Watching as the other students rammed their trees any which way, Marosa decided to try the same thing and hip-check the current tree, then punch it a few times for good measure. He probably looked silly doing so, but if this was a better way to get candy, by Jack he was going to do it despite how silly it looked.
He succeeded at first, then fumbled a few times, knocking his basket over from ricocheting off of the tree. Cursing to himself, Marosa got back up and went to collect a few more, finally almost filling his basket up halfway.
Roch wasn't going to pick on her anymore. In fact he was sighing and mentally wishing Danny had come (but logically glad she hadn't--she would have been using him as a piggyback ride the entire time) and was able to dry his little sister off before she died of a cold or something...
His dad was going to kill him if that happened.
Terra shoved the last of the snow off of her and stood up, trying to brush it off before it melted and soaked her clothes. Stubbornly, she headed for another tree and took a whack at it.
Malodore sidestepped to the next tree over and tried the shaking method once more. After all, plague doctors weren't really built for climbing trees - it had tried that on the Isle of Famine and the results had been rather embarrassing, to say the least. Professor Red had said that they only needed one basket each, but what if some didn't manage to fill their baskets? The plague doctor was determined to do whatever was needed to bring Jericho home, including harvesting all of Christmas by itself if need be.
Again, festive sugar rained down. Baskets were toppled. Candies exploded. When finally nothing more was falling from the tree, Malodore released the trunk and started counting its plunder. Nine... would have been more if it hadn't accidentally knocked its basket over twice. Sigh.
Phew, this was tiring work. It would need to rest a bit before much longer - still, it would be a shame to leave this basket unfilled. Malodore picked another tree and shook it once more, this time reaching up to shake individual branches directly. This seemed much more successful, and less accident-prone as it didn't knock over its basket once! Soon it had a basket brimming with candy.
Terra was shivering visibly as she whacked the next tree with her instrument, wondering if she could just finish off the basket and call it a day already. This job was difficult!!
She let out a loud sigh of relief as she finally finished the basket, tugging her poncho tight around her and trying to warm up by moving around. It was freeeezing!!
Heading over to another tree was a very good idea. After bumping and checking the tree for any and all candy, he finally filled his basket, quite pleased with it.
Marosa stared at the basket for a moment, unable to help but think that the candy looked rather tasty; if he took one however, he'd be one short, and he couldn't have that!
Wings fluttering, the fey headed over to his third tree with a sigh, deciding to fill up another basket.
Sammy didn't move to rush in with the others who offered themselves up for stage two. She would go, but it was already clear that wasn't part of this trip yet. That would be for another time. Instead she simply sat and waited. Not bothering to run and get anything, she was dead, being cold wasn't really a bother and she always wore boots.
A little snow wasn't going to be a problem today.
So when the orb was brought out, and the students told to focus Sammy made sure to stand up. It was a given fact that considering Red liked to pull some pranks and or torment students that she'd prefer to stand up when the orb did what it would do, and good that she did too as moments later she found herself dimming her purple eyes to cut back on the painful brightness of all the white around her.
"Brighter... then last time..." she muttered." Looking up at the trees she nodded before moving to join Malodore.
"So. Considering the situation Doc, what do you think we get when this is said and done? Red is... something else, Riley had amnesia." She punched the side of a tree 'carefully' rattling it causing four of the joy candies to drop down.
"At the best case we just get a Dragon back with a nasty sweet tooth to replace his gold hording habbits."

Malodore turned when Sammy approached, its wings rustling a bit as she asked the question that had been on its mind as well. "We get Jericho back," it said, simply. "It will be him, in some form. How whole he will be is another story... but we will retrieve him." It sounded confident. Was it?
... Kind of. After all, with such wild variables in those recovered thus far, anything could happen. It was simply choosing to be optimistic.
Her fists tapped at the tree again, a quick series of short blows to make it shake and raffle, snow, frosting, and treats would fall with each short blow covering the ghouls black jacket in white fluff.
"We will. But it still stands. Things will have changed most likely." The words where confident, but the delivery, well it had lingered on its words causing Sammy to flicker the tiny flames in her eyes towards the plague doctor.
"You sure your okay?" She added as she rummaged through the snow for the good pieces of candy to pluck up.
The sudden plunk on the ground made Lumikki whine terribly. Not only was it cold she got dropped harder then she did when she got sorted in to the nice room earlier. Frowning she looked at the trees around her. Looking over at Julian as she stood up frumpy,
"it...s...cold..."
Rubbing her behind she looked around at the trees before making a short walk over to one. Looking it up and down she decided the easiest way was going to be just whacking it. Since she really didn't want to try and climb it.
So it was a tentative hit. One that was a little uneventful. She managed to tip over her basket twice. At least the first time there was nothing in it. The second time she lost two JOY units but she seemed happy enough she did manage to look in to a basket with 4 units of JOY, even if there was a small gingerbread branch sticking out of her basket as well.
Millie couldn't stop staring at the candy. It was so shiny. So pretty.
Red had said not to eat them and Millie had no wish to disobey an order 'lest she never be taken on a field trip again or worse, be confined to school grounds. Not to mention, she'd probably lose Esu and all ability to fight if there was any danger.
But she had this burning curiosity to see what would happen if she ate one. They looked just like regular candy...
Millie's gaze looked up towards the top of the branches and stared for a long while at the sky in between the branches.
Millie reached up and picked a large branch to fill her candy basket, but the branch she broke off had not a single piece of candy on it. Only large amounts of frosting.
Red didn't explicitly say not to eat the frosting after all. She said simply to eat it at your own risk. Worse comes to worse, she had a potion on her belt that would make her throw up...
Millie scooped up a small handful of frosting with one hand and ate it. It was sweet and tasted like any other frosting to her.

So, what does frosting do to Millie? XD I'm not sure if there is anyone paying attention as most of the students are concentrating on getting candy. Millie's wandered a bit away from the group, but they should still be able to see her. Whatever the difference between "shouting range" happens to be.
Shun had watched while a few of the students stepped in to volunteer to rescue Jericho. For the time being, he had remained silent. Perhaps he would go, but he wasn't about to make any promises. In any case, it was time to get moving. And soon he was back in the snow.
Letting out a frosty breath, he looked around at the surroundings. It wasn't long ago that he was here, but at least this time they won't be shoved into a toy factory and whatnot. Listening to what Red had to say about the area, he merely nodded, then picked up a basket to start working.
He paused briefly towards Xiu to see where she was headed, then went off towards one of the trees. The Reaper stared up at it, then took in a breath. Hooking the basket onto his arm, he began to scale up the tree swiftly. Once he was further up, he made a grab for something. It looked like a gum drop of some sort. Almost looked edible to him. He went ahead and tossed it into his basket.
Hanging onto the tree, he made a grab for another piece of candy. It was a smaller piece, looking like a peppermint swirl. Shun stared at it for the moment before tossing it into his basket. He didn't care too much for peppermint, especially considering his past experiences with it.
Making sure he had a good footing, Shun went on and tried to grab a few pieces at once. He didn't really have a chance to snatch anything, unfortunately. The gumdrop from before nearly rolled out of his basket. The Reaper just barely managed to catch it before stuffing it back into the basket.
There must have been something wrong with the basket he had. Some of his candy ended up falling out yet again as he made a grab. Cursing under his breath, Shun just managed to pick up a few pieces to replace the ones lost. This task was beginning to get on his nerves a bit. But aside from the swear, he kept to himself.
