 Apollo hadn't noticied the dog with her, but when he did he gave a friendly gesture, offering a bit of bread he'd had from earlier. It wasn't anything but a roll, but he guessed the dog might enjoy it. "I see you've gotten into the animal taming buisness, though I thought you'd be more into summoning rather than actually taking care of animals." These were just his observations and he could obviously be wrong. Case in point was this little dog here. When hearing her acceptance he broke into a small grin once again. Done checking the dog out and ready for action. "I say we can go strictly Bukijutsu. I haven't had a swordsmen duel in such a long time and I think it'd be way more appealng than a drag out fight." His hand slid, moving a bit of clothe which wrapped around three swords hitched upon Apollo's bakside. One black, one white, and one a mixture of the two.
Apollo then moved, heading a bit away after his words so he could get properly prepared. "I'm guessing you'll want to move your dog out the way of this. Don't want innocent folk to get hurt haha." A joke to lighten the mood a bit more if anything else. Soon he reached a 10 foot mark, having some decent space between the two. Apollo began to remove all the padding he had on, including the weights under his clothing. Suzume seemed to be a good enough swordsmen. Didn't wanna hold back on such a chance to hone and test his old abilites. Once all that was done he had on nothing but a light shirt and pants, his body now free of anything that might hinder him.
"Alright. We'll go til one of us collaspes or until either of us says stop. We won't try any fatal moves on one another either. Really don't wanna get either of us hurt. With that all said you may move in at your leisure Suzume-san." He spoke whilst going down, grabbing one of the blades on his back in a hunched over manner. It was time to get this spar started! |

"Well... I'm not really into animal taming. I just thought it would be good to have a companion with me really. Cloud is really smart too and a good tracker, so having him with me would be easier than using chakra to summon something. Although now that you've reminded me, I do need to decide what I want to summon." It was true, she wanted a companion that was quite reliable and always with her. Said companion was sniffing at the roll offered to him. "Aw man, it's not even a pork bun or has meat in it." Still, a look from Suzume and he knew he had to be polite so he said "Anyway, nice to meet you. I'm Cloud by the way." Taking the roll in his mouth, he moseyed off to the side so he would be out of the way of their sparring match.
Hearing that the sparring match would only be bukijutsu, Suzume nodded her head, accepting the terms. It had been awhile since she stuck to straight bukijutsu in a match so this would be interesting. She quickly spotted the three swords he had at his waist and easily guessed he knew the three sword style. It might be harder to counter but Shunkan no Hagane was bound to give her options to counter the style. WHile Apollo put distance between them, she had to think about what techniques she would use. Apollo did not need to state that they would not use fatal moves. Although she was sure they would be fine otherwise, it would not be good if they actually got seriously hurt. Seeing him take off the pads and weights, Suzume would have to worry about how fast Apollo really was.
Still curious about his speed, Suzume decided that she wanted to see just how fast he really was. He said no fatal moves but if she made a fatal move non-fatal then that would be fine, right? "Just so you know. I am going to use a move that's usually fatal but I'm going to make it so that if it does hit you won't be truly harmed." That was a fair enough warning while being non-specific about which attack she was going to use. Instead of just rushing in though, Suzume walked towards Apollo. Although her pace almost seemed leisurely, if Apollo was really good then he would not let his guard down. When she was about three feet away though she struck. In a flash her hand went to the handle of her father's sword and she used Shunkan no Hagane's Sword Drawing Technique. Normally it was fatal, it could even cut through armor. Yet at the distance she was from, only the tip of her blade would graze his forehead, leaving an angry red mark if her attack was too fast for Apollo to keep up with.~Cloud ~ Male German Shepherd ~ Ninja Dog in training ~ "There are no limits. So the dog could talk. That wasn't so suprising, but Apollo hadn't known it had that type of attribute to him. After watching the interesting hound get into it's position Apollo's eyes turned back to Suzume, who seemed to be readying herself just as he himself did. With the armor off Apollo was at about the speed of any regular Kage, but he didn't need to let Suzume know that. She'd learn through battle how fierce he could be and the vice versa would be said about Apollo learning from her. "As long as we keep ourselves in check then I'm totally fine with whatever techniques you use." His words slid out as she began her walk. His stance was the same and unshifting, watching her with the utmost conviction. She wouldn't slip past him when he was in sensory mode.
