Lena Ryder
After Lena got shot, it seemed that life wanted to give her a break from the usual s**t. She got several lucky breaks. First and best was that Naum Kisin's arrival was delayed by sandstorms and earthquakes further east; his ETA was projected to be at least a month later than first expected.
The second good thing was that Luna and her Legions seemed to be withdrawing, no longer attacking their part of Giza as much as usual. Once a week, they'd get a pretty nasty attack, but for the most part the Spinatologists seemed concerned with rebuilding their temple.
These two events made life much easier for all the staff and patrons of Tender Sugar. The rebels seemed cautiously optimistic about their effort to eliminate Naum and Luna, especially since they had more time to plan it now.
A personal victory for Lena was that her goddamned arm was finally almost healed. She could move her fingers again, which meant that if she absolutely had to, she could fire her gun. Thankfully, that hadn't been necessary yet. And no one else had seen her mark or discovered her identity; Sol and Honey remained the only ones.
At the moment, Lena was on her way back to Tender Sugar. She'd gone out for a walk alone, telling her concerned coworkers that she needed some time to think. Which, of course, she did... Mainly about what she would do when her father eventually arrived.
When she got back to the bar, Sol was there outside, perched on her usual barrel and reading her book, her back to Lena. She smirked a little and went right up to the girl, resting her good elbow lightly on the top of the shorter female's head. "Is it just me, dear, or are you shrinking?"
