((Well, you guys make it way too easy. haha. And yes yes, credit is given. That is a pretty clever shipping name.))
In almost no time, Avan's name was called over the PA system. My my, how three hours pass by so quickly.
The boy made his way to the arena and took his place across the field from Cress. He was a a tiny bit annoyed that the gym leader was late, but hey, Avan was the one who asked for a battle so soon after the last, so he didn't blame him.
From a Pokeball, Avan called out Kali.

((Henrietta and Eunmi were the ones who lay in each others arms, lips slowly caressing one another's, savouring the electric delight, the taste, the smell, the touch of their warm embrace as it sent shivers of pleasure through their bodies.
Or at least that's how I choose to remember that scene))
Wayne lay back on the grass. Rain clouds were forming overhead. He could hear distant thunder, like someone dropped a drum kit down the stairs only without the cymbals.
"Here I thought we were done with the storm," he said, sighing as he brought Xtransceiver up in front of him. Scrolling through the list with quick swipes of his finger, he eventually found the name he was trying to reach. He'd called her so many times in the past few days.
It was getting impossible to reach her, it had been for a while now.
"Tess..." Wayne frowned as he tapped her name. A picture came up, but it was out of date. She still had black hair then. But one thing hadn't changed and it was her expression; calm and quiet. Most people would see it as the expression of a b***h who thought herself a cut above. Well, they'd probably be right.
"Probably..." Wayne muttered, "...not gonna answer. Okay, here goes."
He pressed [CALL] and it began to dial. He waited, the tone beeping second after second. Wayne waited, eventually for too long. He let out a sigh again. Where was she? And pushed the button on the side to put the Xtransceiver back into stand-by.
He lay down for a few more seconds, staring at the black clouds now right above him. And then his wrist began to buzz. Wayne sat up with a jolt.
"Tess!" He said excitedly, opening the call up. "Whoa! I can't believe it! I've been trying to get in touch with you forever!" "Wayne," Tess said slowly. She didn't match her picture. Where her hair had once been black, it was now the purest of white. A relic from the past. "What do you want?" "I err," Wayne ground to a halt with that. Well... "I'm your boyfriend? Y'know?" "Oh right. That," she said, "Must've slipped my mind."
"Well, I figured you'd like to know: I just won my first badge!" he smiled confidently, pride. "That's cute." "And err, thanks for the Hitmonlee. I mean, he's a bit of a handful but-" "Whatever. You're welcome. Anyway, I'm breaking off this relationship." "What." "I thought I made myself clear. You can keep the Hitmonlee, I won't need it."
"Tess!" "...Yes?" "I," Wayne grit his teeth. What else did you say? "You. I love you, Tess."
And she just stared, expression not changing. Then she said, "Goodbye, Wayne."
Wayne tried calling her back, but all that returned was the message CALLER ID BLOCKED. He sat alone, mourning over his Xtransceiver, shivering in shock. Thunder rolled and the rain broke through, the first drop striking the back of his neck. And then the downpour caught him.
((Take it like a b***h, Wayne.))

Henrietta had escaped the rain by heading to the hotel and waiting for Wayne. Of course, he didn't know the room number so she'd have to wait there. How long had she been waiting? Who knew? All she knew was that she felt gross. Gross but proud. Proud and excited. She'd done it! She'd won! It had been a glorious battle and she'd won!
"Melty, let's kick the next gym's a**, too," she whispered to the candle in her arms, to avoid anyone hearing her and paying attention.

