Tokoyami: Special Japanese pests that feed on memory. They erase everything. And the first word you remember, that will be your name for the rest of your life, for you will not remember your name, only a few basic things like talking and walking.

That's just it. They don't. There's no way to defend yourself against them, because you never know when they're there. They look like darkness. Only the proper amount of mental protection can protect you, and the only person ever with the proper amount of mental protection is me. The only other way to protect yourself is to have the Ginko beside you at all times.
