Green Vine Green was nearly purring at the attention, both of her Teal and Blue Spiral sister and of the candidates. Oh, this was just so, so lovely... The attention, the admiration, the love... She crooned happily and pushed her snout into Lusialu's hand, as if reading her mind—and she could do that, after all!—about wanting to reach out. Well thank you sweetheart, you're quite lovely too! And so are you, she thought to Oranie, reaching out a wing claw to gently tug at her robe for just a moment before letting go... distracted by... another sister? She paused in her fawning to look back to where Worried Bear had hatched at last, sending a trill her way. Why didn't she come join them! It would be oh so swell if she did...!

It took a few moments of looking, before the Gold Butterly Wing finally found exactly what she wanted. Giving a happy little trill, her eyes whirled purple as she moved purposefully through the throng of Candidates. There were so many she wished to meet, so many she wanted to say hello to, and socialize with....
But there was someone she needed, someone who was seemingly a world away. They hadn't made official acquaintances yet, but she knew in her hearts that this was the one. While she could have made the Weyr wait--as well would have been her right--she was eager to the first.
Like the little princess she knew herself to be, the young gold stepped over to the sidelines, before she looked up and sat down. She wasn't going to push herself up the tiers and walk over the crowd, but was going to catch a certain someone's eye.
My brother might be checking out all the boys, but I was looking for the perfect girl. Her voice was warm and full of delightful humor. Think of how much more proud he'll be, and all the talk he'll have, now that a queen has chosen his daughter, my Madanee. Her eyes whirled a bright rainbow of color as she sent her longing, love, and affection towards the girl. She didn't care she wasn't a Candidate proper--she found her match. Come to your Carovnicath, and do hurry. I would so dearly like to show you off.

Impression Post
Madanee watched with her lip slightly curled as Nedemar reached out for the small bronze dragon, making him look as if he were begging for even a scrap more attention from the poor creature. Ugh...save yourself the trouble, she thought to herself, glancing beside her to watch as her father leaned forward in his seat, watching eagerly. Pff. Men.
She scanned the rest of the sands, taking her eyes off her brother for the time being. More and more dragons were popping out of their shells and there were only a few left uncracked. Dragons of all hues were milling about on the sands, some sussing out the Candidates while others mingled with each other. It was all quite dull, really. She'd been to more exciting hatchings like the golden queen who had laid this clutch. Now that had been entertaining.
My brother might be checking out all the boys, but I was looking for the perfect girl.
Madanee - who had never had a dragon speak to her before - wrinkled her nose as she looked around for the source of the voice. Who was talking to her? There weren't any women in the general area where she and her father had sat, none that were close enough to speak in her ear at any rate. But...the sound hadn't come from beside her. It hadn't really been a sound at all.
Think of how much more proud he'll be, and all the talk he'll have, now that a queen has chosen his daughter, my Madanee.
...wait. Queen? Chosen his daughter? Madanee's gaze flicked around the sands, trying to spot the golden dragon, and when she finally found her their eyes met. She held her breath and froze as those purple eyes slowly shifted to swirl with rainbows and for a moment everything went quiet. The world narrowed to just the two of them, this little golden creature talking to her. She could vaguely hear her father asking if she was all right beside her but it sounded as if she was under water and he was up on the surface, muffled and unclear. The love and affection and want that wrapped her up made her feel warm and invincible.
Come to your Carovnicath, and do hurry. I would so dearly like to show you off.
Carovnicath. Of course that was her name. Madanee didn't know she'd known it until this very moment, but at the same time she felt like she'd had it there in her mind tucked away her whole life. She rose from her seat and noise returned as she moved, her father's hand on her arm holding her in place. She turned to look at him and something in her face made him pause as realization hit him.
"Gotta go, Da," she said with a confident smirk. "Sorry. Stick around, I'll find you after." After what, she wasn't sure. Madanee had zero knowledge of anything that went on in a Weyr after a hatching, but Carovnicath did. That was more than enough.
Picking her way carefully down the tiers, Madanee stepped onto the sand in front of Carovnicath who lifted her head, surveying Hers with an appreciative eye. Madanee reached out to touch the shimmering hide, her fingers tracing the golden markings along Carovnicath muzzle.
"You're gorgeous," she said softly before a flicker of uncertainty crossed her face. "I'm not sure what to do."
Fear not, Mine, for I do, Carovnicath said with easy confidence and a charming tone. She pushed into the soft hand affectionately before rising to her feet, using her body to steer Madanee in the direction of the feeding tables.
My siblings will start to join us soon, but let's get over there so I can have the best bits. It's only fitting, don't you think?
"Of course," Madanee returned, letting the golden dragonette lead her while walking beside her. She felt...strange. As if she could see through two sets of eyes or feel extra heartbeats in her chest. It was a good strange, but she was thankful Carovnicath was staying by her side so she didn't wobble. Future Holders- er...goldriders didn't wobble as they walked, even after finding a piece of themselves they didn't know they'd been missing. "Only the best for you, Carovnicath."
And for you, MadaneeMine. Once they reached the table Carovnicath had no trouble pointing out which bits of meat she wanted, Madanee happily carving off the fat and gristle that was barely left on the strips of meat. Carovnicath ate daintily despite her hunger, sparkling eyes watching the sands to see who would join her first.