The time for the spar to begin had finally come about! Apollo's eyes caught sight of Suzume moving forward into a strike. It was quick and if he weren't a veteran he might've been offset by the move, but it was still within his range of dodge. His body shifted, going down even further, letting the strike slide over his head with ease. "Well, she certainly does have some skill under her belt." His thoughts ran rampant as a counter-strike began to form. His hand which laid on the white katana from earlier slid forward, unsheathing the blade. She'd notice first that this didn't seem like a single handed weapon, as it's length was ridiculous. Through training he'd turned it into such and show her how much of a masterful swordsmen he'd been changed into over his years.
After the dodge and unsheath Apollo moved his arm upward, slashing at the blade with his (Quick Blade). The move was so fast that it'd probably knock her back a few feet whilst she herself recoiled from the steel clashing. The prime ability of the mentioned weaponed was the speed of it's swing, so to her it would only look as if Apollo had dodged. After his strike, if it went through or not, he'd steady himself with a single sword stance, holding the blade with eyes on Suzume. The battle had finally begun!

It seemed as if he was fast enough to dodge the Sword Drawing Technique. She had guessed that his speed was greater than her own but how great she was unable to determine that second. Seeing him duck down, she had been tempted to use taijutsu to kick but she did know that this was a bukijutsu only match. By now her blade was to her right and her left hand was moving to grasp the handle and get ready for another strike. She could see his hand moving to draw and she also noticed just how fast he was moving. Their blades did clash, she moving her own to block his, the speed and strength of it did push her back but not too far away from him.
She did not move back in and Apollo did not move in to attack. It looked as if she could not hold back, especially when he was so fast and had a weapon that was meant for speed. "Not bad... let's see if I can't bridge the gap a little more." This technique would take out a serious chunk of her chakra but it would last long enough where she was sure she could make a difference in the battle. Her mind focused, altering her state of being to that necessary for Shunkan no Hagane's Instant of Steel. For a little while (up to ten posts, her blade movements would be quicker and her reflexes would be faster as well. This would help her speed up and react more efficiently to whatever attacks Apollo would use on her.
This stacked on with Shigure Soen's passive ability, Mujitsu Ame, her movements would become harder to track as well. In a sudden flash she rushed Apollo once more, using Shunkan no Hagane's Advance of Steel to double the strength and effectiveness of her attacks to add on to the difficulty of Apollo dodging her attacks. Instead of attacking directly though, she would attack indirectly this time. Using Shigure Soen's Shinotsuku Ame, Suzume's blade would move forward to attack but instead of slashing all around Apollo, she would slash around him, waiting for him to rush into her attacks. Of course she restrained herself, if he did mess up then her blade would only graze him. With her movements even faster, stronger, and more effective now, she would see if Apollo could keep up. She would also see how well his blades would hold up against her own since the Shunkan no Hagane passive ability Vorpal Blade, made her sword twice as sharp.((That's a lot of movements but about half of them are passive anyway. It would seem that Suzume was extremely gifted in the art of Bukijutsu. In the instant of their swords clashing she had already begun her counter-strike, which amazed him. When he took on Sypher, that move alone was enough to toss the lad back more than just a few feet. "Guess shes coming in for a second go.." His stance was ready however, and his eyes never missed a beat, though he did notice her speed increase. Where was getting all that skill from? As he recalled he'd only known her mastering the Shigure Soen style and now she had this power under her belt as well? Man, he needed to keep tabs on this girl more often. Her next attack was swift and, for a brief moment, Apollo felt a bit uneasy about himself dodging it.
Though it was only a moment and his head was soon back into the duel. Apollo was a naturally quick combatant, so her using the mixture of moves didn't toss him off guard in terms of speed, but he didn't anticipate the flow of her blade and the way she moved it. His eyes watched a move he himself knew far too well and smiled. Did she forget he himself was a Shigure Soen master? So, to even out the odds dealing with that technique, Apollo would counter it with the defensive stance of said stage, the (Taki No Mai). His blade moved as Suzume rushed in with her technique, going into a circle like motion and creating what looked to be three other Apollo's at his side, but they were nothing more than wind based illusions. The first Apollo would rush into her strikes and make it seem like he had been hit, then slowly fade into wind chakra. The second would appear behind Suzume and swing, making it seem like she would be hurt, but when his swing connected it would do the same as the first Apollo.