The rain battered against the coach window. Wayne rested his head on the glass, staring out. It felt as if a part of him had been gutted, like an empty space existed inside his chest. Worse still, it made him embarrassed. To be taken for a fool like that. Or genuinely believing... And she didn't care, did she? Or maybe it was a joke. And she was laughing.
Stop it.
His hand gripped into a fist. It pushed the glass, threatening to crack it. Wayne scrunched up his eyes. He remembered her. Meeting. Talking. Falling. And all these memories that he'd once prized so fondly were now tarnished. As if a great black smear had been crossed against them. Scarred.
Stop it.
He grit his teeth, trying to block the images out. The thoughts. The fact that you turned out to be worthless, Wayne Lee. Everything you thought that really mattered turned out to be a goddamn lie. The fist turned into a claw of fingers that gripped hard against his skull.
"For god's sake stop it..." he said quietly, angrily to himself, "Do not do this again. Stop it."
Frustration.
"Stop the coach!" he yelled. "But kid, we're ******** stop it right ******** now!" "Whoa, okay, hold yer pokeymany approximation of horses."
Wheels squeaked high pitch, stopping in the mud. Wayne disembarked, the rain as torrential as ever, assaulting his body. The wind kicked up, blasting his hair and gluing it to his face. Chug chugging, the coach left, hot air surrounding it and causing steam in the cold weather. Wayne checked his surroundings. Some nondescript route. He put his hands in his pockets.
Cold weather clears heads.
He'd walk the rest of the way.

So, Henrietta was left alone. Stood up, so to speak. Back in the room she cursed herself for making such an obviously stupid proposal. Except not too loud, she didn't want to wake Salieri. Melty was left to wander the room but he was more relaxed terrorizing the sleeping neighbors by consuming their life force, slowly. Not murder this time, but a good snack while Henrietta showered.
After she exited the shower, now dressed in jeans and a hoodie, maybe a shirt under that or something, black jeans, red hoodie, she sat on her bed. With a sigh she looked around to see Melty had returned. Course, as far as she knew, he'd never left.
"So, what next?" she asked.

KICKING OFF THE NEW WEEK WITH SOME ACTION!
Cress released Panpour to face Kali. This one designed to match up against Avan who had(if I recall) no wins, one draw, one loss, and zero badges. If it weren't for the draw, he'd actually be facing a Lilipup.
So! The battle began!
"Challengers go first." Cress announced.

Rain. Luka had never liked the rain. When it rained, it usually meant that someone was incredibly sad if pathetic fallacy was to be believed. He'd been walking around the city for a couple of hours, exploring to see what the place was like.
He saw the ruins of the hospital and the Pokémon Centre, the huge refuge tents, the still traumatised trainers and the rain just kept on falling.
One building did stand out though. The Gym. It stood over the city with a charming aesthetic that just made it feel so inviting. He walked in and found the restaurant with the glass window looking out over the arena. Someone was already battling down there but as Luka slumped down in a chair for a nice warm cup of tea, he really couldn't have cared less about the battle.

