Maybe if she moved the webbing sheet here...

Nope.

Damaris tried to re-position it a little lower to see if maybe that would improve it.

And, again, it failed to hold up to the attack.

Maybe if she double-folded it...

Nope. Still didn't do it.

"I-I am truly sorry..." A slight tremor had started in her voice before she got another series of hoof-pats from the spiders.

They truly were able to put up with a lot, it seemed.

Shun carefully assessed the damage to the destroyed dummy, then looked over the armor. He supposed a part of the problem was that the dummy wasn't exactly able to move around. Leather armor was a little less effective with direct blows. Especially when it can pierce like the spiders' fangs. Even so, he decided to see if he could get this to work out. If not, he would try something else.

The reaper took the armor back and began to make adjustments. He tried to add a second layer to areas he would deem as 'vital'. Maybe some extra padding like that would help out.

When that was done with, he picked out a new dummy and outfitted it with what he had. He was hardly a tailor or smith, but perhaps it would be enough. Once he finished, he stepped back and gave another grunt to the 8ft spider that had been waiting for the moment to strike. It had just barely managed to breach the defenses this time around.

After taking another moment to assess what had been done, Shun figured he would give leather one more try. He made a few more adjustments to his designs, adding some extra cover for where he saw the heaviest amount of damage.

A few moments later, the leather attire was back on the dummy.

He drew in a breath, then motioned the spider to strike.

Perhaps the leather he was using was too damaged as is, or something else happened. Either way, it ended up being completely torn apart in the spider's attack.

The fawn ghoul tried her hardest to not stare at the pile of failed sheets of webbing as she added another to it... Maybe she could ask about keeping them later to make something from them so they didn't go to waste...

Upon putting another on the pile, she thought about perhaps making a cloak or a dress... A dress would be really pretty.

Hopefully, they would let her have some of it if the spiders weren't going to use it...

Just for the hell of it, Shun went to fetch some fresh leather, then re-fashioned the armor. But once again, it was destroyed. This wasn't working.

He took some time to consider the rest of his choices. After some thought, he decided to go with tree bark. It was a rather unconventional choice, he felt, but he really had no idea how the hell he was going to process spider silk into something functional. The Reaper also had no means of forging armor with steel, unlike the red dragon nearby.

Shun set the chunks of bark over the dummy, then stood back. He didn't really have a great deal of confidence in this.

And probably for good reason. It didn't stand up to the spider's strike.

Shun closed his good eye for a moment. Okay. Sure. A low grunt escaped him, as he soon went back to work. At this rate, he figured he may as well go back to trying leather, seeing how he had less of an idea of how to work the bark. For now, he stuck with it.

With a shake of his head, he went back to the web and fetched a small pile of leather. Back to the drawing board. He went on and tried to alter his design from earlier in the least.

More adjustments were made. And finally, this time around, when the spider struck, the dummy still held. It was in pretty bad shape, but it hadn't been completely broken.

Shaking his head to himself, he took a step back, glad to be done with that, now.

"I do hope these don't go to waste..." She hadn't mean't to say it out loud but she covered her mouth on instinct and shook her head at the inquiring tilt of the spider's posture.

"S-sorry, sorry! W-we have an assignment to complete. I was thinking out loud..." She proceeded to grab the shredded parcel of clothe to add to the pile.

Maybe another form of defense was needed cause, as much as she adored the naturally-made webbing, it didn't seem to stand up too much against such strong attacks...

She contemplated a moment as she added another webbed sheet to the small pile.