The final Apollo, who had gone back a few feet in accordance to releasing his strike, stood with his (Quick Blade) over his right shoulder. As soon as the clone disappeared his blade would touch down on the dojo floor and a wave of all white chakra would flood outward towards Suzume. It would come in a slashing, straight foward wave. Hard to block but extremely easy to dodge. This was the power of the three sword styles (San-Juu-Roku Pond Hou).

It had been worth a try to use Shigure Soen despite Apollo being a master. It seemed techniques from the sword style would not throw him off. Yet as a master herself she was also familiar with the techniques. Seeing him move his blade and three Apollo's appearing, she could already guess it was the Taki no Mai. After all, they couldn't use anything other than bukijutsu and what else could it possibly be? The first one was hit, no surprise since that was a fake. She also ignored the one coming at her from behind since that was a fake also. Thanks to Shunkan no Hagane's Final Words, her senses were very sharp and she could not hear the two wind based illusions make any sounds that indicated they were real.
She was still on the real Apollo who had gone back a few feet. Suzume had rushed after him but then the blade came down to unless a spiraling wave of energy. This move was from neither Shunkan no Hagane nor Shigure Soen. Yet with her her heightened speed and reflexes, Suzume easily dodged to the side and out of it's way. So far Apollo seemed unfamiliar with Shunkan no Hagane's moves so those would be her main form of attack. Again she rushed right in, her blade held with both hands at he right side and appeared ready to strike. About three feet away from him though, she made her move. Said move was called Movement of Steel, and it's speed was greater than that of the Body Flicker technique. It was also hard to control yet with her reflexes enhanced, she was bound to not be too far off the mark. When she moved, all that was left was an after image of her, stopped mid-step and still ready to attack.
The real Suzume appeared about a foot to Apollo's right and a little behind his shoulder. Quickly, she turned for a simple slashing blow to his neck. Already she was fast but hopefully the after image would set him off for the shortest of moments where he attack could get through, not to kill of course since her blade would just graze his neck. This technique could also be adjusted if needed for a defensive maneuver to try and disarm Apollo. Her blade was already traveling in a horizontal cut, a circular motion, so if he managed to block or attack then she could counter with Shunkan no Hagane's Crescent Block.Techniques in Use: Instant of Steel, second post. ~Cloud ~ Male German Shepherd ~ Ninja Dog in training ~"There are no limits. The wave went crashing forward, straight past Suzume and into the dojo wall, which only blew apart from the immense strike. "I wonder if I'll have to pay for that?" Apollo thought to himself amidst the battle. She was actually a bit of a challenge, mostly because she was using a style Apollo had only seen and wasn't versed in. Her movements were quick, practicied, and, if Apollo hadn't been an experienced swordsmen, deadly. After his wave had been sent Apollo quickly went back into his prior single sword stance, watching Suzume move inward for her strike. She was fast, but Apollo was born a tracker ninja. Even without his Byakugan active he could see where she was moving. Still, the speed in which she came about was pretty impressive and Apollo supposed she deserved some type of satisfaction from it. Using his natural speed, which was already passively enhanced to that of a Kage, and a technique known as the (Renge Lotus), Apollo disappeared from his position, but in his wake was left a single image.
The image would take the blow. With his neck seemingly sliced into, the image would soon disappear once again like the wind. Unlike his last image technique, this move wasn't apart of any sword style, but was instead a move which amped up the speed of it's user. If Suzume didn't know the technique then Apollo was pretty sure she'd fall for the facade. If not, then it was worth a shot nonetheless. The real Apollo would appear on her right just as the strike would connect, causing a sort of odd twin thing going on. As the wind dispersed Apollo had already begun drawing his second Katana from it's sheath. The all black one, another blade gotten from the Toads when he was training upon their mountain. This one was a bit more deadly than the quick blade, but it would not be used properly unless Apollo was placed within a sticky situation.
Now it was time for a counter-strike. As Suzume began to react to the clones disperstion, Apollo moved in, doing something that was quite odd. Both baldes went downward, being held at his sides. Because Apollo's sheaths were on his back he couldn't properly utilize this technique, so, a stand in was required. His blades then suddenly rushed outward, moving in towards Suzume in twin directions. The power behind the strikes weren't at their optimal level simply because of the way Apollo had been using the move, but if hit Suzume wouldn't be sliced terribly, only a twin slash going across he clothing. This was another move from the Three Sword style (Nitou-Ryuu Iai: Rashoumon), which needed the use of two blades to perform. He wondered how she might counter-act this strike.