Once the coach had stopped in Nacrene City, Robert and his Pokemon would exit the coach. It was around noon-time and rain began coming down. inside the Nacrene station, Robert looked over the poster for the directions to the new dojo.
Robert would dash out into the rain from the station to head to the dojo. Due to the crowd of fighters surrounding the dojo, it was pretty easy to pick out. However, it meant there'd be a long wait, and Robert didn't have an umbrella. However, a little ingenuity on Beatrix's part solved that problem by using Psychic to create a sort of umbrella over Robert and the other Pokemon, which gave quite a bit of relief to Garnet. Even though she had been trained to be more resistant to water, that didn't make her like it any less.
As Robert waited, he saw a side door open. A man in a cowled robe with a Meinshao exited. At first Robert thought it to be Grom, but this man was smaller in stature and the robe looked different. Still, he took nothing to chance. Breaking away from the registration crowd, Robert followed him into a nearby cafe.
When he saw the man take his hood off, he saw who it was. It was John Masters, the owner of the dojo. The man took a seat with his Meinshao. "Man, that media crew just won't give me a break." John spoke to himself. "Publicity for the dojo is one thing, but that doesn't mean they need my whole life story."
Robert smiled a bit and walked up to John. Seeing them approach, John gave a sigh. The Meinshao, however, noticed something familiar about Robert's Combusken.
"Look, I'm not giving autographs. Please, I need some private time." John said in a stressed tone of voice. However, the Meinshao got up and started sniffing at the Combusken, which caught John's attention. "Seems my Meinshao has some interest in your Combusken. I don't think my Blaziken would approve of her mate checking out other Pokemon." he jested.
Robert smiled casually. "I don't think she'd mind considering it's her daughter." he said casually. John raised an eyebrow, his face registering some confusion. "What are you talking about?" John asked.
Robert crossed his arms and tilted his head to the side. "Ten years ago, Iron Island in Sinnoh, a kid shielding an injured Riolu from a pack of Geodudes. Ring any bells?" he replied.
John's face lit right up as he stood. "Ah! So you're that kid! Well, I have to say, you look like you've grown to be quite a tough kid." he spoke before releasing his Blaziken. "Blaziken, take a look. That's your daughter." John said. Robert watched as the Meinshao, Blaziken and his Garnet reunited.
"And I take it that Lucario is the Riolu you saved?" John asked as he sat back down and offered Robert a seat. Robert took the offered seat across from John at the table. "Yup, the same one. This is Freya, and I named my Combusken Garnet because her flames are like a red garnet gemstone. And this Gardevoir is Beatrix, my newest addition to my family." Robert said.
John gave a nod and smiled. "Well they all seem to be in excellent condition. I was right to leave that Torchic egg with you." John spoke before relaxing in his seat. "So, are you here for the tournament, or did you stop by to say hi?" John asked.
"I've come to compete. I need to get stronger as a fighter." Robert said calmly. John gave a nod to the boy's request. "A good goal. But the question I always ask when people give me that response is this: why do you want to get stronger?" John asked in a serious tone of voice, his eyes looking upon Robert's face.
Robert took in a bit of a sigh as he recounted what had happened. "Yesterday, I was in the Dreamyard helping out some trainers that were being attacked by the Munna. Eventually we came to an understanding that the Munna were being terrorized by a group called Team Plasma, and because of that, they saw all humans as enemies. The girls and several other trainers made a promise to drive Plasma away from the Dreamyard, but they had to leave behind one Pokemon each. I remained behind with the Munna as well. While the other trainers went topside to fight Team Plasma, one of their strongest attacked me and the Munna, as well as killing a Musharna. I fought back, but the guy was too strong and skilled. He's built like a tank and wears a robe. He used some sort of machine to suck in the mist they gave off and stole the Pokeballs that were left behind. When I confronted the guy later that night, he had already handed them off to someone else. I failed to protect the Munna and I failed to protect the Pokemon of the other trainers that were left in my care. I've let so many people down. I need to get stronger so I can protect others and get back what was stolen." Robert explained.
"I can understand your desire to protect others, but you can't let your failures consume you. If you do, you'll only hold yourself back." John explained. "I had heard on the news of an investigation into what happened in the Dreamyard. At first I thought Team Plasma was just trying to separate people and Pokemon because of their views on Pokemon/human relations. But this? If what you say is true about the Dreamyard, then they are just another criminal organization hiding behind an innocent message." John spoke before taking in a breath.
"This is why I prefer the martial arts. A silvered tongue can lie so well that people believe the words to be truth, but the body never lies. In combat, emotions are laid bare. Every action betrays a person's thoughts, their beliefs, their courage and their cowardice. I've learned how to read people by fighting them." John spoke as he relaxed.
"However, today is only registration. The tournament will be tomorrow. Do you know what the prizes are?" John asked. Although Robert knew every tournament had some prize for the winner, he had no idea what the prize was. "No. I only heard about the tournament on the TV. I left Striaton before I heard the entire thing."
John chuckled a bit. "Rushing head-first into danger. That sounds about right." John jested. "Well, I won't spoil the surprise then. If you want to find out the prize, you'll just have to win." John spoke.

