Forgive Azshara's questioning 'chirrup' . . I can change it if you wish.
As I was writing I got hit with a little inspiration. I figured with Harpies being so musical (and mutants) they might be able to mimic various bird call which could be useful when communicating back and forth. . . especially in case enemies appear or things need to be discussed/decided in 'code'.
So while they're hidden in trees or bushes or whatever, they can still communicate command without others knowing what's going on. I . . . I dunno. <<; Could be fun or useful.
Just an idea.

I thought it was a very clever idea, Uta! And it makes a lot of sense for them to do something like that.
Also, Azsh's character so far is exteamly likable. *w*

Random thought for the Harpies to ponder and vote on.
Considering their vanity and love of pretties, its quite possible that they may kidnap natives, especially children, that stray too close to their territory. They don't taste too good, but the young are fairly easy to train and control, and their fingers are good for grooming and making them jewelry.
And as a bonus, they could be NPC's. People could just mention a human, or they could have their own personal 'pet' they can turn into their private character..
I realized that could be partially why my own native Acotas hightailed it out of there so quickly -- an individual might have encountered her camp and after struggle to get her out of her wigwam without getting speared decided a women in her twenties wasn't worth the effort and went off to continue her hunt for food. And once the coast was clear Acotas grabbed only what was most valuable to her (Mostly weapons and a few heirlooms) and GTFO to be closer to the village -- quite possibly to the other side of it, getting them between her and the Harpies 8'D
And its quite likely they'd be about the same level as the guys, even if the gals are a smidgen higher up on the food chain so to speak, they'd be left in "Man Time" safezone, tending to the guys when the mares need time alone from their pets.

PLEASE READ THIS!
Alright, I've just been contacted about the Flock's territory - apparently, although I tried to keep it to a small area in order to avoid this issue, it still came up... That land (or a large part of it) already belongs to another herd.
I'm not sure how this will affect our RP, but I had decided to move the Flock. ICly, after they had settled down for a day and a half (aka they move the afternoon after the hunt), they realized that the place already belongs to someone else. In order to stop their already low numbers from dropping, Aviania decided to lead the herd away instead of fighting after consulting the spirits... Although she is extremely sore about it, so if she's grumpy in RP, do understand why. xD The question now is where should the Flock go? For this, I need your help!
There are many herds in Kawani and most of them either do not state their territories, or are brief with it. For example, their territory might be "the mountains", and I'm left to wonder "Which mountains?" By the way, that's also why I decided not to use the mountains... There are two big herds I know of that resides "in the mountains", or have families of the herd "living in the mountains". Some of these territories do overlap, but the Flock is not the most amiable herd out there, so we won't be able to do that. xD;
Anyway, the Harpies can only live in the mountains or forests because they like the cover... So where should we move? If you have a suggestion, take this official map and use an art program to highlight/circle/whatever you can think of to indicate the new territories.
I'm sorry that this is so sudden! >.<;

Shinos - I don't see why not. xD But that would be more of an individual RP with someone, so you might want to see if anyone takes you up on that offer? To be honest, I'm thinking of making a Flock plot thread so plots can be offered and stuff...
I wanted this to be the plot thread and make a herd thread only after the idea is stable since there are still so many things to iron out, but a staff moved it without telling me first. =/
Uta - Oh, that's an interesting idea! Mmm, like Harpy Morse Code. xD I'm pretty sure its doable as well, and not too OP... I'll add that in the official herd thread when we have one. (:
Mind - Hm, if we do that, the Kawani village will probably deem us a threat and attack us. >.< I know it won't happen in RP since to be honest, the NPCs of this shop don't appear much. However, just to be on the safe side, I don't think kidnapping humans is a good idea... Especially the children. You know how children are always a soft spot for most humans. x.x;
We have a rival flock nearby, Epine's group of adventurers and a pair of Gryphon brothers to worry about anyway. I'm trying to make it more exciting so that you get the most out of being in a Flock-setting... Besides, I don't think Aviania will allow a potential fourth threat. xD Being the wise Queen she is, she'll advice her girls to stay away from the 'weird 2-legged ones', although I guess the occasional attack on a wandering human seems probable... Most animals will attack when feeling threatened, after all. :3
They were isolated on the mountains before this, going out only to hunt for food and males. There are few humans around, so I also imagine them to be rather foreign for the Harpies. =x
Poll - You're very welcome. <3 Well, is she a new member (just joined) or part of the original herd? If the latter, you can go ahead and RP. :3 For the former, just poke me on AIM when you see me!

Well i f that doesn't through one for a loop... Hmmmm... -looks at the map and ponders- What about this area? It's still near the mountains, has river access, and is still in the forest...???

Perhaps we could go with a more generalized location. One has to realize that the shop map is only going to allow for so many herds to 'claim' a territory if everyone is marking them off in colors.
Just a general "In the forest near where the river splits," should suffice just fine. We could have someone do us a pretty image of our landscape with a few of our harpies and use that as our location image.
My Miakodo herd has numerous locations that they protect, but they call the lake 'home'. They share the other locations with other herds, and there is an understanding that they all protect those lands.
Also, the Padmapani are a gentle herd. They prefer not to have confrontations if possible and allow those who will not harm them to pass through or inhabit their lands. They occupy some of the mountains not far from Miakodo (as there are a few related members in the herds).
I could talk to Puu and Ron, but I would not mind sharing some of our home territory around the lake and mountain...so long as the harpies leave my herds be. A silent agreement perhaps between the Queen and Miakodo and Padmapani Alphas. (Unless of course we think of some neat plots between the herds! *giggles*)