Nisadee
Nisadee was, inwardly, quite pleased to hear that Razanel had his eye on the blues - not that she needed him to share her opinion for hers or his to be valid, of course, but it was gratifying to have company, as it were. And not that there was anything wrong with the other colors, either, but it took a certain type of person to have the conviction that they were destined for a metallic, and that was generally not her type. Even if, out of her family, it was her goldriding aunt who was the most reliable, and her dragon the least...difficult. "My mom's a bluerider, dad's a greenrider," she shared, after a moment to consider whether or not she wanted to. Both remained stubbornly unaffiliated, after all. And, apparently inspired to a sharing mood, answered the return question honestly, "Turns out the one I got on with at the Touching is blue, not that getting along with them in the egg is any guarantee. Still, I'd not mind if they came over."
At the very least, if they came and went, or even just found Theirs without stopping for a visit, she could finally put to bed the quiet little yearning in heart. Still, despite knowing she was already more attached than she should have allowed herself to become, she couldn't help but watch the trio of blues; curious that she felt partial to them moreso than to greens, if some part of it was a psychological need for approval from her parents' dragons, but then again, Achlyth was Achlyth. When she was little, she'd had nightmares that the seemingly always red-eyed green was going to eat her.
While they'd long since faded to nothing but memory, maybe the feelings behind them still had a bit of hold. Hmm. Something she'd have to reflect and work on.

Oh- she had missed the chance to Impress first! Bother and drat. Well, her sister might have found her perfect match, but Worried Bear Green still wasn’t certain. She glanced between the candidates, then found her attention drawn by Green Vine Green’s excited trill. Oh ho! Was this her candidate then? Had she found what she was looking for?
On the way towards Green Vine Green and Teal and Blue Spiral Green, Worried Bear Green paused by Isha. Oh. Good thoughts, yes. This was appropriate. She didn’t know quite what to make of this, but blue bled through the hungry reds, and she sniffed the girl’s robes in slow judgement. You can change the world too, you know. Worried Bear Green told her, entirely too confidently for a creature who seemed awkward in her newborn skin.
Then she meandered onwards, careful not to bother anybody, not to fall over herself, not to make more of a fuss than had already occurred. Sisters- surely you can’t be having too much fun without your bonded? Won’t you think of the candidates! You ought to go and find Yours! She nuzzled Green Vine Green and Teal and Blue Spiral Green in turn, then peered up at Lusialu and Oranie. She didn’t seem particularly intense about finding candidates, but it was always good to look around, and company… well… company could be nice. She supposed. You both seem like good candidates, so it would make sense that good things await you. It was the only possible, logical conclusion. Worried Bear didn’t offer her snout for touching or affection- but she was close enough to touch. That had to count for something, right?

kedriom - he/him
Kedriom had been eagerly taking mental notes throughout the entirety of the hatching thus far, aside from a few incidents--the Blue turning his ire nearby was enough to have him standing stock still, mentally repeating every tip and trick he knew about keeping his calm until the danger had passed. After scrambling to assist his fellow Candidates back up to their feet, Kedriom took a moment to breathe, swatting some of the sand off his hands onto his robes. With that incident still fresh in his mind to sort through, the Gold turning her attention to the Stands of all places was --well, suffice it to say that it threw his concentration off quite a bit. This Impression was already a rarity, but to a queen no less? Madanee must be someone special indeed.
"It's-- Been pretty hectic so far, hasn't it?" he asks, casting a sheepish glance at Jhiroquel. "Maybe it'll calm down soon. I can't imagine nobody's tired after that." Kedriom did his best to get a glimpse of Tyara on her way back from the healers, craning his neck and leaning just enough to try and spot her for more than a few moments--it's harder than he'd expected, given the sheer amount of people, and he wishes there was a better way. "You think she's gonna be okay?" She was a classmate, a peer--that was plenty of reason to be concerned, even if he wasn't quite so skilled at articulating why. "If she's coming back, she's probably--alright, but. Still."