Takamaru again followed silently behind Robert, Iron Hide once again snoozing in his pokeball. Takamaru had just finished putting away his note pad and pen, he took notes on the tips, when they entered the cafe.
the youth looked around taking in the sights and sounds, he could swear that he could hear the sound of an Accordion floating around the air, kind of like a back ground music set. "Ne ne, Robert, im going to go look around m'kay." said the youth whilst tugging on his traveling companions sleeve. He then said his farewell to both Robert and John. "ill come find you once i get done looking around." he said while walking towards the Exit.
once he excited the Cafe Tk went looking around the shop that was made from one of the warehouses. from which he bought a Town map, an Xtransceiver, and various other Pokemon care products. Once the newly bought items where securly placed with'in his back pack Tk would wounder until he came across the Nacrene Museum. "whats this?" he asked no one but himself, just having finished putting various peoples numbers in his Xtransceiver he decided to explorer the inside of the magnificent structure.

Kijin continues to walk down the path out of town moving past the spot where he caught Blitzle chuckling softly as he continues down the path towards Nacrene city. His eyes look along the grass as he spots some pokemon he saw earlier and as well as some more Blistzles, his vision turns upward as he gets a look up at the sky running through the memories he has had up to date as well as some of the things he has seen.
It wasn't until he stepped onto the bridge making him almost loose balance catching himself before falling into the water he sighs lightly rubbing his head lightly while counting across the bridge,"Oh wow...got to pay more attention." He continues through the woods soon starting to get the feeling of something wet hitting his head then completely getting dosed by rain he gives a large sigh as he starts to get wet,"Great." He starts to run across the bridge before arriving in Nacrene city.
He finally arrives in Nacrene city he blinks a little feeling a bit odd considering all the buildings were warehouses and it seemed like this was a little bit strange but he has seen odder things. He shrugs that thought off before running off towards the pokemon center to get some rest, get dry and maybe a little bit of info. He finally arrives at the pokemon center of Nacrene city he quickly enters the building shaking his head a little spraying some droplets of water off his head as comes heads for the counter of the pokemon center talking to Nurse Joy finding out what there was in the city as well as looking for a room to stay in. He nods and thanks her before handing over the pokeballs to the nurse to heal them as he heads upstairs to the rooms.
He enters the room heading over to the window to look outside to see the rain falling down pattering against the window he stood there watching as the dark sky seemed to stretch off into the distance but he soon rubs his head a little trying to get the water off his head."Well might as well get myself dry first." He heads off to the bathroom and starts to take a shower.

((Hey guys, if anyone wants to set up something with N and their character, shoot me a PM and hopefully we can work something out. It’s hard to involve N with everyone’s character, but it’s important to the plot. So if you have ideas, I wanna hear them, but otherwise it’ll be similar to the games. Like the following…))
As Takamaru started to walk to the doorway of the museum, N stepped out at the same time, blocking the other trainer’s way. He was putting a gym badge that looked like a purple book spine into his badge case with a sigh. As he finished the task, he looked up at Takamaru, recognizing the trainer from Striaton City.
Before Takamaru could speak, N beat him to the punch. “I... want to see things no one can see. The truths of Pokémon inside Poké Balls. The ideals of how Trainers should be. And a future where Pokémon have become perfect.”
The green haired trainer turned his head to see other trainers walking around with their pokemon, mostly trying to find shelter from the rain. If Takamaru looked closely at N's side, he may notice that there was a small area of space where there was no rain. Instead, it fell around in the outline of a small, foxlike creature.
Regardless of what he thought of Takamaru, the trainer was one of N’s candidates. Because N had just received another badge, he was on a new level of power. Now was the time to put another candidate to the test. The first who had been personally tested by N was Salieri. And now Takamaru would go through a similar treatment.
“Do you feel the same way, trainer?”

