The difference between the good guys and the bad guys
As the item's finished being placed on each person's desk Kael shook his head as he walked around to his seat. "The item's are nothing more then to test to see if you have any hope of learning a simple low level spell in each of the schools of magic. Should you not hold such ability you will find that the item will darken until it becomes black in your hand. Should there be even a spark of hope that you can learn one the item will light up with the element." He said sitting down as he looked to Ama. "So to start off this class the item's will be passed around the class until each student has held each one atleast once" Kael said to them with a smile. He didn't inform them that there guardian's in this played a rather large part as a great deal of the time a person who usually could not do magic on there own were assisted by the guardians.
Is whether they use a human shield or make themselves one.

Luca nodded and held the fire item. the item started to glow faintly.
Kojo blinked and lowered his sphere onto the item and it glowed brighter. "hmmmm."

Xandra poked Kai with her paw. "Well? Might as well try and see if you can get any of them to light up," she said.

The difference between the good guys and the bad guys
"Uhm yea" Kai said looking at the orb that was on his desk. Reaching down he picked it up. A wind symbol seemed to be etched into it. Holding onto it the orb began to darken until becoming pitch black. "I don't think I will be able to do air then" he said looking at the dark orb as he set it down on his desk. The item slowly returning to it's normal color before floating off to the next student.
Kai continued this for several more elements. Earth, Fire, Light and Shadow all ended up the same each one failing and going black. "I don't think that I was cut out for magic" Kai said shaking his head as he leaned over and put his head on his desk.
Is whether they use a human shield or make themselves one.

Xandra stepped down from his shoulder to the desk and rubbed her cheek against his ear. "There's still water to try," she said. "How 'bout we try it together?"

Koyuki had already predicted what would happen, but did as she was told. Grabbing the water item, she saw it glow very faintly and was surprised by the outcome. Passing it along she checked the others, but they ended up turning black though the last of the elements she received was different. The shadow element glowed brighter than when she held the water element, but was still a somewhat weak glow. Nevertheless, seeing this element react with her scared her a bit.
Yu, being curious since he was a cat, jumped up onto Koyuki's lap to see her potential. He had seen the glow and looked up at her, worried as well by the feelings he felt coming from her.

luca grabbed the items as they passed his desk. most of them turned black except for the shadow item. "Well this ones obvious" He said chuckling.
"I'd hope so boy!" Kojo said laughing. "You are from a family of witch doctors."

Lifting his head up at the guardian's nudge Kai looked as the next item slowly floated over towards him. It had the water symbol as Kai simply shook his head. He was positive that it would end just as the last one had and turning black as he reached out and grabbed it. For a few moment's the item did nothing neither glowing nor darkening as if it was thinking. "Shouldn't it be doing something" Kai muttered shaking it a few times. Had he broke it he wondered. It took a bit but a small glow slowly started to emanate from the orb as Kai looked at it. It wasn't strong at all and seeing it with the lights of the class was difficult but he could make out the glow behind the symbol.

Penny had watched the others and heard what the teacher said. She felt worried that she wouldn't have an element because she didn't have a guardian yet. She took the little fox out of her back pack but let her have a few more snacks before she looked at the light orb. She sighed and held it, thinking it would have gone dark. However, it seemed to glow brightly and she was shocked. "W-Wow, I have light magic." she said with a smile.
Molly yawned a bit at Shane's speech. She had heard it before and knew that he just did it to scare the kids.
Loki managed to get free of Molly and was up in the rafters. He was glaring at her as he listened. "God I hate her." he said, though he knew that wasn't true. Why do I feel so weird around her? he asked himself.

Lenna's ears flatten when she's picked up, obviously unhappy that she had been caught. Unfortunately she had a reputation of being lazy to keep up, so she just stayed wherever the girl decided to put her and do her best to look sleepy.

Walking around the room now Amaterasu watched each of the students. They got the hang of the task easily tho she didn't agree to kael simply lying to them straight out like that. Just because the orb darkened did not mean there was no hope of learning magics from that branch. It simply meant that learning it would take much much longer and devoted practice towards it Anyone could become an elementalist like Kael if they trully wished.

Xandra purred, and the orb in Kai's hand glowed a tiny bit brighter. "There we go. See? Told you you could do it." She didn't mention that her powers were water-based. She didn't want Kai to think it was just because of her. That would make him feel worse about himself, and she didn't want that. Besides, he made the orb glow on his own as well as with her help.

Looking at Xandra Kai let out a small laugh. "Guess it is possible" Kai said looking at the orb from several angles. He didn't understand why the orb increased in brightness but figured his potential raised with his mood. "What now tho" he chimmed puttikg the orb on the table as the glow faded.
