The Machine [Open/Accepting]

"They were." Jian replied. "The girl invited them over to visit."

Vincent said nothing and waited for Zil to leave. 'Valkyrie... are you awake? Can you... hear me?'
'Brother? Yeah... his scream woke me up.' Valkyrie thought back.
'You know what to do right?' He thought to himself.
'Leave it to me.' Valkyrie thought back.

"I see. I think we're just scratching the surface. If we dig a little more we may find a whole rats' nest. Do you think it's a coincidence that they were all kidnapped the same day the girl invited them over, seeing as the Laurels seem to have rebel connections?" Damien asked. He then turned to Jian and began walking towards him with a slightly more anxious look. "Do you think they would have mentioned the machines they were working on?" he stated, a little worried now. What if word got out about that?

((Oops. Yeah. I messed up there. Yeah, the twins are telepathic, and I forgot I put that in their description. Their usually together all the time, so it doesn't matter. ))

"Yeah of co..." Jian stopped in mid sentence and thought. "The only two who know about their genetics are me and you. They're either after their inheritance, or they had to have known of their skills with mechanics before we did. We found out because of the spider model they made, but there were other similar pranks already pulled at the school before this. We might have a few rebels working in the school's administration. By sneaking in young kids like Fanny, and raising them as both rebels and soldiers, they could easily get a hold of internal connections."

Damien was thinking. "Well we could run a background check on all the students and their families, but that will take up time" he said while pondering. "If Helmshire gets those kids then they could start building the same type of machines against us. They have the resources" he added. He then looked at Jian. "We need to probe this Laurel issue further. Any information they can give us will be useful. Once you have everything you think you need from them, have them arrested and taken to interrogations" the dictator ordered.

"Agreed. We'll also make more posts at the borders to prevent them from crossing. The only problem would be if they keep them within Diethelm and sell their designs to Helmshire. The rebels would get funding and Helmshire would get the technology." Jian replied.

"Well then it's best to search the Laurels' house for any machine records. Have the school searched as well, but more discreetly. We don't need any more noses in our business" Damien said.

"True." Jian replied. "I'll send a notice to the security guards patrolling the school."

Damien thought for a moment. "That should be everything, unless there's anything you needed to report" he said. He then thought for a second. "So where did you go yesterday during dinnertime, again?" he asked.

"Finding all of the information I just told you." Jian replied. "What about you? You were gone by the time I came back, and you didn't answer your phone either. I just heard through the grape vine that you left a little early." After all, it wasn't a lie and he did tell Monica he would keep it between the two of them.

"I was feeling stressed, so I decided to go to one of my private locations and relax" Damien said with a casual shrug. "The secret police chief wasn't at dinner either. She must have been aiding in the interrogation of the rioters" the dictator added. He then checked the time. "Well the quicker you get the machines tested out the better" he stated.

"True. I best be off then." Jian replied. "Anything else before I go?"

"No, but I expect a full report both in written format and oral report when you return. Make sure I'm given images as well. I want to see how much damage these things can do" Damien said, almost sadistically. "You may be dismissed".

"Sure." Jian replied, then left. He didn't like doing things like that, but he knew it had to be done. He was then escorted out of the building and taken to the testing facility for the machines by helicopter.

Damien headed back to his office and began going over some files. He opened his drawer and looked at the cell phone. He wondered if Shadow would have called him while he was away. He took the phone out and stared at it some more.

Shadow had just gotten out of the shower and picked up her cell phone again. She called 'David' wondering if he would pick up this time.