Salieri looked around the hotel room upon awakening, seeing that Eunmi was gone. She hadn’t expected Emi to wait for her to wake up, but she was surprised. Usually, it was Salieri who was the early waker. I must have needed more rest then I thought. I’m feeling pretty good now though.
In a lazy somersault forward, she got off of her bed and grabbed her belt. She released her pokemon and then handed Chen Zhen the TV remote. “You can figure it out,” she told the Pansage, who looked at the device with some confusion. Sal nodded lazily to Henrietta. “Morning,” she yawned before stumbling off into the shower.
A short time passed, and Salieri came out of the bathroom with the complimentary white bathrobe on. Steam came out in a cloud from the hot shower while Sal scanned the room. Her team, having nothing to do, had just sat watching TV after they figured out how to work the remote. It wasn’t anything special, just the news. As her eyes moved over to her bag, she noticed two notes sticking out of the back pocket of the pants she had worn the day before. Huh.
Curiously, she took them out and examined the first note. “Robby Tobb?” she whispered to herself so she didn’t wake up the girls. Oh, this must have been the recipe for the stew that the big kid had made the day before. Did he sneak it into her pocket? Sal, in a rare moment of softness for her, put a hand over her heart and smiled warmly. That was so sweet of him.
Now let’s see here…carrots, potatoes….Moonsharn?...does he mean moonshine? How much moonshine….wait, what? No, that can’t be. Th-that’s impossible....But it has to be edible if he was eating it, right? She scratched her chin, then shrugged as she slipped the recipe into her pokebelt’s bag that seemed to always have room for her stuff. Well, I should try making it tonight for my pokemon. I’m sure they’d love a cooked meal.
Sal tucked that note into her belt bag and unfolded the second one, written by Eunmi. Her eyes quickly scanned over the letters, and right after they stopped the note slowly got scrunched into a ball in her fist. “Emi….” the Battle Girl growled as a vein appeared on her forehead. Now, she finally turned to Henrietta, who was sitting on her bed. “Did you know about this? Grrr, when I get a hold of Emi I’m going to-“
Suddenly, her attention snapped to the TV as the news began to cover a different story.
“-lining up for the grand opening of the Masters Dojo in Nacrene City. In celebration, the owner is hosting a tournament for all to participate in. However, what sets this apart from other tournaments is that there will be no Pokemon being used in the tournament. Registration is being held today, and the battle itself will take place tomorrow, right here at the former warehouse that has been beautifully renovated for this new business. And now, a few words from the owner, John Masters…"
In response to the story, her pokemon slowly craned their necks back to see a happy yet slightly evil looking grin appear across Salieri’s face. “Well what have we here?" Her eyes shifted over to Henrietta, and the girl's shinai.
"Does this kind of thing hold any interest for you? I've been eyeing that wooden sword of yours for a while now. It's nice, but you don't seem like the type of person to use it." Sal folded her arms. "But you should enter this anyway. I know I'm going to, no question."

Eep! Salieri's sudden somersault into the land of the awake people surprised Henrietta. She watched the other girl head into the shower and, having nothing else to do, she watched the television. Before the report of the tournament there was one more.
"Striaton Hospital and Pokemon Center were destroyed today. Witnesses say it was due to an Absol breathing purple fire. We are asking that people be on the look out for such an Absol as it is believed to belong to a terrorist group."
"Hum, that's scary," she said and she looked down at Melty, who snickered softly.
Soon after that, Salieri emerged from the shower and Henrietta looked at her, then the television and then her again when she was spoken to.
"N-no I didn't know any-" she stopped herself when she noticed that Salieri's attention was gone from her. Then it was back, like a flash and Henrietta looked at her shinai.
"Th-this? N-no, I don't think I can win. Not even with this, h-hum." Then she stood up and she looked over at Salieri. "I-i do need to train though. I-in case I have to face that man in robes. S-so I-i'll be going. H-hum." She reached into her pocket and produced half of the bill. Even if she didn't have to pay for it, she felt obliged. If Salieri wouldn't take it directly then she'd set it on the bed before heading for the door.