True, Suzume was not familiar with the technique that Apollo had just used. Yet when the after image was placed she noticed little things that gave away what it was. No breathing, no movement what so ever... she may have thrown Apollo off but he would not have just stood still like that. When she saw her blade pass right through his neck and the image disappear, Suzume knew he had moved. With her enhanced senses she knew that that he was to her right. Since she had already attacked, she had to improvise. Instead of stopping her movement after slicing through Apollo's neck, she kept moving her blade in a circular arc, spinning as quickly as she could. She knew she had time though, she could hear him draw a second blade from his sheath and that would give her all the time she needed. If she had been any slower then she would not have been able to move quick enough and would have been ill prepared against his attack.
Suzume had not stopped for even a moment after her blade sliced through the clone's neck, not wanting to waste a single second. She could see him move but it did not matter, she was already prepared with a proper counter attack. Her blade still traveled along a circular arc and would catch the blade coming towards her on her right. Using Shunkan no Hagane's Crescent Block, she did not meet the power of the attack head on but instead caught it and guided it. There was already strain on her blade from the power and she had to hurry to redirect it where she wanted it to go. As she controlled the weapon, she made the blade clash against Apollo's second blade to send it off course as well so that it would not hit her.
Pushing her blade off the other's, she used the Shearing effect. It would slice the air around her blade for up to a foot. Suzume's blade turned so that she would attempt a horizontal slash right across Apollo's chest. She was restrained though, her blade was not close enough to come into contact but the Shearing effect would place a nice cut in his clothes.

"Great. Jutsu time. First on the list is... Well, this should actually be much easier than I thought. Uo Tsuba, gonna get my Suiton s**t on, yeah boy. Gotta get my nature release and s**t right." Takeo, for all of his boasting, was rather rusty on his elemental techniques. I'm never going to admit that most of this is re-learning, that being a weapon specialist means that, sometimes, I forget the ninjutsu that I've slaved away learning. Takeo, being the ultimate badass, would never admit such a thing. He'd just learn everything over and over again, as many times as it would take. Thankfully, this'll only take one time. Probably more, I tend to forget simple ninjutsu like the Fish Spit. Still, a good stepping stone. Takeo inhaled sharply and regulated his chakra, as he put it, and transformed it into the water that he soon expelled in a weak, continuous stream. He practiced again, firing in small bursts, wetting the immediate area around him. Well... It's something. [1/1 Uo Tsuba]
Now that I have my water legs back, I can start with the rest of my Suiton training. Bwahaha, I'm obviously too awesome to stop now! Not that I will continue if I don't want too... Why am I discussing this with myself? I'm ******** doing this. Takeo went about the insanely difficult task of looking for a puddle. It had to be an awesome puddle, with a lot of wetness and some kind of beauty and that kind of s**t. Takeo was not going to jump his a** into an ugly puddle, that just would not happen.[1/3]
Takeo took his time looking for the right puddle of water, the one with the right amount of liquid and wetness and which one looked the most aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, and found one in the form of a deflated basketball. I need to alter my body shape somehow. Probably through chakra manipulation and sucking in what little gut I have. Might as well. Takeo inhaled sharply, and tried his hand at a disappearing act.[2/3]
And here we go, jumping into a puddle. Takeo didn't have that much confidence in his ninjutsu ability, but he decided to jump in anyways, regardless of confidence or ability. Diving in, and setting an ambush for an unknown enemy. Yay. Strangely enough, even if he figured that it didn't make much sense, Takeo disappeared into the puddle, his body contorting to fit inside the small, yet strangely spacious, puddle. This thing isn't even deep enough to sink a single Ryo. This doesn't make sens. Yet, as he jumped back out of the seemingly-spacious pocket dimension that was the puddle, Takeo didn't give it another thought.[3/3 Mizutamari no Jutsu]
Another improvement jutsu, but not one that renders the first jutsu useless. Both have their uses, as either training tools, ambush techniques, or escape options. That is... If I ever find myself with any Genin. I doubt I will, but you never know. Takeo took the few seconds he had to prepare to muse upon his future, both the immediate and far-off, of his shinobi career.[1/3]
Takeo, whilst musing, prepared for the next technique. After careful reading, he cranked out the few hand seals he needed and jumped into the extremely shallow puddle of water finding himself in what seemed to be a pocket dimension. Odd, now I need to master the next technique to, from what I can tell, teleport. Sounds like a whole lot of fun, woo-hoo. Takeo made a mental note to be far more enthused about learning ninjutsu in the future.[2/3]
