The Machine [Open/Accepting]

"Well that wasn't nice. Someone bought you a drink and you're not taking it. Oh well" 'David' said, cursing in his mind. Shadow was onto him. This wasn't going to be as easy as he thought. Still, the night wasn't over yet. Curfew was still quite a few hours away. He then responded to Shadow's earlier statement. "I guess the type of job you're in doesn't give you much free time or places to go" he commented.

"It was from a girl who probably thought I was a boy. It's better to n** problems like that in the butt before they get hopeful. As for my job, I never quite know. It's kind of like your job: you go where you're called. So how's sitting behind a desk and paper pushing all day. It's got to be boring."

"Ah, I see" 'David' said, and then made a strange face in response to the question. "Huh? Paper pushing? I'm on the battlefield fighting for our glorious country. Where did you get the idea that I have an office job?" he asked.

"You mentioned it over the phone, remember." Shadow replied, taking a sip of her drink. "You know, when you weren't busy." She kept a calm front though she was mentally cursing. 'He's still not drunk enough... Damn... how long before he starts spilling?'

"Ah, right. Well, that's only once in a while. Personally I think it's my relatives in the high official positions trying to keep me safe. I guess I'm still 'little Davey' to them. I'm trying to prove that I'm a grown man now, but I think that makes them feel old" he said. Damien finished about two thirds of his drink now.

"So how long have you been 'big Davey' behind their back?" She asked with a low chuckle as she wished around the drink in her hands. 'come on... come on...' she thought.

'David' gave a little laugh. "Well I don't think it's been 'behind their back'. I've been pretty assertive with the fact that I want to help fight for our nation. As reluctant as they are, I do get put on the battlefield, but it's often arranged that I do scouting or something like that. However, I have actually engaged in combat. Hey, if I die, I know it's for serving a good cause" he said.

"So you're the guns and bullets type too? Who knew?" She giggled. "Though it's got to be better then reviewing memos all day."

"Well I like to fight however I can. If I get to participate in active combat, I will do that. If I'm given the task of scouting or something like that, I will do that too. If I'm stuck in an office doing paperwork, I will, however reluctantly, do that. I'm sure you know the feeling, somewhat" 'David' said.

"Just a bit. I mean, someone has to do it. As for me, I only have myself, so that's who gets things done." She sighed. "But you know, one of these days I'm not going to be able to do this anymore. Maybe I'll buy a castle or a pent house or something and just retire." She told him, setting her hand down somewhat close to where 'David's' hand was resting.

"That is, of course, if you manage to live that long. The type of work you're doing makes you worth a good bounty if turned in, I'm sure. As you said, the government isn't the only one that wants your head" 'David' said. He then saw Shadow put her hand close to his. "You coming on to me?" he asked.

"I suppose that's true. But I also have friends in good places." She replied. "Coming onto you?" She asked, then noticed her hand. "Oh, sorry." She said, then moved her hand and leaned her elbow against the bar.

"That's alright. You can put your hand near mine. I don't mind" 'David' said. He leaned on the bar counter as well.

"Would you like that?" She asked narrowing her eyes and tilting her head to the side seductively with a coy smile on her face.

Damien chuckled. "Well, why not. We are in a club, are we not? I thought this was the kind of place where you did that" he commented.