After the media had passed by the small diner, John stood up . "Well then, I have to start tallying up the numbers so far of everyone who's registered and toss your name in. But come with me. I'd like to introduce you to my family." John spoke before he began to head out of the diner. Robert followed close behind with his Pokemon back to the dojo.
John and Robert entered through the side door which led up to a second floor. While the first floor was the dojo and public areas, the second floor was John's private residence. Inside was a lovely woman about John's age, a teen girl dressed in a white gi that was about Robert's age, and a five year old boy playing video games. "Hello hun. I have an old friend who's decided to visit me all the way from Iron Island." John said as he put away his hooded cloak. The woman smiled and said hello. The teen girl cast a glance at him before she turned around and started to walk away. And the boy, well he was too focused on his game to really notice anything.
"Anyways, this is my wife Angie. Ms. Antisocial there is my daughter Lilly, and my son who has his eyes glued to the tube is Atrus." John spoke. Robert smiled a bit and gave a short bow of his head to the missus. "Pleasure to meet you." Robert replied.
John sighed as he looked over at Lilly. "It wouldn't kill you to say hi to our guest." John said. Lilly cast a sharp glance back to her father. "Last kid my age you brought over did nothing but hit on me. I'm not interested in getting a boyfriend." she snapped before walking down the stairs to the work-out gym. John shook his head. "You'll have to forgive her. She thinks I'm trying to set her up for a date. But what I would like is for her to actually start making friends." John explained.
Robert gave a nod to John. "Well, I hope she comes out of her shell. Being alone is no picnic." Robert said.
"Anyways that staircase leads to my business office in the workout section of the gym. If you want to get yourself in shape before tomorrow's tournament, feel free to use it." John spoke with a smile.
"Thanks, I will." he spoke before looking to Garnet. "Why don't you stay up here for a little bit Garnet? I'm sure you'll want to spend some time with your mom and dad." he spoke, referring to the Blaziken and Meinshao. Garnet gave a nod and headed over to spend time with her parents, while Freya and Beatrix followed Robert down into the workout portion of the dojo.
Lilly was throwing kicks and punches at a hanging punching bag while a Machamp held the bag in place. She noticed Robert and two Pokemon coming down, but instead of the boy coming over to her, Robert went for a treadmill on the other side of the gym. Freya and Robert each got on a treadmill and Robert set the pace for a nice, hard run of a 6 minute mile for 15 minutes.
As time went on, Lilly noticed that Robert wasn't giving her any attention. Either she had scared him off from trying to hit on her, or he had someone else, she thought.
After the run, Robert turned the speed down to a nice walking speed in order to get their bodies relaxed and heart rates down. Grabbing a towel and a bottle of water after the walk was over, Robert wiped the sweat from himself before cracking open the bottle and handing it to Freya to drink. Once Freya had her fill, she'd hand it back to Robert, who would drink the rest. Beatrix did some mental exercises by using Telekinesis to lift weights to give herself more mental endurance.
Lilly kept her eyes discretely on Robert and his Pokemon. She had a close friendship with her Machamp, and the more she witnessed how Robert interacted with his Pokemon, the more she saw a similar bond. Robert and Freya then dropped to the ground in a push-up position and began pumping out push-ups. Freya and Robert kept direct eye contact as they went up and down in time with each other. While Robert had a strong and compassionate relationship with each of his three Pokemon, there was little doubt that his bond with Freya was by far the strongest. After a series of Push-ups, Freya and Robert would help each other in doing resistance sit-ups. They interlocked their legs and grabbed each other's hands. As one would sit-up, the other would try to keep the person in the up position then that person tried to go down into the resting position, and vice versa. This made for a more intense workout than normal sit-ups because it provided resistance to movement, making the ab muscles work harder.
Once Robert, Freya and Beatrix finished their workouts, they would head to the steam room to relax. Lilly kept herself silent, wondering what kind of person Robert really was. Most any guy she knew was either all over her or had someone else in their life. Still though, she figured she would find out once the tournament came around. She was going to be one of the contestants, and like her father, she was good at reading people when it came to fighting.