It looked as though his brothers were coming to comfort Green Spotted Blue. That eased her hearts, although White Tiger Blue’s keening gnawed at her conscience. Family must look out for family, not turn on each other... She thought, more to herself, although shared with those who still harboured resentment in their hearts. Of course, some of her children might not appreciate the close knit bonds she so desperately desired to build- they were each their very own, special individual… but by Faranth, she was going to try.
Of course you can. That Gold Sunbeam White still needed her, still wanted her company, was a balm for hearts both overjoyed and aching. This moment couldn’t last forever, but cuddles felt eternal. Come, let me gather you close. Look at how well you’ve done. I am so proud of you, my little one. She nuzzled him, drawing him close to her chest, holding him so gently within her taloned grasp. Take as much time as you need. The candidates won’t leave until after you’ve chosen. She hummed a faint little tune, resting her cheek against his form. Could he be anymore perfect? Panting, or huffing, or just… just resting with his mama… her hearts sang with unbridled love.
With Sketchy Cupcake Blue’s sonorous arrival, Mictecath’s alarm metre shot up; it quickly settled when she saw the blue of his eyes, and her humming was briefly interrupted by an amused snort. A dramatic entrance- nobody could fault him for that.
In the meantime, the injured candidate was being escorted from the sands and tended to by the healer. She was certain everything was okay. The pair of candidates had no doubt learnt their lesson, and her dear blue son was being supported by his brothers.
Oh, oh dear. It looked like Sketchy Cupcake Blue had interfered with another of her son’s plans. She blew a comforting breath of warm air over Gold Sunbeam White, clutching him close, before snaking her head forward to marvel at Chocolate Chip Brown. But it seemed like his blue brother was more than happy to mend bonds, and so Mictecath retreated back to cuddle some more. These moments were truly the best: when family came together to embrace and enjoy one another’s company.
Ah, her dear Pawprint Green daughter… Are you well, little one? Do you feel like resting there? Would you perhaps enjoy some cuddles with mama and your brother? Perhaps she was a little too eager to snatch up her children and steal away from the Weyr. It wasn’t the done thing, but… Oh, weren’t they not the sweetest creatures to walk (or fly) on Pern? It was good that her Aubergine Bronze brother was taking care of her too- maybe her presence would be too overwhelming, all things considered.
And look! Another of her fine children here at last! She crooned a welcome to Red and Gold Flowers Brown, whose manners and demeanour were simply impeccable. My son! You are simply too sweet! She bowed her head and sent a whuff of warm air his way.
And when Worried Bear Green finally hatched and joined her sisters, Mictecath had a private moment of relief. She’d been concerned that the egg was a little fraught and nervous about the whole experience- but she positively radiated confidence. Well done!
Mr Cheri Would Pawprint like to join the cuddle party?
demon_pachabel Aubergine is so sweet d’awww. =^^=

“Look how bold he is!” She was truly awed by White Tiger’s proclamation, fond eyes drawn to the blue and his mannerisms. Dragonets were amazing. Dragons, too- but right out of the shell, these babies had the grandest ideas. How could humans compare? There was pressing sense of surrealism, as if she’d been thrown into one of her daydreams, and she shook her head slightly. “Our future stories… a new chapter waiting to be told…” Her voice grew soft and breathy, daring to believe the words she spoke, inspired by the bold blue Tex seemed to love so.
Meanwhile, Green Vine Green had wandered over to meet some candidates. Oh, Rosie was truly envious of them. Would the little green remember her? Part of her, in a small, secretive moment she wanted to hide from the dragonets, wondered if it would be okay to collect a piece of her eggshell to keep. It really had been beautiful to behold.
“Training with runners sure sounds like a lot of fun. My parents wouldn’t allow me to do that, but I liked working with plants and fields. When something grows and blossoms in your care, you can’t help that feeling of fulfilment, you know?” Her voice was still soft, a gentle blush lighting her cheeks.
-----
Things settled down. The only thing that caught him off guard was Sketchy Cupcake Blue’s amazingly dramatic entrance. He barely ducked a wing as he thrashed about, but unfortunately missed the tail that swept his legs out from beneath him. Oops. He landed rump first in the sands, gritting his teeth and holding back a hiss as he felt a stinging sensation in the lower part of his left leg.
Oh, blood. Goodie.
But it was a shallow enough cut, barely leaking. He picked himself up, frowning as he took several steps back. Foolish man, to have been caught so easily by a dragon who- from the blues of his eyes, was only trying to have a little fun. His frown turned into a grin as he hopped from one foot to the other, trying to relieve both the heat and the pain. “Got me good. I was too slow for you. Didn’t see that coming at all.” But he would not be caught again, giving the dragon a wide berth as he finished his little performance.

