This was the Sake Soueki no Jutsu, or the Sake Pest Technique. After doing this, he asks Masahiro his question. After a short little speech that is, "I assume by the next step you are speaking of the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu correct? I have studied that jutsu extensively and have failed to see what it can offer me. With these I can annoy the hell out of my opponents, because that generally is the whole point of the clones. They annoy my enemies as they are, or by turning into bouncing orbs of sake, and later on I can even give them wings once I get strong enough. There's even a jutsu that allows me to explode them, potentially knocking anyone caught in the blast unconscious. As versatile as my family's clone technique is, I fail to see exactly what this Kage Bunshin no Jutsu can offer me, but if you can tell me something then I would be rather grateful." Eren falls silent and, taking a step back, orders his clone to go outside before canceling the jutsu. He didn't want to make a mess in the academy after all. Anyways, now it was time to see what the others had to say, or if any of them would step forward. Eren could wait for that. Masahiro didn't have to answer his question right away.
In her mind she wondered where the Jounin was going with his little speech but wasn't going to question it. It had been so long since her academy days that a little review and advancement of those skills seemed practical at this point. She knew she needed to catch up with the others so what better way than this?
Suppressing a shudder of disgust at the sight of the one named Eren's display he made of spitting his sake and flaunting his bloodline she sat in wait. She never understood how some people were so comfortable with their bloodline's gifts but she thought it had something to do with who's side of the civil war you were on. Apparently her family was on the losing side.
Listening to him speak further increased her predetermined dislike of the man. If he couldn't understand the effective uses for a decent distraction then he was lacking more than he let on. Distractions gave you the opportunity to run away from a combat you knew you couldn't win, to make an opening for a counter-strike, or to recover be it healing or regaining chakra. The more she thought about it the more interested she became in re-visiting the long and nearly forgotten clones.
Once the bloodline clone was away and safely dispelled she spoke"I should like to see what you have to offer". she said pointedly. Cam knew that if things went the way she thought they might, there would be a bit of banter and probably a lot of fighting.
Hikari frowned, she knew the basic clone technique, but the Kage Bushin no jutsu was something she'd not had the chance to learn before her parents passed. She looked at the Jounin and smiled sheepishly, "I admit that my training has been... lacking, due to my parent's deaths years previous, but I would like to learn."
"Actually the techniques I'm proffering are not the Kage no Bunshin Jutsu, though did you know at one point that was a forbidden Jutsu? Have you ever seen the elemental declinations of the Bunshin Jutsu, there exists one for most if not all of the known schools of Ninjutsu, and as I've learned even a few genjutsu based variations on their concept. I personally haven't studied either school of Bunshin outside of the one my mother taught me at a young age... Something I've considered changing, here with all of you today." The Hatake spoke as he drew his sakabato in a wide arc, an instant flash of white chakra dancing visibly down the reversed blade, hanging in the air behind the blunt edge.
As he looked to his students the chakra began to build and dance further until a crackle of lightning separated off of him and took the same stance as himself. This clone stood there for a moment, before sheathing it's own blade and stepping between the seating that had been arranged for the genin.
"Most elemental clones like myself burst into our native elements or deliver a devastating effect as we're destroyed, unlike the standard Kage no Bunshin, which simply dissolve upon a tough enough impact. I want to impart to you the knowledge of how to use a bunshin like myself to your advantage in combat, but first you have to be able to summon one of us. Tell me, how many of you already know Kage no Bunshin, a Derivative, or an Elemental casting of us? Keeping in mind that the illusion class you learn in the Academy does not count here." The bunshin asked as it paced back and forth, Hatake-sensei watching, propped lightly against a tree twirling the hilt of his blade in his hand.