Here goes nothing. Takeo sighed, a few small bubbles of water marking the puddle he occupied at the moment, and felt his body surge with chakra. This was all deliberate, of course, as he needed chakra to activate his water-teleporting technique, whatever the hell it was called. Takeo jumped from the puddle and found he was a scant few feet away from the initial puddle he had entered, but that in and of itself was an improvement. It meant he had the technique down, and while further practice would be in order, he knew the basic mechanics of the technique. And that's all he needed.[3/3 Mizutamari Yusuo no Jutsu]

It seemed this fight just couldn't properly lean in Apollo's favor. Suzume knew how to counteract any move he'd throw up and all he did was play the defensive. It was all getting tiring in all honesty. Though Apollo thought he'd be serious, he'd been holding back a tad bit in order to stop himself from harming Suzume. He now knew that had been a bad idea. As his blades collided with hers Apollo could feel her movements become increasing fierce. The pure sharpness of her weapon had been enhanced tremendously. It was once again another one of those moves Apollo had only seen, but had yet to master. So she'd gotten an upperhand in the fight, as Apollo's weapons went to their opposite ends, Suzume's attack, or rather, defense, properly doing it's job. Not only did it stop his body from properly reacting with a counter, but it also put him in a very dangerous position. Her circle attack hadn't stoped at just stopping any type of reaction, but it'd also given her the time to ready for another attack.
Her sword went back as Apollo attempted to adjust his stance, only aving enough time to bring his blade into a suitable block position. That's when natural ability kicked in and years of fighting took the reigns. The one thing that Apollo had that Suzume was currently lacking was the veteran like front he'd gotten from participating in battle after battle. His moves might need a touch up, but his natural talent as a Shinobi shined even in his current age. So as her blade began it's way upward everything for Apollo would come to a slow down. His eyes closed and darkness engulfed his world. "Thump.." A single noise could be heard and it was the beating of Suzume's heart, which resounded within Apollo's mind, holding a red coloration while his resounded with a blue one. "Thump..Thump.." He could feel her hearts movements. It's tempo, speed, and much more. That soon spread to her entire chest cavity, Apollo being able to feel her breathing.
Apollo's breathing soon fit hers, as throughout the fight they'd been so close to see the exchange of air coming from one another. His body moved in a flowing yet graceful motion, dodging Suzume's strike as if it were nothing but second nature. Of course the fact that Apollo was naturally faster than Suzume and that his speed was already heightened thanks to the (Renge Lotus) probably helped him a bit with the movement. As her strike missed Apollo prepared a move of his own. Both blades quickly went towards his shoulders, much like the technique from before. "Nana-Juu...." Words imprinted acorss his mind as his arms flew downward, chakra coming forth across both blades. "..Ni Pound Hou!!" Just like before, twin chakra streams came rushing forward. One black and one white, both headed towards Suzume. What she might notice though is that they weren't aimed to hit her, but instead went past her on both sides. You see with the waves there she could no longer properly move about with all her fancy footwork and she'd have no choice but to face Apollo head on. Didn't matter though, as he'd give her little choice in deciding how she would go about getting out of this.
It was now time for a face off! Apollo rushed inward towards Suzume as the waves continued, his speed being much faster than the waves intial release. One blade quickly went outward, attemping to slash across her upper shoulder. The other went for a cleaving strike across her gut. Neither attacks would do any real damage if she were hit. Only mild slashes across the skin. Now it was time to see what Suzume might do.

Suzume was giving it her all, she really was. At this point she was determined to win or at least go for a draw. Apollo was probably one of the best swordsmen in the village, if not possibly the only one. If at her current level she could even tie the that would be a great victory for her. She had thought with her crescent block that she had him off tempo, his swords had clashed into one another and his force redirected. The reach from her actual blade had been extended by a foot with shearing, it seemed she would be the one to land the first blow. Then she saw him close his eyes, something was happening but she could not tell what yet. Then he dodged her blow and it had seemed so effortless on his part. For a second she did not know how he had pulled it off, then she remembered he was a master of Shigure Soen... Gofuu Juu.