The slim brown fairly preened under the attentions of his parents, his eyes whirling with purple blues as he both gave and received love. I'm so happy to finally be able to see my family with my own eyes, he thrummed, offering little follow-up nuzzles to Mictetath, Iweth, and Gold Sunbeam.
When you're feeling up to it, would you like to take a turn about the Candidates with me? he extended to his brother - not rushing him, of course, but in case he wanted company or needed a shoulder to lean on when the time came. It would be remiss of him not to offer!
Oh, but what was this? He turned his head abruptly, a touch of yellow coloring his gaze at Cloudy Skies' loneliness. He couldn't answer for Father - though he was quite sure he knew the answer! - but sent his bronze sibling a wave of love. I know I've missed a lot, but I'm sorry you've had to endure trials alone, brother. It's quite lovely over here, if you'd like to join us.
If...if I don't presume too much in being the one to extend the invitation. He looked back up to his parents, eyes wide and hopeful. For while he knew without a doubt that all were welcome, he was but a young brown, and by rights it was not his invitation to give.
Concern and eagerness to help had perhaps gotten the best of him.

Iweth turned from where he'd been nuzzling Red and Gold Flowers brown, pausing just long enough to check on Mictecath cooing over their tiny white child, to look around at the call of his bronze son. Without hesitation or pause he got to his feet, leaning down to nose at Red and Gold Flowers to join them if he wished (and quietly thumming his deep approval for his child's kind offer), and gingerly stepping around the remaining eggs, the broken shells, the candidates and any other of his children (though they too received fond nudges and whuffs of breath as he passed) to plant himself just before the little Cloudy Skies bronze, settling down like a reclining feline, and spreading a wing over the hatchling. He turned back, whirling blue-purple eyes at his brown son in encouragement, then ducked his head down until his chin dragged in the sand, scooting closer, closer, until he nuzzled right up against his sweet little child. Iweth loved all his family, his parents, his siblings, his children... but for just a moment, he gave all that love to Cloudy Skies bronze, opening up his hearts to let the little hatchling feel just how very deeply, truly he was loved.
Sweetling, of course I love you. He rumbled a deep, brassy hum for all to hear. His son might not want to take any attention away from anyone else, but Iweth had no such hesitation—and was overjoyed to show all who cared to look just how well-loved his children were. Cloudy Skies could hide beneath his wing if he wished, but the whole world should know he was beloved by his father, and his mother, and always would be. No matter what happens, even when some day you grow even larger than I, perhaps, you will always have a place beneath my wings, and in my hearts. And the one you choose will love you even more, more than you can even imagine, little starlight... Do you... want me to help you find them? Your brother will go with you too, if you'd prefer that.
To both Cloudy Skies and Red and Gold Flowers, he added, You always will have family beside you, I promise it. You are all our wonderful family, and your mother and I couldn't possibly be more proud, or love you more than we do. It made Iweth's hearts ache a bit to even begin to think of letting his precious children go... but more than anything, he wanted them all to feel the same rush of overwhelming, world-changing love he himself had felt when he had found his Theo. They deserved that love, and more.
Green Vine green crooned to Worried Bear green as she joined them, pulling away from the candidates long enough to nuzzle and coo at her. THIS was so much better than that silly scuffling that had been going on before, wasn't it? What do you think, sisters? Any of these for you? I think they're all just wonderful... I don't know how I can even begin to choose! She whuffed at Teal and Blue Spiral green and leaned in, looking almost conspiratorial—keen for sisterly gossip, and apparently not at all bothered by the huge amount of choice before them. There are a few I remember from in my egg, and I know I heard at least one thinking about me... isn't that just lovely? Today is a happy day, oh, it just makes my hearts race!
Unable to contain her glee and excitement, the little green spun in a circle, kicking up sand and she pranced, wings splaying to show herself off a bit more (and possibly knocking into any nearby candidates, though thankfully doing little more than causing a stumble or two... hopefully). Today is the BEST DAY! she trilled for all to hear.