When he dodged, Suzume instantly moved back a few feet as he prepared his next attack. When he used his next move, chakra was unleashed from his blades. Yet they did not attack her, the streams of chakra instead went past her on both sides. They did not dissipate though and Suzume knew what he meant to do. He was charging in for a head on attack. There was limited movement, she could not attempt another crescent block. She could try Shigure Soen but he was a master as well, she doubted they would work on them. She needed more time to think. Suzume mimicked Apollo, eyes closing, she could hear his heart beat, his breathing, she only had seconds before his attack. She had to think about how she would successfully counter. Suzume reflected on how she had beaten Sypher in their one sparring match and the answer came to her. Go back to the basics.
Opening her eyes, she saw him heading towards her, horizontal slashes to her shoulder and to her stomach... perfect. The seconds seemed to stretch on for minutes in this state as she moved. Her timing was as good as it could possibly be with Gofuu Juu. Go back to the basics, if she could not win then she could at least tie. With her blade held in front of her Suzume ducked and rushed forward to meet Apollo. Using the Shunkan no Hagane Style, she kept one hand on the handle while her other hand placed itself on the back of the blade to give it extra strength. She had ducked in low to avoid the slash to her shoulder, her blade would block the second that was supposed to attack her stomach. Her blade blocked Apollo's and she would use her own strength to try and stop it. Whether she stopped it or not did not matter since she went into her second move.
The Forward Grind, she tilted her blade to point it at Apollo, keeping his blade at bay while her blade ground along it and she moved forward. She tilted it just right so that she would perform a basic stab, aiming right for Apollo's chest and straight to his heart. Of course she would not stab him, he would just feel a pin p***k if the tip of her blade made contact.

This was truly a fight which was pushing Apollo's swordsmen skills to it's limits, though he supposed with Suzume being as masterful a swordsmen as he himself this fight would do such a thing. Even in this hostile enviroment, two twin waves of chakra vying to crush and crash into her, she still thought of some way to continue. It showed her natural ability as a warrior and it was something Apollo admired in her. That trait, which all Cloud Shinobi should have, was embedded un this masterful young lady. Without a doubt, in this fight alone, she'd become a wonderous asset to Apollo's bunch of comrades. If she could handle herself so well against him, she could handle the world.
As his blades came across her he quickly took notice of the same movement he himself had just used. It made him smile honestly, to see such a masterful Shigure Soen user at such a young age. Just as he had done, she had dodged his more powerful strike, but unlike Apollo, she slid her blade across the strike which was intended for her lower stomach. In all but an instant she tried for a killing blow towards his chest. He knew though that she would not try to kill him and that it would do nothing more than a p***k if it had landed. Sadly, it would not and here's why. Apollo quickly shifted his body weight upon a single foot as soon as Suzume's blade began it's grind. In those moments he used a mixture of the (Renge Lotus) and the (Mijutsu Ame), in order to create an image which seemed almost life like. The blade did in fact continue forward and as it did the image of Apollo stood with his hands at his sides, blades falling from them.
It would seem as if he'd given up and that the match was over, but instead she'd see that this was nothing more than a masterful illusion. The real Apollo had gone up, going over in the instant the strike was about to land. His final and third blade had been unsheathed as the flip began. Now, as he stood behind her and his blades fell to the dojo floor his words would slip outward as his cold steel flew straight past her head. That was of course if she knew he was behind her, but he was sure that this move was a bit more advanced than she could keep up with. Then again, he could be wrong. As his blade, a single gold katana, lay on next to her neck Apollo gave a smile. Let's she if she could do anything against this."I do believe that's...checkmate.."

It seemed as if this was working and that she had the final move. She had noticed the shift in body weight but she had not guessed that it was an illusion until too late. She had been so focused on moving forward that she did not notice that this Apollo was not breathing, she did not notice the shadow beneath her as Apollo flew above to land behind her. The swordsmen's blades clattered to the floor just as she felt the vibration from him landing behind her. It was an illusion, she still had a chance for a tie, she just had to turn quickly enough. Suzume tried to turn so that her blade would be at his neck as well but even though she had narrowed the gap between their speeds, she had not bridged it.
If she had realized a second or so sooner then she might of ended this with both of their blades at each other's neck. Her own blade was still too far away when she felt his against her neck. Suzume should have thought about ducking when she moved but it was too later now. She could not move back or forward, not even with her movement of steel. The waves were still to either side of her so no chance of moving off to the side. No, this time she could not think of a way that would get her out of this safely. "Damn..." she murmured, yet she was not at all angry, the fight had been a good one. She smiled slightly and said "Alright... I give."
